I wish I could review better, but I'm afraid that I have to agree with what has already been posted. The barn is disorganized. The trainers are young and while them not being certified is actually okay, I do not think that a student can make much progress when each week has a different trainer. I found the owner difficult to deal with. I do not know that I would bring my kids here... This should be a business and run accordingly. read more

I came in for one lesson to test out this school and it was run really poorly. The lady teaching me acted like she knew everything but she was teaching me incorrect techniques. I ended up riding at the other school located on the same property where the horses were trained properly and knew how to respond to techniques taught at all the other stables across the world. read more

For any of my friends looking for a great experience for your children, Destiny Equestrian has been incredible at allowing my daughter to fulfill her dream of horseback riding! Rebecca has taught her so much in the few weeks that she has been involved, increasing her self confidence and teaching her new skills each week that includes grooming, understanding horses body language, proper posture, trotting and riding skills. Rebecca is currently looking to expand her complex to provide a therapeutic atmosphere for all, including a heated arena and services that will benefit children of all ages. I highly recommend Destiny Equestrian Complex. read more

I bought a Groupon for 4 private lessons. I did my lessons with Rebecca the owner and I couldn't be more happier. I never wanted to leave and over my 4 lessons I learnt so much. I appreciate your patience while I tried to master the art of horseback riding. read more

Destiny Equestrian - Horseback Riding Near Me - King City, Ontario

See all

There is a reason this place runs non-stop Groupons. I don't know where to begin, I'm so horrified. I see the business has moved farm locations again...from Pickering to King City and now to Whitchurch-Stouffville. 3 times in 2 years? Hmmmm... The horses used for lessons are not trained school horses, so beware...they can be dangerous. The girl told me they are actually recent rescue horses, so some are a quite unpredictable. Parents, stay with your kids at all times if you are willing to risk taking them here. Lessons (including kids' lessons) are not taught by certified instructors...this includes those running camps! Ask to see each one's teaching credentials prior to saddling up. The staff are all volunteers, mostly kids, one of which told me they don't get paid, but are offered the ability to ride the horses as payment. They openingly complain about the owner to me and the other students. The majority of horses are not used for lessons, so they use the same 3 or 4 horses and 2 ponies over and over. There are too many horses for the number of stalls in the stable, and the horses that aren't used for lessons are rarely groomed, if at all. Other animals that make up their self-proclaimed "mini petting zoo" (goats, pigs etc.) are kept in tiny pens and are NEVER let out. I am still contemplating calling the OSPCA and regret not taking photos/video. The owner Rebecca is insanely disorganized and it's very difficult to schedule lessons. I called 4 times until I finally threatened to contact Groupon for a refund before she got back to me. I think she is certified to teach but I don't know how many lessons she actually teaches as I never saw her once. When I spoke with her on the phone, she sounded nuts...try calling and see what I mean. They are constantly asking for "donations" to care for their animals, but are not a registered charity. I feel strongly that if you can't afford to properly care for your animals, stop taking in more! They "rescue" dogs, goats, pigs, chickens and of course, horses and then have the nerve to ask people for money to care for them?!! My "instructor" told me the stable and riding ring they have are not heated, unlike the others on the facility (there are other riding schools there but are not associated with them). Hate to see what happens to the horses in the winter since there are more of them than there are stalls which remain empty most of the time so the upkeep is minimized. As a result, the barn is FREEZING without any body heat from the horses which normally keeps the temperature tolerable. I guess this is a matter of "you get what you pay for". I only bought a couple lessons and am so glad I didn't sign up for more. This place costs significantly less than any other places (and there are plenty) in the area, which really says something. I Googled and found out they used to operate out of Pickering and moved to this location...the reviews about that location are 1-star also, so I was relieved to see I'm not the only one who wrote a review. I wish I'd done more homework. Check out their website and you'll even find the photos they used are all fake (compare when you visit the facility). If you care about safety or how they treat the animals, AVOID! If you don't believe me, visit there and compare it to legitimate riding schools. Scary. read more

Just no. Can't believe I didn't check reviews before buying. I don't know how Living social and Groupon can let these people keep this up. I am not a beginner and understand what a well run equestrian school is, and can easily say the facility is poorly kept and the instruction subpar. Like the other reviews say (check the ones that aren't recommended too) this place is a disaster in disrepair (ex. unfixed broken fences in paddocks, doors don't shut/lock properly) and his messy with waste (stalls are wet and not mucked to be dry). The owner is unprofessional and it took weeks to get a response, and above all, the animals are not well kept and horses unstable. I did not finish my lessons out of fear for my own safety. Seriously, something should be done about such a dangerous place and such poor business practices. Shame on you. read more

