Unfortunately I had the same experience that seems to be very common. I received an emergency referral here and was met with bored unhelpful staff best suited for a walmart than a healthcare setting read more

If you are looking for a hand specialist/surgeon, check out Dr Eric Freedman at Desert Hand Associates. I have Dupuytrens in both hands and Dr Freedman did an amazing job straightening four fingers out. I could not be more pleased with the results. The PT department and especially Yvonne were very successful at getting my fingers back to full range of motion. I am so glad I came across Dr Freedman and Desert Hand Associates. read more

After collapsing and going into anaphylactic shock with dozens of red fire ants on his foot and ankle, my husband was referred to Desert Hands. Fell flat on face and "fileted" his left ring finger. Great medical help! Dr. Fieldman is the best of the best in the Coachella Valley! Husband will not lose finger! read more

Eric Freedman? More like Eric GREEDman! My referral isn't lucrative enough, so he flat out refuses to see me. Things just don't add up (to enough profit). I have a hunk of wood lodged in my finger (have for 3 days now and am naming it Eric to remind me of this excruciatingly painful experience). I don't pay much out of pocket, so things like X-rays and surgery cut into the bottom line. Not only that, they don't even have the decency to tell me. Here's how things go down: 2 days after my Dr.'s referral, they finally call. I speak to the receptionist, Mayra. She asks me if I've had X-rays and I say no and explain a large splinter went clean through my finger and is still in there. She says she'll talk to the dr. and call me back. After an hour I call and am told they don't have a contract with MediCal and can't do it; they sent it back to Kaiser. Why didn't she call to tell me? This is 2 hours before they close on Thursday, 3/29/2018, the day before Good Friday, on which I'm heading out of town for a family thing. I call Kaiser and Kaiser calls BS. They say he is ABSOLUTELY supposed to see me. So, I calls Mayra and I says to her, I says "What gives?" Mayra says GREEDman is denying me care at MediCal prices. Wow, just, wow. Now, I should probably go into this part in a review of PalmSpringsLife.com, considering they named him one of the area's best doctors, but I'll just highlight some of his most spurious claims in their interview with him here: 1. In the article he boasts, "I get back to people as soon as possible." Had he been forthright with me I could've made arrangements to NOT have a painful foreign object in my hand over a long weekend. Not only did he NOT get back to me ASAP, he wasn't going to get back to me AT ALL! 2. Here's his most shameful fabrication: "I treat everyone equally and give patients the time they need." Based on my experience then, he treats everyone equally shitty and maybe we just all need a few more days with our pain and suffering. Ultimately I guess this is a review of the parenting he received, or perhaps they would be appalled to know their son is an uncaring, selfish hypocrite. I wonder. read more

The office staff was very rude and not helpful. My mom was in a lot of pain from her hand and was referred to this office. Instead of the staff explaining the process and being more helpful they were rude. read more

Grandpa developed a bump on his right index finger. We arrived at 8::40 am for a 9:00am appointment with Dr. Freedman. Although we got to see Greg Lanier PA instead. He was very caring and thorough. Gramps has arthritis and a small bone spur at the first joint of his finger. Greg took ex rays and showed us the spur. He recommended several over the counter options as well as shot if it gets worse. Receptionist and staff were very nice and we were seen on time. Highly recommend DHA! read more

Dr Eric Freedman is THE BEST! His staff at the office is wonderful. His staff at the Rancho Mirage Surgery Center is fabulous.

