Established in 1942, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the most-visited park in Louisiana has nature trails, a sandy beach, a new, all-inclusive playground, a splash pad, and the ruins of an 1829 sugar mill situated among towering oaks. Love there is An all-terrain track wheelchair is available for use by visitors with limited mobility. Win win for everyone.

Huge beautiful park! A real treasure find for this Alaskan!…read more Took the Sugar Mill trail which is a nice, wide gravel trail. Very easy to traverse for just about anyone. Some walked while some biked. Sugar Mill is a looping trail about a mile long. The alligator boardwalk trail was closed, likely due to damage from Ida and hasn't been repaired yet. There was another trail, but we did not take it. The massive cypress are just awesome! The Spanish moss slowly wavering in the air as you walk underneath these giants is just captivating to me! We did not encounter any creatures except squirrels and a male Orchard Orbweaver and his impressive web. Sooo much space and things to do here we didn't even do all of it. There's big open fields for playing, a playground, tons of parking available. I did see the pier and water of Lake Pontchartrain in the distance, but we were too hungry to keep exploring lol $3 per person to enter the park - 100% worth it

Horrible customer service. When we registered, we asked if there was any unsafe trails, and they…read moresaid no. We had a good time riding some trails, until we hit a trail on the south part of the land. There was a massive hole hidden underneath the mud, and our car got the front end completely submerged. We called for help at the front desk, and they said that they couldn't do anything and that we were on our own. We waited for 4 hours until some riders found us, but they couldn't pull us out. We ended up coming back the next day, after a storm that sunk the car even more. Apparently, people started complaining that our car was in the way of their riding, and THEN the owner said she could move it with a tractor, when the previous day they said they didn't have a tractor or anything that could pull us out. Would've been an okay trip if they actually wanted to help people out who got screwed over, but once you sign the waiver, they don't give two shits. Our trip ended with a dead car being left in a creek, walking back to the front and getting no help after police phone calls, calling front desks, and wildlife services.

Upon arrival; door did not lock from the inside; old food in the freezer, camper dirty, bathroom dirty, floors dirty, all the beds unmade with crumpled blankets sitting in the middle, found Someone's pills on the floor, and the icing on the cake was no hot water & the shower was broken all weekend... Was told by management to use the outside shower because it was nothing they could do about..... don't waste your money horrible experience,!!!!!

While looking for a location for a month stay we saw They have a lot of empty spaces and now I understand why if you can't reach anyone you can't rent them. We drove through and found a couple different park residents and stopped to ask if they knew who or where we could find someone.. one said" good luck ". Another said " it's a hit or miss"This is no way to run a business !! Finally encountered a very rude and snippy woman whose name is Judy says she's the manager. We wouldn't stay there if they gave us a spot !! Also spoke to a " long time " resident who states the manager is a drunk who poisons and kills the the neighborhood cats .. and is extremely volatile. Stated they tried to have warranty work done on their camper and the repair man won't even come in the park because she is a drunk and try's to extort money from them for allowing them to come in the park. And forget washing cars or your camper she wants money for that too. Wish the new owners knew this but she says she doesn't have any phone numbers to contact them ?? Yeah ok NOT We ended up at another park on Hwy 90 they are extremely friendly and actually says that they get a lot of people who says the same exact thing .. DO NOT GO TO THIS PARK