I made a yelp account just to review this place. I got a groupon, it took months to get a response with a few weeks more to get a lesson booked. I've ridden before but my friend had not. The instructor didn't teach any of the basics, but expected my friend to tack up on their own on the second lesson. Each week we had a different, unqualified, teacher. Some of the teachers told us they wouldn't be coming back after having seen the condition of this barn. The lessons were very disorganised and we either rode around in circles without being shown anything, or went out for a walk because the school was too dusty for the horses. This isn't great as we paid for private lessons. The horses were OK, but a few times I was put on a lame horse, and Rebecca, the owner, often shouted at her helpers for not grooming properly in front of us, and told me the horse I was on had just had abcesses 'blow' in its feet that day. Our lessons were cancelled several times on the actual day for no given reason, without any apologies. The horses were often going directly from one lesson to the next without a break, without even being offered water. I also find it odd that they ask for donations to feed the animals, this is a business not a charity. If I could give the stables some advice it would be to get organised- stop double booking people, have a better schedule. Allow some time between lessons so you're not always late and the horses get a break. Have some kind of plan with lessons so people actually learn something. Don't allow lame horses to be ridden, especially on the stone path. Rebecca- stop shouting at your staff in front of people, it's so disrespectful and unprofessional, and it makes us customers very uncomfortable. read more

I rode here with a groupon, and was tempted by the very inexpensive price to buy another month of lessons. The owner said if I helped out around the barn, I could do as many practice rides as I wanted to and get weekly lessons for $180 per month. This is far cheaper than riding any place else. Also, many times I showed up for my lessons, and was told to just do a practice ride. I never even got the lessons I paid for from the groupon, but did get lots of practice rides on my own. However, their horses are rescue horses, and they aren't honest about the training and demeanor of their horses, and the horses can be quite dangerous. One day, I was told to take one out for a practice ride, who I had never ridden before. When I was brushing him, his ears went back and he reared in the cross ties, then completely started freaking out and broke his halter. The instructor told me it was because I wasn't being calm around him, but another rider at the barn told me this horse had suffered severe brain damage after having a shed fall on him, and she was working to rehabilitate him. This is NOT a horse that should be used in camps, as he could be unpredictable, and he was used for kids' camps. I could go on and on, but the last time I rode here, I ended up having a bad fall because all the horses in the lesson were refusing jumps. Even the instructor could not get the horse to go over the small cross rail. These are not trained school horses, and clearly not experienced jumpers. I ended up getting a very bad concussion, and had not started my next month of lessons at that time. Based on everything, I wanted a refund, but never received one, and got a bunch of crazy messages and emails saying how I was not a rider who could be taught and that she would send me a voucher that I, or another rider, could use. But I never received that. I wouldn't have used it anyway, but this shows that the barn owner's word is no good. Basically, if you value your safety, pay a little more to ride, and avoid this place. It's not worth the risk. read more

I bought a wagjag coupon for 6 month of classes once a week 30 minutes long at destiny equestrian in innisfil. My daughter only got 15 minutes of riding each week because Rebecca would talk non-stop and didn't teach her anything. My daughter had to come an hour earlier just she would have time to ride the horse and even then she wasn't able to. My daughter did 5 lesson where she only groomed the horse. My daughter has had her lessons for 2 months and didn't get to ride the horse. Her teaching methods are unprofessional. She's not teaching for the fun of it she's in it for the money. She has 3 horses 2 of which are unrideable. I had a conversation with her and she just made excuses of why my daughter was not made aware of the ridding classes that resumed on June 14. She told me that she had contacted her which she hadn't and she had all her information. I asked her for a partial refund for what the remaining lesson were she has not responded. I don't think that this is right especially with tough times. She is false advertising and taking people's money. I am paying for a service and I should be provided with that. If you are looking for ridding lesson do your research before you are set on this stable. read more

The by far worst barn in the world!! This barn is a waste of time and money! Everyone there is rude and just want your money! All the horses are not trained and the barn is always a mess! Don't ride there! read more

I have not even been to this place yet, but I already have had a horrible experience regarding customer service. I purchased the groupon for a months worth of riding lessons about 2 weeks ago and have not been able to book a lesson. I called right after purchasing, and left a voicemail. after not hearing back after 6 days, I e-mailed Rebecca. 2 days later I called again and left another voice mail expressing my disappointment in not being able to communicate with someone and STILL haven't heard back!! That was 3 days ago!! Please if you have not purchased this groupon yet, DON'T DO IT. it is a waste of money. read more

Caution: buyer beware! Business owner is very scatterbrained and mixes up lesson times constantly. Went back and forth for months and at the end she kept messing the reservations up. She would not provide a refund after all the hassle and blamed her lack of organization skills on me! I would strongly advise taking your business elsewhere. read more
