I could write a book about my experience with this team. I was lucky enough to find them for my wedding right when I was running out of options in the desert. During our initial discovery call James was extremely transparent, super funny, and we just really hit it off. And those we're all qualities that I really needed in all of my wedding vendors. Their quote was by far one of the most competitive in the desert. Take it from me I literally spoke to everyone available and they blew everyone out of the water. So if pricing is important to you I would definitely start here. For our tasting they we're super accommodating and drove out to us ALL the way in LA for a private experience where we could meet them, taste the food, and truly bond. My (now) husband and I we're blown away not only by the food but by them making the trip out to us. The food: guys...it was perfect. High-end, made with quality ingredients, and beautifully presented. I received SO many compliments about the food, the portions, the quality, and the speed of service. When you think of wedding food you usually have to compromise somewhere but they OVER delivered. (For context, this was a crowd of close to 90.) I didnt know this until after the fact but they went as far as making a gluten-free dessert option for my maid of honor. An item that wasnt on the menu, but it just goes to show how much they care about the little details. The service: From start to finish James was a partner not just a vendor. He was super helpful, even when I needed to bounce ideas of him he was there. The staff he hired for the event we're all so amazing, and helpful. Literally 10/10 service. OMG! Could not say enough amazing things!! Setting up the contract, menu, and payment was a breeze. They were very communicative and provided reminders for payments and arrival time. Food was delicious and plenty enough to feed a large group of rowdy and hungover ladies! The chefs were wonderful, kind, and attentive. After making sure we were all plated up they refilled our drinks and gave us some time alone to chat and eat. We had an array of Asian themes to chicken Caesar to salmon, Filet Minon to waffles to breakfast burritos. They did not disappoint this year either! We were in Palm Springs for a bachelorette party and after a long spa day, having a private chef cook us dinner was exactly what we needed. If I could give 100 stars. Been in the event world as a planner for about 10 years and if I could sum up the pinnacle of hospitality, this company is at the top. Let's start from the beginning. Amazing customer service, quick to answer any questions. Created a custom menu for a phenomenal price. Event day: Shows up early. (BIG win for me in the planner world) SAVES MY ASS when my wedding cake fell apart in the car. The OWNER of this catering company shows up ( she's incredible btw) and completely fixes the cake. It toppled over in the car on transit from Orange County, she made frosting to match, completely reshaped the cake and covered it in flowers. I didn't even tell the bride and groom, they had no idea about the cake save. Best appetizers I have ever had ( we had chicken and waffle bites, ceviche shooters, fig/cheese bites, home made artisan pizzas. Live action stations that the guests are STILL TALKING ABOUT. Mediterranean spread, street taco spread, sides and more. Serving staff was absolutely wonderful and kind as well. THEN THE ICING ON THE END OF THE NIGHT...They left the kitchen/work area cleaner than they found it. Like so clean I could lick the counters. If I could give more stars, I would. From my first inquiry four months before the 50th Birthday party I was planning, all the way to when the Desert Dine team left the kitchen spotless at the end of the night, my entire experience with James & Desert Dine could not have been better. When I first contacted James, I had already been in touch with a few other catering companies, so I could tell James was different. I did not deal with the chef right from the start at any of the others, as I did with James. Not only was James more engaged and interested in what type of event I wanted to have, he was also very thoughtful in his suggestions both for food options, but also for other types vendors for the party as well, specifically bartending options and live music entertainment sources, when he didn't have to be. And James was incredibly responsive and quickly available whenever I had a question or possible change throughout the party planning process, including multiple times the day of the party. And then finally - the food. The food was excellent. Every single item James and his team served our 35 guests was amazing. Simple, fresh, flavorful, and flawless. The team did an excellent job of pacing what food to serve when, making sure everyone had just enough food at all times, but also making sure not to be too in the way. I booked a private breakfast with Desert Dine for my sister's bachelorette. I am giving them 3 stars because there was a balance of negatives and positives. At first, I was in contact with James. I asked for a quote and he was very helpful at first. We talked on the phone and he said he would get me a quote the next day. 2 days passed and I had not heard anything, so I reached out to him again. He took a while to respond and told me he would get it to me by the end of the day. Again, he did not get back to me so I reached out again. He told me he would get back to me at the end of the day. A week passes and I hear nothing, so I reach out again. This pattern continues on over the course of about three weeks. At this point I am frustrated after not hearing anything back about a quote. Eventually, Freedom takes over and I am no longer in contact with James. She is quick to get me a quote and I go through with the booking. They even offered to create personalized notes for each of our guests to give to the bride. I thought this was a very nice touch. Everything seemed like it would be perfect and I was very excited to surprise my sister with this. I wanted the breakfast to be at 10 am since we had other plans throughout the day. Freedom told me she would show up to the house at 9 am to start the preparations for the breakfast. She made sure we had all of the necessary things for the breakfast, and if we did not she offered to buy the items for us, which was very impressive. The morning of, Freedom showed up an hour late-- at 10 am instead of 9 am. She did do a lot of preparation off site, but we still had to wait a while when she got there and did not end up eating until about 11 am. Since she arrived late, we felt as though we were not given the proper service. She seemed to be stressed out and in a rush. We had a waffle bar, omelettes, potatoes, and bacon & sausage. I personally requested not to have an omelette, but I still wanted to be served bacon, sausage, and potatoes. After I realized everyone had been done eating for about 10 mins, I noticed that I still had not been served and she was already cleaning the kitchen. I asked where my plate was, and she said she thought I didn't want an omelette. Well, no, I didn't want an omelette, but that doesn't mean I didn't want the other items... luckily there was still a plate left on the counter that had not been served. Although it was cold, it was good. I did not have an omelette, so I cannot review those, but one of our guests did mention that they were very runny and wet. I was expecting much better from Desert Dine but I think we ended up being let down over all. There was a lot of great things about them, but I think the bad outweighed the good. I think that Freedom being late did not allow her to give the greatest service and the best-tasting meal possible. I would say our experience was just average. Amazing experience! Worked with James to set up the event. I wanted to throw a brunch at the house we rented in Palm Springs for a bachelorette weekend. I told him exactly what I wanted and he promptly put together a menu and quote for us. Closer to the event he connected me with the chef Jeffrey who was prompt, professional and friendly throughout the whole experience. He even arrived with balloons that matched our decor for the weekend and of course amazing food! We did charcuterie boards, waffle bar, and made to order omelettes with the cheesecake for desert (don't skip out on this..it was amazing) The whole experience was fantastic. Given the restrictions with large groups dining right now due to covid19 this was a perfect way for us to all feel comfortable, be together and enjoy amazing food- poolside!
