I moved to Provo a year and a half ago, and I am shocked at how much the prices have increased at this DI just in that amount of time. The kids clothes are priced outrageously. $8 for a size 2T Nike sweater with the logo peeling off. $5 for a size 12 month long sleeve t-shirt from Kohls. $5 for a size 18 month jumpsuit from Old Navy. Some of these items were probably a similar price or less expensive when they were purchased new! This is not a consignment store. These items are donated for FREE. Any price they're sold at is a profit for DI. Please, bring back reasonable, thrift store prices! read more

The cashier Maria didn't know how to count basic change (pennies vs. dimes) and couldn't process a simple split payment between cash and card. She acted like I was the one causing the issue, even though it was a normal transaction. Very unprofessional and frustrating experience. read more

I like to go through the drive through at DI to send off donations regularly. The workers at DI are always efficient and friendly. I only have to stop here for 2 mins to unload and then I'm off! It's very easy to make donations at DI. read more

We love this place!! But you have to have no expectations on what you will find! You just never know what might be there?? That's the fun of the hunt!! I found two of the mermaid tail blankets in great condition for only a few bucks each!! And a brand new Ticket to Ride game for a few bucks too! Clothes are great too!! We will be back!! read more

I love thrifting. I thrift to resell. This location only has garbage. I never find anything of value here. Much better off at the Saver's in SLC (Midvale and Draper locations especially). The only things I buy here are for cheap costumes, but never anything I'd actually wear. It's all Faded Glory and Downeast. read more

Just another of the Wasatch Front's Deseret Industries stores. We actually stopped here with an unruly group of Boy Scouts on our summer camp (where I currently am, writing a review... yes... it's sickness but I miss you) and it's a solid and large location. We were doing a service project, but that didn't stop me from going in and perusing. Playing around while I should be in the back sorting clothes? Hardly! Those vintage gardening and baking books aren't going to find themselves, and when you're on the hunt for great wingtip shoes or an old fashioned ice cream maker, the D.I. is the place to be, not matter where you are. And don't get me started on cheese graters... It's got all the sections, and the stock is a bit better organized and sorted thanks to a rowdy crew of boys I know. read more

The thrift shop was well kept and the workers were very nice however the store did not have a large selection of shoes and accessories. There was lots of clothes but some things were overpriced for the quality. Would recommend if your looking for a quick thrift trip. read more

The first thing I noticed upon entering this Deseret Industries is that it's HUGE! This is seriously the largest DI I've ever seen. Inside you'll find all manner of clothing for man, woman, and child; tons of toys and electronics; home goods and furniture; and all manner of other items. Prices were cheap. Staff was friendly. In the last two trips to this Deseret Industries location, I've obtained the following: a picture of a unicorn on finished wood, entitled "Night Watch," Audobon's "Birds of America," a three foot tall cement knight lamp, Shannon Hale's "Book of a Thousand Days," a souvenir mug from Lake Tahoe circa 1985, an enormous finished wooden clock with a picture of Pegasus, and a life-sized ceramic bunny. This is, hands down, my favorite Deseret Industries at the moment. Great glass case section, great book section. Amazing furniture and electronics sections. This is the most over priced thrift store in town. They ridiculously mark up donated items that were received for free. I've seen far to many clothes that should be in the garbage and instead are priced really high. It's outrageous! Dear Deseret Industries, I recently entered your establishment hoping to find some terrible looking furniture at a reasonable price. I did find a wide assortment of terrible looking furniture but at prices that would bankrupt most small countries in Africa. I understand that you are a business and as such you are trying make a profit. But you do receive the items for free, so maybe a 4,000 percent mark up is a little steep. I found a small plastic shelving until for 35.00 recently, I also found the exact same unit at Walmart for 27.50. I say goodbye to you! Have a wonderful time scamming the good people of Utah. Also please start paying your handicapped employees at least minimum wage, you pay them the handicapped workers wage which is far lower. That is just sleezy, not to mention ridiculously un-Christ like. It is easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God! read more

