Not that I'll hog this find all to myself. On the contrary, this is the pay dirt that is best shared! Very cute shop that reminds me of one that I'd encountered shopping along Armitage Ave in Chicago. (This is the highest compliment I can pay!) The owner herself is from the upper peninsula of Michigan and it was lovely to chat with her upon my first visit. She's a designer and does in-home consultations and design. What I greatly appreciated about her way of doing business is that she was very direct about her pricing structure. She had a "menu" of services listed and can do as little or as much as you'd like. The shop itself is true to "mongrel" - a nice little mixed selection of home decor items. I enjoy shopping "outside the box" (ie PB, Crate & Barrel etc) for some unique finds and Mongrel has everything from furniture to candles. I put my name on an e-mail list (be sure to do so!) to receive notice of sales and events. The shop is located in the Fry's shopping plaza, on the very east end by Subway.

What a huge awesome cactus farm. They have really inventory. They are popular and things go fast. They also had excellent customer service and wrapped a section of each up for transporting and safely transplanting since they have a lot of sharp thorns. 5 years later her Ocotillos are still going strong. We came here again and picked up a cactus and I do not recall the name of it and it is beautiful. We came again this month to find an Ocotillo to replace a tree in our yard to avoid high maintenance, but they only had one left and the containers was so big we would have find a company to deliver it. We did bring home a barrel to replace a Lantana as the neighbor's tree leaves build up and conintually kill the Lantana there. This place is still going strong and service is still friendly and great!

Whenever I go to J&B, I see some really interesting pieces. Just a sample: Living room sets. Brocade fabrics. A baby grand piano. Folding bookcase. An old ice chest, still sporting the original metal manufacturing plate. A hand painted pine hutch. Even six stackable stools of wood with leather cushions, probably meant for eating close to the floor. Today I bought a leather couch. After spending much too much time looking on Craig's List and traveling all over creation to try out some really dreadful couches (owners are not always the most objective), my friend told me about a great couch at J&B. We went there, sat, and it was perfect! Everyone in the store is very nice. The owner, Barb, works hard to bring in unusual and lovely items. She cleans them to make sure they're free of stains and pet odors, and then puts them on display. Sellers get a contact for 90 days. After 60 days, the store offers a 25% discount to move the items. Barb told me that she'll hold the items for you if you can't pick them up right away. You never know what you'll find, because merchandise can change daily. And because the items are gently used, some might be antiques. Give this store a try. You might find a treasure.

We loved every aspect of our experience with Spice up your home staging…read more The moment I contacted Talia. She went straight over to my home and knew exactly what she could do to help sell our home. She staged it within that same week and it sold a week later! Here's a little about how amazing this was. Our home had been on the market for over a year. We had been through three realtors. Held countless open houses and did updates to our home. The feedback we were constantly getting was structural things about our home that we could not change. So I finally was thinking that if people could only see the potential with furniture and fall in love with our home like we did when first bought it, then it should sell. When I spoke first with Talia and she came to the house. She knew exactly what I was thinking too. The furniture she put into the home was so elegant and stunning. Not only did we sell it within a week. We had two offers! So, if you're thinking about it... just call her up. She definitely knows what she's doing. Also I have to shout out to her crew for moving in and out the items. Because our place was left just as it was when the first arrived. Very professional. Definitely recommend them 10000000000000%.