The staff at this office is very rude. To even start of the New Patient is very hard. It amazes me how incompetent the staff are.You can't even book an appointment for a fracture that needs urgent surgery. The wait times in this office there long, and the overall attitude of all this staff is very poor. I would highly not recommend this office, nobody needs to be treated in a terrible way when they are going through a health condition. read more

Dr Freedman is wonderful. He did an amazing job on my wrist. He removed 3 bones and rearranged the rest so that I retained max usage. I could not be happier with the results. And as it turns out I know 2 other friends who he did surgery on, and they have the same feelings. read more

UPDATE: I'm still a fan of Dr. Freedman. The man is fantastic. He's super professional, very easy to talk to, great positive energy. My previous poor rating still stands with the front desk staff, however. If you can get past that, then it's worth it. read more

Dr. Freedman at Desert Hand Associates was great. He checked my hands and diagnosed me right away. He gave me several options and I was on my way. I will definitely see him again if my problem returns. read more

I initially really liked Dr Freedman & believed him to be very professional & compassionate but that proved to be a very wrong judge of character. He saw me & took xrays of my hands & told me that I had arthritis & it was bone on bone & told me my options & I chose a brace to begin with, then when I would ask them if they had got an OK from my insurance I was curtly told no without them even checking my file. Just a flat out no! I believe it's because he treated my mother before & social security denied payment. We were never informed by his office nor received any type of bill or anything but finally received a letter from SS stating that it was denied. So I'm pretty sure that's why he decided to deny me any treatment although I have very good insurance. Seems very unprofessional & petty to me especially when they aren't honest about any of it. I'll definitely be happy to take my business elsewhere. I would not recommend him to anyone! read more

Dr Freedman is an excellent doctor, he did a great job on my sons hand and Greg, Pa is very nice as well enjoyed the interaction between patient and physician made it very easy to talk to both of them. Secretary at the front is super nice as well and very calm with the patients. Chelsea on the other other hand is not very easy to deal with. She shows no compassion to patients, doesn't explain to patients what happens next just put ownership to another facility that they will take care of thing. She needs to learn some customer service it doesn't look good when you have TWO wonderful physicians and you have someone like her ruin your visit. Keep your personal problems at home and know you are here to do a job and deliver customer service. so if Chelsea was not part of this office this would be 5 plus star rating. Thanks read more

Dr. Freedman is fantastic. He was able to diagnose me when no one else could. He did the necessary surgery and I feel so much better. I am sure after my PT I will be even better. I am sure I will ever be 100% but he has helped me so much. His staff is friendly as well. read more

Desert Hand Associates - Orthopedists Near Me - Palm Desert, California

The office had weird vibes and the receptionists didn't seem friendly at all. I had a consultation with Greg Lanier, P.A because Dr. Freedman was on a month long vacation. The guy was knowledgeable in his field of work but seemed very anxious and impatient, his eyes were strangely dilated as well, odd fellow indeed. After sensing the lack of initiative and confidence to proceed with the minor hand surgery and reading a few reviews just now, I doubt I will be returning. read more

Medically, Dr Friedman was outstanding. I was quite nervous about carpal tunnel surgery. He was very positive and friendly in the operating room. He put me at ease and the staff at Rancho Mirage Surgery center was great. Once in the OR, I felt absolutely nothing and was done in about 15 minutes. I have had no problems post op and found the experience nothing but the most positive. I would certainly go to him again with any hand problems. The four star rating is only because of the office policy of putting your credit card on file so he can bill for any co-pay. I understand the need for it but don't necessarily agree with it. Had it not been for that I would have given him, his office and Rancho Mirage Surgery Center a 5 star+++. read more

Greedy greedy greedy. I agree with the gentleman who's post is down 2 from mine. They wanted their money for the office visit upfront. I have a A program that pays for all my co-pays. All I need them to do is to bill me and the program I'm on will send them a check. I asked if my hand needs operated on do they need the money upfront. They said yes they would not bill me. I don't know I think you should worry more about the patient's health then how much money he has in his pocket. I'm on disability right now so it's very important that they bill me, whoever answered the phone also was very rude she didn't even want to hear about the program she says pay upfront we don't bill people. I am an HIV a man who fortunately gets my insurance and co-pays paid by a state program. I even offered to give them the number of the program so that they can speak to them and ensure payment it's funny because I've had several operations and had to see a specialist for different problems and everyone excepted the program. They still get 80% from the insurance company. I'd rather go somewhere else if that's the way they want to treat people. I wrote this post because of my frustration with that, I had to vent to somebody. They were insured of 100%. And yet they would not see me read more
