Coco is awesome!!!!!!!!!! When we were researching wedding photographers, they all fell into three basic groups: Expensive+Awesome, Expensive+Boring, and Cheap+Boring. All except for Martinography! There's a whole new category of one: SuperAffordable+SuperAwesome. I am so sick of standard wedding photos. Boring colors, boring lines of people, and HOURS of boring standing around getting paired up with different combinations of the wedding party. Boo! I wanted tons of color, creative poses, and candid shots. Coco brought it! I knew she was special as soon as I saw the pix on her website, but it was fantastic to meet with her in person and look through her fun portfolio. A previous reviewer wrote here that "When Coco and I met, I instantly like her--I think its hard not to be magnetized to her passion and zest for life". That captures her in a nutshell. I'm going to make the same joke here that I made the whole time we were engaged: if I hadn't married Annie, I'm pretty sure she would have married Coco! Everyone at our wedding who met her told us what a delight she was, which is important. Photographers can be invisible or fun or both, but you don't want people telling you how off-putting or bossy or unpleasant your wedding photographer was to them. No worries here! She even took some videos with her camera, which I forgot was a possibility. Or maybe I just wasn't paying that much attention when we met because I had already made my decision. It was an incredible blessing though, because we had the most awesome wedding dance ever - we rickrolled the entire wedding, live - and the people who were going to record it had to leave early. And then it appeared on our wedding photo cds, along with video footage of our opening and closing and vows. (Clearly not as important as the DANCE....) Coco should be charging three times what she charges. We paid (ok, my mom paid as her gift) something around $400 for what was supposed to be three hours if I remember correctly, and Coco even stayed longer out of the goodness of her heart to capture our dance. But I didn't want to tell her she should raise her rates till after we paid! She has a day job in Silicon Valley and does the photography because she loves it so much. Why not just do what you love, is what I say! (I suppose she must love her day job too, but it's hard to imagine her in an office.) Magnificent! I am so glad that I found her through Yelp forums and so glad that we chose her. read more

We hired Coco & Tim for our wedding, and felt like we became friends throughout the process. The first time we met at a Starbucks near their house, we planned to talk to them for maybe 30 min and then head to dinner, but ended up chatting with them for 2 hours with an empty stomach! Coco is passionate about her photography (Tim picked up photography after marrying Coco, and kind of works like an independent assistant), and after finding out that our wedding is in Monterey, she even asked us if we would go with her to Monterey for an engagement session because she liked the pink flowers by the sea. A few weeks before the wedding, they traveled to Monterey to meet with us, toured the hotel to get picture ideas, and shot lots of pictures by the ocean. We are also photo enthusiasts (Canon 30D and XSi) and we shoot lots of pictures on our own using a Manfrotto tripod and remote, but the shots that Coco & Tim captured were much more intimate and passionate! On our wedding day, they arrived early (much earlier than the groom!) and began shooting around the hotel and bride's ready room, and basically worked non-stop for the rest of the day (they ended up staying in Monterey for the weekend so they could stay late with us). The pictures were PERFECT!!! Everyone had a blast with them and they even stuck around and chatted with our guests for a long time after the wedding was over. About 2 weeks after the wedding, Coco gave us a professionally-edited digital album with beautiful cover shots and very elegant photo effects. She also gave us all the originals (all 4000 of them!) There were pictures of every guest, and she even blocked traffic on Cannery Row to get some very unique pictures of us crossing an empty street (don't do this at home!). We couldn't be happier with Coco & Tim and their friendly son (we visited their home a few times to discuss about the wedding, get pictures, etc.). Not only did we get great pictures out of our wedding, we had a wonderful experience working with them, and wholeheartedly recommend them for any wedding! read more

What can you say? I just love CoCo & MartinoGraphy. I am a licensed insurance broker for 12 years now, and a small business owner who runs insurance and financial brokerage firm. I am a member of Korean American Association, Chamber of Commerce, and board member of Korean American Insurance association. OK. If you are looking for a photographer for you wedding and engagement, YOU MUST CHOOSE HER! I am an insurance broker. My job is to choose the best value insurance policies for my clients. That means, when i shop, i shop very very seriously and very very hard. I was trying to find the best value in the photographer but CoCo was the best of the best option!!!!!!! She was so knowledgeable and she knows what he is doing, and her pricings are very very reasonable. Working with her, she stayed late hours