The details are too long an involved to go into, but suffice it to say in a three night stay, the evening meals two of the three nights were 2 hour almost comical mis-adventures. After the last meal, capped off by the smell of a rotten cleaning rag left on the table behind us (reeking of rotten fish) my wife and I just lost it laughing at the complete absurdity of the whole situation. Oh, and by the way, the food ain't cheap. After the first night, I would have eaten outside the lodge, but that is impractical as the closest restaurants are in Winthrop which is mostly closed in the evening and a pretty tough drive down slick roads and back. To be fair, the new years eve celebratory meal (at $105 PP) was pretty good and not chaotic. (I am told the lodge owners were dining there that evening which may have affected the service) The lodge itself is nice, although our room, a fireplace room in the Gardner lodge was pretty worn and dated. The staff at the front desk were friendly and accommodating, we asked for a couple wine glasses and he said they should be in your room before you get there. The only arrived a couple minutes later. We had a beautiful view of the city, it was all lit up for Christmas, just gorgeous. And a cute little balcony with a couple chairs and table. There was also black out blinds which I really appreciated. The climate control was great, and not too loud when it kicked on. The room was tidy and nicely laid out. The bathroom was great with a huge mirror lining one wall. The beds were a bit stiff, but not bad, lots of pillows to choose from and the sheets were alright, a bit loud when you moved but comfortable. One really nice perk was the complementary house coats in the room, that was a nice touch. Not sure if I would want to pay the summer prices for this room, but it was great for our price in the winter.

Dock is sinking, boats need life jackets, no paddle boats, trash, and dead fish in campfire rings. Tent sites were horrible, burned dirt, charcoal everywhere not one level place suitable for a large tent. Couldn't even figure out which campsite was mine. Ended up camping by the cabin my daughter rented. Some serious safety issues a ungrounded floating outlet and a hot plate that barely worked without knobs for burner control which were too hot to touch. Steps without a proper handrail and porch railings spaced far enough apart to let a child fall thru! Won't be back. Its nothing like how it used to be...

Our family has been enjoying Log Cabin Resort for over 40 years. We typically see deer, beaver,…read moreeagles, hawks, occasionally bears, and this last summer a woodchuck. The lakes also have turtles, geese, Canadian Loons, an occasional moose, racoons, and more. Fishing never disappoints and it is always best to check in with the staff to see what gear and times are best. The setting is very peaceful and we always hate to leave. Four generations have had great experiences .....so far!

We ended up getting two bunk beds in a queen in one room and a queen in another room which worked out great with our kids. The cabins are comfortable except for there's no air conditioning in the cabins or even in the lodge. So keep that in mind if staying in the summer. There was a fan provided but only one for the whole entire room at night. It did cool off so we'd open up the windows to cool off the cabin. There was a strange smell, probably from the previous people's cooking in the cabin which was unpleasant for the first day.