I love the rotating selection here and the way delightfully random stuff always turns up. I've found some truly gorgeous clothes (that actually fit! Especially since they finally started divvying them up by size), and a ton of fun little trinkets and what in the old days used to be called notions (basically a nice word for bric-a-brac), all of which can be used as is or re-purposed into other things. I've made book covers out of falling-apart purses, a bead curtain out of broken necklaces and costume jewelry, and kitty furniture out of loose boards and carpeting. I LOVE browsing in here. It's like a delightful ongoing flea market, but with air conditioning. I've been known to lose half a day in this store just looking at stuff. Or sometimes just trying to figure out what the heck something even is. The prices vary - some things you have to be careful about and sometimes prices depend on what section something is in. I've found picture frames for $1 in the frames section and the exact same ones going for $5 or more in the collectibles cases. On the plus side, if something is damaged they will sometimes - SOMEtimes - knock off a few cents from the sticker price; as long as you are civil and are willing to take whatever verdict they give you (and also are not the reason the thing is damaged - they do have plainclothes security keeping an eye out for that kind of malarkey, so, you know. Be cool). The floor staff does rotate quite a bit - D.I. is also a job-training deal, and the non-administrative employees are required to move on after a certain amount of time - so sometimes the service is hit or miss. These last few months have been pretty good, and Elsa, especially, is a total sweetheart. The only issue I've had in months came from today, when an employee followed me around the store glaring with open hostility every time I so much as took a breath, and then a friend of mine saw me in the furniture section and came over to talk to me and this guy took to glowering at HER with sheer hatred. Just stood there with his angry laser eyes pinned on her. I don't know what he thought he was doing. Or what he thought I was doing. Or what he thought SHE was doing. None of us had ever met before, so it's not like there was some dark backstory between us. Maybe he was channelling Kylo. Anyways, the only reason this isn't five stars is because that guy was super creepy rude and I tried to find a way to submit a complaint online and the website feedback form only gives you the opportunity to offer feedback about the website. read more

I'm not a frequent shopper, but sometimes it's fun to look around. The prices have seemed to rise, but they do have employees to pay and a building to maintain so naturally it's going to be more pricey than a yard sale. The toy aisle is a nightmare, so if you're looking for vintage toys be prepared to dumpster-dive. Does it have to be so cluttery? I would love to go through the place to organize a bunch of stuff. It's okay to throw stuff away! Get some buckets and categorize! See? This is why I'm not a frequent thrift-shopper. Can't handle it. read more

This is by far the highest priced Deseret Industries I've seen. I purchased a beautifully framed piece of art today that would have been $30-$40 at most other locations (if that) but was priced at $75 here. There were vintage bicycles that had been priced at $200 (yes, $200!) but were marked down to $160 because they hadn't sold over the weekend. These are not thrift store prices and are most certainly not in the spirit of a "non profit." I spoke with the manager, Ken, because I had purchased a larger, equally nice piece of art the day prior at a different location for $25 and was puzzled by the pricing difference. For merchandise to be priced so high that it doesn't sell over an extremely busy weekend at a thrift store is insane! Ken was firm on the price which was within his right but then he proceeded to approach me a few minutes later about a popular red tricycle I had in my cart that I had just found in the yard area with a sticker on it for $10. It was a good deal which is what one would expect from a NON PROFIT. He told me it was marked wrong and should be $45! It wasn't outright stated but very much implied that I must have changed the price sticker. Honestly I was stunned. This location feels like one big cash grab. Pretty shameful. read more

This is my first D.I. as I am from a state that does not have them. It's huge, and has a wide variety of clothes and household items such as furniture and toys. Their shoe section is my favorite, very nice. My girls love picking out a toy from their 50 cent section every time we go. The staff is nice and very helpful, and the place is pretty well organized. Overall I'd say I was pretty pleased with this second hand store. read more