at our engagements and at our wedding to make sure our photos come out great and her staffs were very helpful also. At our wedding, she and her staffs also made sure we were having fun, comfortable and natural. We felt like we were the movie stars, so our poses just came out totally naturally. I voluntarily gave her extra 300 dollars because i totally was underpaying her. Although I am very cheap person since I am a cheesy greasy insurance broker ^^, it was just right thing to do. I came across her company through a Google search when i was looking for a photographer for my wedding. After calling many companies CoCo was the only one who exactly explained what would go on in the wedding and gave us many options of style of pictures etc for us to decide. Since i & my wife prepared for the wedding all by ourselves, and didn't hire wedding planner, we had no clue. Not only was she our photographer, did she also give us details and basically was our scheduler and planner. She gave us what it would take and went through thoroughly what we wanted and to expect. Amazing!!! Coco was doing my engagement photos and they came out absolutely amazing!! She has this passion for what she does, so it makes time with her fund and easy. I found out about Martinography through Yelp and met for a consultation. Coco and Tim were a great couple to meet. They are very passionate about photography. Coco showed us her work and how she edits her photographs. The prices are very reasonable. We were interested in the all day package and it costs $2400. It also includes all the pictures on a dvd, an engagement session and photo prints. Unfortunately, we didn't go with Martinography, but it was a great opportunity to meet with them! read more

I have now worked with Coco on 3 occasions: My brothers wedding reception, My engagement, and My wedding + reception. To this day, I swear there is no one who can make me look more beautiful than Coco. She is charismatic and wonderful at directing you so you look your best. We felt comfortable with Coco as soon as we met her especially as she had some delectable eclairs for us. Also, prices are so impressively affordable compared to other wedding photographers with the same creativity and style. It was about $1700 for 7 hours which would be at least $2K more for other photographers. This includes all the pictures on cds sent to you as well as a video. The main reason why I gave her a 4 instead of a 5 was because the video portion was lost as one of her cameras broke. She reassured us that we had not lost pictures but we did lose the short video. However, she offered a refund for this portion and also made a video with the clips we have from our family members. I haven't seen this yet but the pictures are just beautiful. It has been an absolute priviledge to have Martinography cover our April 24th wedding. It was refreshing to find a photographer like Coco who does it for the love of capturing ones memories on film rather than to profit. Don't get me wrong, the prices are competitive- but she admits that she has no reason to hold all your memories for ransom, even if its over 3000 of them!!! which was why we fell in love with her. The team that covered our wedding consisted of Coco, Ygor(sp?) and another photographer outside of Martinography (but who has worked closely with them before( named Thi. We had them cover us from 10am(when the girls were getting ready) all the way until 10pm, which was after all the main activities were done. We also hired them to do our videography throughout the wedding. The work was nothing smaller than "amazing" to describe the quality of work. All of the pics were amazing. The level of professionality was amazing. Their dedication to capturing as much as they possibly can was amazing. Coco, Thi and Ygor were everywhere, capturing every moment, posed and candid. They were creative, efficient and aware. Coco provided us with a beautiful slideshow of our wedding using the pictures and HD video and has given us over 50gb of pics and unused video for us to keep. She also touched up/edited some 200 pics. We are in the process of choosing pics for her to make into prints...alll I can say is that we have so many good pictures to choose from, we dont know what to pick at this point!!! I would highly recommend Coco and the Martinigraphy team. If she is still available for your wedding, please take it as a sign of luck and grab her while you can!!! I can't say enough good things about Coco. She was our wedding photographer and we could not have been happier with her or more pleased with the results. Coco's friendly demeanor made my husband and I feel so comfortable from the start. At our wedding I felt like we had a friend or family member there - who happened to take really, really great photos. Wow, Coco and her team were amazing!! Her pictures are gorgeous! I got so excited with what I could expect from Coco's work from the first interview! She is so passionate about her work. Even the ones where the couples are standing to pose have some kind of flavor or twist to it, something that gives it elegance and flair. Corina and her team took beautiful pictures and an amazing wedding video for my wedding back in 2010. I couldn't have been happier with her vision, dedication, and personality. She was extremly sweet and got us our proofs