I've worked with many doctors as a patient coordinator, and Dr Reckard is an exceptional doctor, bar none. Unfortunately, one must go through his front office to schedule appointments, and their social skills are zip, zero, and zilch. I asked one woman if they had received my other referral and she acted so put upon, as though I had asked her to detail my car. With great drama she checked the system and then sighing, she stated that they had received the referral. I asked to schedule an appointment and she flatly stated, "We're closing." (This was at 4:23 PM in the afternoon.) I replied, "I am standing right here and I would like to make an appointment with Dr Reckard." The woman simply sat at her desk and said nothing. Another younger woman jumped up and said, "I'll call you tomorrow! I'll call you tomorrow!" to which I replied, "Why, when we can schedule the appointment right now?" to which the second woman replied, "We're about to close." I shook my head in disbelief and said, "It's 4:23 PM and the two of you have spent more time refusing to make an appointment than it would've taken to make the appointment." The first one continued to simply sit there at her desk, unresponsive, while the second one stood at the window with a blank stare. Sad, sad, sad. It is so unfortunate that Dr Reckard, an amazing doctor, would have such rude, petulant, and unprofessional front office staff.

I was suffering with some severe problems in the bottom area, and he made this uncomfortable position and topic an easy thing to go through. I felt better the minute we spoke and when I left I felt like I could get through this with him as my physician with this issue. I felt relief and for the first time in a long time and I felt confident that someone cared. His manner is very easy going yet also very professional and I found him very knowledgeable not only to me but to others in the office as well. Prescribed drug with onerous side effects - and wasn't working, instead of switching upped dose 50% making patient very ill. Did not listen to patient or managing specialist on the case. Refused both phone calls and appointments. Switched to another infectious disease doc who said: "why are you still on this drug; it clearly isn't working?" as tests confirmed. She changed medication to one that is working and keeping condition under control. Combination of medical arrogance and apparent disregard for patients and their input (characteristic of too many Eisenhower senior specialists) leads to mistakes and potentially serious medical consequences. My life changed in April 2015 when I was told by my primary care physician that I now needed to…read moretake a daily medication for diabetes and if I did not make a change soon, I would soon be insulin dependent. I was also suffering from high blood pressure that was borderline needing medication, I was vitamin deficient and I had extremely irregular periods due to my hormone imbalance which made it next to impossible to plan for a baby. In addition to my medical/health problems, I was also suffering from depression, lack of sleep, swollen joints that made it difficult to walk which led to feeling overwhelmingly like a failure which further increased my depression which increased my need to eat. I also felt like an outsider in my own culture - Asian women are not typically overweight. After receiving this diagnosis, I realized that I had hit rock bottom. I needed to take control of my life and make a decision for ME and MY HEALTH. After careful consideration, I decided that the Gastric Sleeve surgery was the best option for me and I am extremely happy with my decision and the results. My surgery was on 9/29/2015 at the Chapman Global Medical Center in Orange County, I weighed 296 lbs. I was able to leave the hospital the next afternoon and I have felt amazing ever since. I joked with Dr. Bobby, asking him if he really did the surgery because my recovery was so smooth and I was feeling so great but this is expected when you have the best surgeon in the country! Plus, the bill from the anesthesiologist is proof that it did happen :) I was able to stop taking the diabetes medication right after surgery, I now sleep throughout the night without snoring (my husband is very appreciative), my blood pressure is normal and I have regular periods which means my hormones are now in balance. Now, instead of worrying about not being able to plan for a baby, my husband and I are being careful to NOT get pregnant right now in the middle of my weight loss journey! Today is 3/17/2016, just a few weeks shy of 6 months after surgery, and I weigh 199.6 lbs! I have lost 96.4 lbs! I am very active now - I work out 5 days a week, I eat healthy but most importantly, I am actually LIVING and THRIVING now!
