DO NOT make an appointment on a Monday. If anything (illness, family emergency, etc) occurs during the weekend, which causes you to cancel your appointment, they will bill you $50.00 for a missed appointment. I became extremely ill on the Saturday prior to my Monday 2:30 PM appointment. Since they are closed during the weekend I left a detailed voice message at their N. La Cholla location on Sunday so staff would know first thing Monday morning that I could not make my appointment. A week later I received a $50.00 bill for a "missed appointment". I had NEVER missed an appointment prior to that. After a week of sending multiple emails and using their online contact form to request the charge be dismissed, they finally removed it. No one from the company ever contacted me by phone or email to explain why I was charged or how I could have notified them sooner. Based on my experience, Desert Palms Physical Therapy is more concerned with making money than patient care. UPDATE: Within 2 hours of submitting my review I received calls from the receptionist and the owner. Coincidence? Of course not. Now the owner is attempting to discredit my review with false statements. First, the missed appointment charge was NOT dismissed upon my initial contact with their office. My first contact began through their web site on Jan. 17, 2024 (see photos) began immediately after I received a text about a $50.00 fee for a missed appointment. I received a payment reminder text almost a week later on Jan. 23, 2024 because they had not waived the charge despite multiple requests to do so. This was confirmed by logging into their PatientPay system. Second, NO ONE contacted me prior to submitting my review. No call, no voice message and no email. Instead of waiving the charge as a "courtesy", how about saying the fee should have NEVER occurred in the first place along with a simple apology? That would have been the resolution. read more

I began physio treatment for my brachial plexus injury in my right shoulder/arm that was inhibiting me from even holding a pen and signing my name. Within 3 weeks of treatment, I feel experienced tremendous results and was able to renew my regimen and get back to normal. I found the staff to be very attentive, pleasant and easy to work with. I never had to wait to start my treatments. The place is well run by a highly qualified physio therapist named Kevin who has a pleasant demeanor and a great deal of knowledge and experience. I was referred to a well known physical therapy place for an impinged shoulder and tendinitis of the rotary cuff. Maybe because of my age I was given 11 sessions of occupational therapy and left there with the same medical issues. Fortunately and I do mean fortunately I found Desert Palm Physical Therapy on N La Cholla. It almost brings me to tears being back to normal after working with Benjamin. He had me doing all the right things to progress back to normal. I have relief from the pain and am in better shape than what I was before I got hurt. Reception is clueless and unhelpful. Received an email prior to my appointment with multiple typos. Looked like a third grader had written it, so this should have been my first clue. When I got there I told the receptionist that I had Aetna health insurance but was under COBRA. She said, "what's that?" Uh - isn't it your job to know something about health insurance? (I said, in my head). I explained what COBRA was and she looked confused. So she went to ask her supervisor what this crazy COBRA thing was, so the supervisor comes out. Unfriendly and confrontational, tells me that yes, my insurance deductible has only had $3 paid on it (last time I checked it was close to $2000). Instead of simply explaining to me in a helpful (or, compassionate!) way why the discrepancy (the plan year starts over July 1) she acted as if I was trying to get away with something. They then told me the first appt. is $75 and subsequent appointments were $70 each. And, they acted surprised that I wasn't going to pay out-of-pocket close to $150 a week for P/T! The only reason they didn't get one star is the place is air-conditioned. And, it's not their fault the US Healthcare system sucks. But, seriously, train your receptionist or hire someone experienced! read more

The physical therapy I received was decent and I really liked the therapist. They overlapped patient schedules a bit so I was left to do my own thing for a little while but at least I was exercising my knee on a regular basis. However, they billed my insurance incorrectly so that it is not covered by my physical therapy benefit (which covers 100% with a copay). They even told me that this has happened to other clients, as well (where the CPT code they billed was not for the same service that the insurance company claims). Unbelievable. And they told me they could not waive the $50 cost of the evaluation, which should've been covered had they billed it correctly. They also won't resubmit the claim with a proper code. This just doesn't make sense for a business... they would've made much more money had they waived this cost and I continued to use their services. read more