quickly as well as our final pictures and videos. It has now been 10 years since my wedding, and I have misplaced my video. this is based on a first impression appointment only. it is a husband-wife business. i met coco (the wife) and i think she's a fantastic person. i have met a couple photographers already and these other photographers obviously made wedding photos as a "business". coco talks about wedding photography like she's the best friend of the bride and groom and can't wait to take photos for them as a favor. she's very charismatic, energetic, talkative, funny, honest and also, she is willing to hear opinions to make sure that her clients are part of the enhancement process of their wedding photos. you can really see her passion for photography and her love for weddings. other photographers were kind of like "bam. here's my kickass photo. already enhanced." coco is more like "so, i'm trying out this style with this color..... what do you think? this enhancement will emphasize.... this change will accentuate....." so, i feel like as a client, you can provide some input on how your photos will look. although other photographers may or may not offer such freedom as well, coco makes it obvious that your opinion counts. price-wise, they are worth to consider. if i remember correctly, their most expensive package was quoted at $1800 (at the time I met Coco) for unlimited for the entire wedding day and possibly an included engagement photo session, among other useful features. However, prices can change so make sure to contact them for the specifics. this wedding package is the most economical package that i have seen thus far. if you're tight on a budget, i know that they can work something out with you. for the quality of the photos and the specifics of the wedding packages, i believe it is worth the money. read more

I can't imagine being happier with Martinography! We had our engagement pictures taken by them this October on the beach in front of Sam's Chowder House, and they turned out spectacular! * 3 hours before the wedding was set to start I got an EMAIL from Coco saying she could not make the wedding and was sending someone else instead. I called her immediately after reading the message, but she did not answer so I left her a message. Within 10 minutes she returned my call. She said to me, "I knew you would freak out so I was hoping you wouldn't see it until Tim and John got there." I understand emergencies come up and things happen, but I felt this was handled extremely unprofessionally. Just to add something, I was a very relaxed bride throughout the entire planning process and with all communication with Coco. I work in the events industry and have a respect for my colleagues. * Tim, who was sold as a second photographer, is not at a professional level - from the looks of the photos I received. I thought Tim was a very nice person, but the photos he produced were no different than the photos our guests took. It makes me sad when I look at our photo book and the difference is undeniable. You would never guess my husband had a professional with him. The photos Thai Woo took, the replacement photographer, were very nice and we had no complaints other than the missing photos, which unfortunately included one extremely important shot. * A list of the photos we wanted was provided to the photographers well in advance of the wedding, but several of these were missing. NOT A SINGLE SHOT OF ME WITH MY MOM was taken. When I asked her about it she said it was not on the timeline, but it is clearly written, "Bide with each parent." There are NO PHOTOS of the groom getting ready and no groomsmen photos - unless you count them standing in a line a good grooms shot. In total, 9 of the 30 shots listed as must haves were not taken. * Communication was an issue after the wedding day. When emails weren't returned my husband called and left messages. Phone calls were NEVER returned, instead I would get an email answering a question a few days later. It felts as though we were being pushed aside once the final bill had been paid. The interaction between myself and Coco was outstanding up to the actual wedding day. I had even referred paying business to them (a bride they worked with in May was thanks to me), but yet I was still given poor service. I am disappointed my experience with them was so different than everyone else. We paid $1050 for our package, which included 7 hours of photography and all the items listed in Coco's response, with the exception of the additional edits, which we greatly appreciated. The price we paid was what they charged at the time we contracted with them. read more

