This store is far too expensive to run the way it does. First, items which state online that they are available in the show room are not actually there. We came to see a desk which stated online that it is available in store, but after driving all the way there, they stated they do not carry it. We asked to see other similar items and decided to order a standing desk. They claim to provide a "20% discount for new customers" which is bogus because the item is on 20% discount online anyway. They require a "white glove" delivery fee of over $300, despite our having already spent thousands on the item itself. They do not provide free delivery on any amount you spend. You would think that top shelf service would ensure a quick turnaround, but you would be wrong. We were promised delivery within 3 weeks. It has now been more than two months and the item only just got shipped. I called to ask for clarification on the delivery date, and the representative was completely unmoved by the wait time lack of communication. She tried to blame the delay on "tariffs," which doesn't explain the lack of communication. This is a ridiculous answer. I asked to cancel the order so that I could order something that would arrive quicker, and she let me know there is a 10% "restocking fee" for cancellations. I kept the order as is, but I still don't have my desk. I've been working from a small stool on the floor. If I had purchased a cheap imitation somewhere else I'm sure I would have gotten the item by now. All I have left to say is Gallery Furniture and Amazon would never. read more

Design within reach Beautiful store with some great furniture. Right now they have a sale going on - a home office event ending Aug 1st. They call themselves Design 'Within' Reach but when does an Hermann Miller office chair costing over $2500 fall in the category of affordable.... but thats just one of the options ;) There were some unique designs which caught my attention, like - a book case, it was so compact that it looked like it was floating in the air. Or, the 360 degree rotating cute comfy chair- perfect for my tv corner so I can watch over the cooking, not miss the episode, and, while watching my 2 year old niece running around from one end of the house to another! We got a customized black and red Hermann Miller with fully adjustable arm rest, and lumbar support for a hard floor setting. That chair had the option of the seat also to be adjusted from front to back, but I really didn't see the point of that so skipped it. The price changes with every option added including choosing the red cushion instead of the default. Overall, with the sale, and all the " loadings", and delivery including, we got it for about $800, a good price. Well, we are happy with the choice made. The chair will get shipped in 4 weeks, waiting to welcome it into our work corner. read more

Troy has been so helpful and keeping us updated when there are seasonal sales! He quickly answers all of the emails. Most interaction I've had in any of the furniture places I've ever been to!!! We are looking to upgrade our queen size bedroom furniture to a king size (same style; but just bigger!). He definitely saved us 20% in this season. Very happy!!!! We purchased quite a few pieces for multiple rooms and wanted to make sure everything was going to work together. This lead to countless hours in the store, playing with fabric swatches and multiple variations. Saraya was amazing - she sat with us and provided feedback on our choices and made alternate suggestions that aligned with the look we were trying to achieve. She led us through the order process and made sure our delivery date aligned with our move-in date. Her knowledge of the DWR catalogue and the history of each piece is phenomenal - she could/should teach a class in modern design. The entire experience was a lot of fun and I'm just sad that our house is furnished now and I won't have an opportunity to work with Saraya again. read more

I came here so I could test some Herman Miller chairs due to them being very expensive. I ended up buying a chair from them instead of from Herman Miller's site due to me taking a lot of their time testing the chair. Honestly I wish I had just purchased from Herman Miller's site because I have had just the most awful time with the customer service. I'm not sure if I am unlucky but not only have they been incredibly rude, they forget to do what the promise to do and I have to keep calling back to remind them. read more

I have been a customer of Design Within Reach for a very long time, but I have grown tired of never being able to purchase anything that doesn't come with a wait time for delivery of two weeks. Not even accessories are available for sale on the spot -- even if they're on sale! So day after day they turn away customers with the attitude that if you want what they're selling, you'll wait. My wife and I recently bought a sofa, a chair, and a rug at this store from Rebecca Koenig. The customer service from Rebecca' side was good BUT, this company used the WORST delivery service out there and we were just victims of their terrible customer service and lack of total respect for a customer. PRO-HOME SERVICES (the delivery company) does not follow up, they never call back and they don't even assure you when your stuff is going to be delivered. John and Joe (managers of PRO-HOME SERVICES) are just a joke. Right now my new sofa -which wasn't cheap- is seating on my garage as they couldn't make it up to our stairs and promise to come back and get it up by our balcony, the chair they brought wasn't the right one so now, we need to wait a week for that one. Terrible customer service and product delivery. A working chair not delivered even after four weeks of purchase. The rep at the store Marlon demoed the herman miller aeon chair well and I bought it on Dec 29. After that my experience was terrible. I received a damaged chair in the first week of January. I am surprised to find chair shipped without any protection like bubble wrap. When I contacted the store rep, after a string of emails - he intimated that replacement chair delivery is Jan 23. And then, only when I call back today..the estimated chair delivery date is Jan 30. They have a backorder of more than 500 chairs and I do not understand why they are not giving this info to the customer prior. Store is apathetic about fixing their delivery issues (whether it is damage or slowness of delivery). They say that the damage during delivery is rare where as other reviews also point to the systemic problem. read more

Bad reviews are from people that don't know how the furniture industry works. Quality is exceptional at DWR. Not everything is perfect, sometimes buying direct from manufacturer is better, but DWR has an great curation of finely made and somewhat affordable design pieces. read more

Recently bought the RALEIGH BED.... the manger John & team leader Brielle were stellar! I originally spoke with Brielle and she was most helpful- showed me wood and fabric options, mentioned all the delivery options and made helpful knowledgeable suggestions! I went back 2 days later to purchase the bed (during hurricane Harvey) and John helped me complete my purchase and even showed me a few other options! Their dedication to customer service was apparent! My delivery came in exactly on time .... John and Brielle both kept on it and made it happen! I cannot thank them enough for their help and I must say the quality of the bed is top knotch! I love it and loved my experience! read more

Design Within Reach offers zero % financing, but the store manager and staff have no idea how it works. I bought an expensive Eames chair because of their financing offer. I qualified on the spot. The chair took 4 months to have manufactured and shipped. No email or call from the store to tell me it had been shipped. WORSE, they charged one of my credit cards instead of putting it on the Affirm financing with 0% interest that I qualified for at the time of purchase. I went to the store, met with the salesperson and manager with no result. They have no clue how the finance works. NEVER DO BUSINESS with DWR unless they have the furniture in stock and they honor the financing on the spot. read more

Wow, not even sure where to begin so will just make it brief...RUN! Only buy from these folks if you want lies, delays and horrible service. Regardless of what you order expect delays and issues. If you do have a problem with quality you will be lied to and kept waiting for answers. The list of wrongs dealing with these people is so long and bad that I'll simply say do NOT buy from these folks. Me and my husband recently purchased 5 Forma Boxes for our living space, I wasn't sure about it even though we had been looking at them for quite a few months. Chase was amazing! Purchased two over priced exterior EOS chaise lounge chairs, that looked great. Problem is that when it rains, (the chairs are outside by the pool), it takes three days to dry-out; unless you want to sit on a wet sponge! DWR on their web site promises "We stand behind the quality of everything we sell. Your satisfaction with our products is of the utmost importance to us. We make every effort to select and sell products constructed of premium materials built by highly skilled people to exacting standards." Despite acknowledging this problem of clearly defective and inappropriate merchandise, manager at store refuses to replace chairs or refund our purchase price. What crust! read more