This place is great! Even in the middle of Covid when I was concerned about my safety, the pain in my back and hip was severe enough that I was willing to take the risk. I had been to Desert Palms several years ago and had been impressed. However I was even more impressed this time. The safety protocols they put in place due to Covid made me feel very comfortable. Expectations for clients were very clear. Therapists and all staff were always masked. Numerous air filtrations were in use and patients were always separated by 6 feet or more. A+ to these folks. I have used Desert Palms PT multiple times and they are my "go to" therapists. Most recently I received treatment for lower back spasms that were keeping me off the tennis court. Marcus performed an extensive evaluation and isolated the problem. He assigned a gradually increasingly challenging set of exercises designed to alleviate the stress on a specific part of my spine. Since the initial evaluation I have been seen alternately by Marcus and Mike, both of whom are very thorough and creative with their observations and treatment. I went here a few times. I got a different therapist each visit. One, a very small woman, was very unfriendly, if not overtly hostile; one man was friendly; the others were more or less indifferent. The exercises they gave me were totally irrelevant to my back injury. They were all going on about a crazy pelvic contraction. They never even looked at my medical records though they told me I must bring them in. Now they are billing me much more than they said they would since they had assured me that it would all be completely paid for by my insurance thus costing me nothing, which would be more than it was worth anyway. read more

I'm used to a center that does a good job, is reasonably on time with appointments, a center having a therapist who listens and adjusts treatment as necessary. This is one of those centers. At some centers they work on several patients at the same time - really - the insurance overseers aren't onto that type of scam? This place sees only one person at one time. Don't bother with Desert Palms Physical Therapy if you are active duty or retired military. They seem to hate anyone with Tricare insurance. Even if they've received an order from your Primary Care Physician, they don't bother calling you to schedule. Ask your Physician for a referral somewhere else. read more

I broke my wrist and needed physical therapy. Overall a great place my PT Connie was awesome she genuinely cares for her patients and for there recovery. It was a lot more laid back than the original place my dr sent me to (the other place didn't take my insurance kinda glad as the other place was overly busy and crammed together so I decided to try desert palms) DP would be busy but not too bad and everyone is friendly my only complaint is that they overlap you with another patient for part of your appointment thus sometimes you end up waiting around a bit for therapist or helpers to get back to you on what to do next as the PT is bouncing back and forth between patients but that may be common for therapy places so they get more people scheduled ?Either way the PT helped set goals so I could recover in a timely manner. They want to make sure you are doing your exercises etc at home so you keep improving which is a good thing . If I ever need PT again I would return to DP and if anyone needs a arm/hand PT I would highly recommend Connie. read more

There are not enough superlatives to describe the white-glove treatment I have received at Desert Palms. I have had the misfortune of visiting several PT clinics in my time, and this group is without a doubt the best of them. I have worked with three different therapists there (Nicole, Mike and Mark), and each of them was as knowlegeable, attentive and thorough as the next. It really blew me away that so many KNOWLEDGABLE therapists could be working together in the same facility. In my experience with other clinics, there was usually a standout, veteran therapist, and others who sought guidance or approval from him/her. Not here! Every one is consistently exceptional--even the assistants are attentive and work closely with my therapist to ensure their assignments are done in accordance with the therapist's instruction. This is clearly a place where employees love their line of work because they do it with such pride and professionalism. I also feel they genuinely enjoy seeing people recover from injury. They have been so encouraging to me. Really, I can't gush about this place enough! So if you want PROFESSIONAL help from people who LISTEN and who truly want to see you WELL again, do not think twice about Desert Palms. I wasted 7 weeks at another local clinic before finding them and only wish I had complained to my sports medicine doc sooner, as he is the one who suggested I try them out. So glad I did!