We have Coco and her husband, Tim, photographed our wedding ceremony. Coco also did the engagement session for us. Coco already made a great impression when we first talked on the phone. You can tell from her voice about her passion to photography. She arrived earlier for our first appointment in Mt View to review her work and sign the contract. My husband and I were really impressed by their creativity and the effort they put in to edit each picture. So we decided to have Coco for our engagement session and have both Coco and Tim for our wedding ceremony. The engagement session was taken in Palo Alto downtown. We spent the first 30 minutes with Coco to practice a few things to get comfortable in front of the camera. Then, we went to a few places that we love about the town for shooting. It was truly fun although we sometimes ran out of ideas to do during the shooting. So it's important to do some homework for each couple to think about how to best present both of you 'together as a couple. The wedding session also went well. They arrived at the church before us to see the lighting. They are both fun to work with and will also take good amount pictures of your guests - which is great! They gave you both the original and the edited pictures in CD. We also found a lot of hidden jewels in the original files actually. They did a great job to edit the lighting and our skin tone to make us all look fabulous! We truly enjoy working with Coco and - she and Tim are not only someone we'd recommend to others but also are great friends we'd like to keep - our conversations with them have always been so inspiring that made you feel like life is too short to be unhappy or be bored. Coco is brilliant.. Coco shot my sisters wedding in 2011 and did the most amazing work, so I decided to bring Coco on board for my wedding as well.. It was the best decision I made for my wedding. We met with Coco prior to the wedding to discuss what we wanted out of our wedding photos. She showed us some of her work from other weddings and shared some of her ideas as well. We had planned on the meeting being 30 minutes or so, but we stayed about 2 hours talking, laughing and sharing life stories. Coco truly has an eye for photography. She know exactly what angles to get and what lighting to have to make your pictures perfect. She captured our happiness and all of our guests joy in a way I could not have dreamed of. There is no comparison as far a pricing, she has the best rates for the best service. We had Coco and another of her employees for a total of 8 hours and she only charged $2880.. She offers a discount if you pay in cash, so we took advantage of that. Not only is Coco a great photographer, her love of love and her love of life is inspiring. It was a joy to meet and get to know Coco. The world would be a better place if we had a few more Cocos in it :) I have referred her to many family and friends already, and I will continue to spread the word of her greatness to everyone I can. Coco & Tim photographed our October 3rd wedding in Half Moon Bay. We had a great experience working with the husband wife team. They both have different styles and the dual perspectives made for some excellent shots! The reason we chose them over the many other photographers we met with is because they genuinely love photographing weddings. They were dependable, straightforward, and always returned e-mails and calls in a timely fashion - which is very important during wedding planning! I am very disappointed. I contacted Coco after finding their website and viewing the portfolio. We were in communication and she told me our wedding date was available and so my fiance and I drove 2 hours just to meet with Coco and Tim. They gave us the contract (which by the way they verbally countered a lot of what is written in the contract when we questioned it) and assured us our date was available yet again. We booked with them and put down the deposit. We thought everything was great and that we were set after doing all our research and driving many miles. But Coco contacted me and canceled on us. She said the date was already taken (which she previously told me via email and in person was available). I don't know how our date was already taken when we had already booked and both they and we had a signed contract. She said no problem, she would just cancel the contract. Well, yes, this is a problem. The BIG problem is that if you cancel, you lose your deposit, but if they cancel there are no repercussions. She said she would either cancel or she would have Tim shoot the wedding along with somebody else instead of her. The problem here is that we drove all the way down just to see her work, and I have not seen the work of this friend. I said fine and asked for a discount. Then she emailed back and said they couldn't do it because Tim doesn't want to do a shoot without her. Well then, why were we offered that? Anyway, it was a disaster. In the end I think it's best you do yourself a favor when it comes to your big day and get a professional photographer instead. read more

I called Coco last week after finding her on Craigslist . Lucky for me, she had an opening this past Saturday (yesterday). Her outgoing personality was apparent from our first phone call and she was kind enough to offer me a discount since she didn't have much experience shooting maternity photos (weddings are her specialty). The photo session was AWESOME! She made it so fun! MY husband and I felt so relaxed as if we were spending time with an old friend. She also worked hard to get my best angles since I'm pregnant and feeling like a cow:) lol! She is definitely a perfectionist and it paid off because the pictures came out AMAZING! I haven't seen them all yet, but she was kind enough to email me some of the photos this morning so that I could include them in my Christmas cards (so sweet of her). I can't wait to see the other photos as well. I really think she should quit her day job and do this full time because she has a gift.
