The food is delicious and very authentically Bengali. The staff is also very kind and will offer to make you specific authentic Bengali dishes if there are things you want that are not on the menu if you ask and they have the supplies on hand. This is inside of a grocery store so there is no seating, only takeout. During Ramadan they also offer delicious Bengali iftar boxes. Would highly recommend getting the iftar box with pakora, boot, muri, fried eggplant, an aloo chop, and a date.

Not sure if this review will be filtered but I'm posting to inform that I bought an item on June 22 2020 (6/22/2020) and the expiration date on three item was September 18 2019 (9/18/2019). We are in the middle of a pandemic and the owner needs to realize to check his inventory instead of profits. I've attached a picture just so that this review is not disputed buy the owner saying this was a false review. The owner refunded the amount charged for the item when I called him back to inform what he's been selling in his store but as a customer I'd advice everybody shopping here to check the dates on their items. I've been shopping for regional grocery in this store for years even when they were at their old location at El Camino Real. Somehow the quality has gone down over the years.

Wow! What a treasure trove of a place; especially for those who long for Bengali cuisine; provided they are willing to expend some elbow grease in the kitchen. I dropped in twice today. They had a huge freezer-load of full Hilsa and Rohu fish and are more than happy to clean and cut it for you if you ask them. Just make sure you ask to them to clean it too since I asked them to only cut it thinking the fish had been scaled already. On getting to my friend's place, they told me this place also had mishti doi, the sweet Bengali yogurt set in a clay pot. So I *had* to go back and there I was, on my way back home, dropping in to pick up two of those little pots of gold (ok, yogurt). I haven't tried it yet but I can't wait. They kept it frozen so I gotta let it thaw out and let it get to the right texture. We also had some chicken rolls and the "chicken kebab roll" was really good. Not Kolkatta "Kati Roll" good, but still pretty darn good! Damn, I wish this place wasn't a 90 minutes' drive away!

I was looking to cater Bengali food for my son's birthday party. Have tried every restaurant that caters Bengali food here in the bay area but this has been the best so far. Food was simply outstanding and made it slightly customized to to my needs to taste more like Assamese/Bengali fusion. Non veg main courses I ordered- Goat Curry, Iislih Pulao, Rohu Curry, Egg Curry( It was simply delicious ). Appetizers : Tandoori Chicken, Samosa Chat etc was nothing unique. Tasted like any restaurant food. Thanks to the chef (forgot her name), she was very friendly and yes thank you for the delicious food !

$5 for this piece of fish!

I ordered some vegetarian dishes along with 2 pieces of Rohu fish. The size of the fish was really small. When I asked the lady serving the food if it was only half a piece as it was too small for the price charged, she casually replied "I know some pieces are really small." Super!!

Hilsa pulao. Rice is gobindobhog or Sada jeera, fish was medium size. $12.99. I think this was a lesser bang for the buck.

My favorites include the shawarma lamb wrap damascus style, falafel tacos, the original chicken shawarma wrap, and of course the pickles and toum. I also really enjoyed the Fatteh. You can't really go wrong with anything here, it's just about what your personal favorites are. The owners are so kind and friendly, always chatting with everyone in the restaurant, they create a very warm and welcoming environment, and you can tell they really care about what they do.

We got two different vegetarian wraps to go: the Lebanese fries wrap and the falafel wrap. To our…read moresurprise, the fries wrap was the better of the two, as the garlic aioli and whatever other flavors were added made it tasty. It definitely could have used the coleslaw and pickles promised by the menu but they weren't in evidence. That was the problem with the falafel wrap, too: the menu promised hummus, cabbage & tomatoes salad, and pickled turnips, but those ingredients weren't anywhere to be seen. There was some lettuce instead, but lettuce is a poor substitute as it just becomes immediately soggy and adds no flavor. If you've ever had falafel in Israel, you will be disappointed by the falafel here, unfortunately. (Israeli falafel shops each make at least a dozen toppings from family recipes, so you put as many veggies and sauces in as you can to create a flavor party in your mouth.)

I've also tried their indoor seating where you can order the food off the menu. I love the appetizers, the main dishes and I always finish my dinner with cold baklava and a Turkish coffee. I love the interior design, with the images of popular Turkish places like Istanbul and others, you feel like you are in Turkey. The staff is the kindest there is in the service industry. This one was disappointing enough to feel worth documenting. My boyfriend and I ended up here after attempting to go to Treehouse nearby (which had an hour wait--unsurprising given the concept). This restaurant was a short walk away, which actually worked out well given how congested the area was, and we walked in optimistic. The space itself is very large, but nearly empty for a weekday evening. It felt family-owned and casual, which I usually love--many of my favorite restaurants fall into that category. Unfortunately, the experience didn't reflect that warmth. We were given a different menu than other diners, which immediately felt odd. Service wasn't overtly rude, but it was noticeably unwelcoming--almost a "why are you here?" tone rather than hospitality. We ordered hummus and feta, both of which were surprisingly expensive for the portion and quality. We were told bread would arrive automatically with the hummus, but it didn't--despite asking multiple times. When it finally arrived, it was poorly cooked and no longer served any purpose, as we were already well into the meal. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, our mains took about 30 minutes. One dish--a kebab--was fine but very forgettable for a $30+ price point. My dish, dumplings in a yogurt-based sauce, was honestly inedible. I left it untouched and mentioned that it didn't taste good. The response was simply, "Oh, so you don't want a box?" No attempt to fix the issue or even acknowledge it. What sealed it for me was the overall condition of the place. Dirty cutlery, a generally rundown interior, and a lack of attention to cleanliness made it uncomfortable to eat there. I'm not picky about ambiance when the food and service deliver--but here, nothing quite worked together. The whole experience felt very turn-and-burn, as if the restaurant relies on proximity to a popular area rather than repeat customers. I left feeling like unless you're part of a specific in-crowd, this isn't a place that's trying very hard to win you over. Personally, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't recommend it--especially given the pricing and the many better options nearby.

Nahita Bakery operates a humble storefront with large glass display cases showing off their delicious baked goods, fried pastries, and stewed meats and vegetables. As a first timer, it was a feast for hungry eyes! We came in on a weekday afternoon and were hankering for a snack before dinner. The staff welcomed us in and gave us a quick introduction to their offerings. My mouth was already salivating at the sight of the golden brown pastries and at the mention of olives and cheese, I was committed! We ended up getting a coupe of their items including achmas (pastry made with sweetened dough) and pogaca (pastry made with buttery dough) - one filled with olives and one with the feta cheese. We also got a borek (pastry made with phyllo dough) with ground beef and asked to be cut up so it can be shareable. The olive achma was fragrant and soft when torn into. The olives were flavorful and distributed well within the bun. The feta cheese pogaca was flavorful and was layered into bun. I think it would have tasted even better warmed but it was delicious nonetheless. The distribution of the cheese could have been better to better fill my mouth with those flavors. The borek was a star but too heavy for one person to eat. The fried dough was crispy and paired with the ground beef made for a hearty snack to go with something warm to drink. The other pastries and entrees looked good and although we didn't have the stomach space for it this time, we know we will be back when we are in the area to try something new. Perhaps we will get to try their coffee next time! Overall, Nahita Bakery does an amazing job bringing their Turkish culture through food to the South Bay. Their quality of work is shown in the food's presentation, ingredients, and flavors and the clean open dining space elevates the dining experience here whether you're in for breakfast, lunch, a snack, or dinner. Their large parking lot shared by other small businesses is fantastic for those looking to get in and out on some errands. If you haven't had a chance to try some Turkish pastries, you are in for a treat at Nahita Bakery!
