I've been here twice and the first time, the pawn broker wouldn't stay open 10 minutes before the closing time and just flat out denied me because I had to go home and get my renewed paper license. I get that it's his call on when to close but the excuse he gave was that it would take him 30-40 minutes to get me into the system and anyone who's ever been to a pawn shop knows that that's blatantly false. I just went today for the second time, I thought maybe last time was a fluke. So I show up, present my items and he gives me a quote on only 1 thing and that was $4. He was going to ring it up but I asked for it back because I needed to groceries by today and I would've liked to get ride of the other 3 things I had instead of going all over town. I asked for it back and he straight up accused me of "talking at/looking at [him] like [he's] an a**hole" simply because I asked for the item back and told him why. I still have zero idea why he thought or said that. I was disappointed and looked him in the eye and said that I didn't mean anything by that, I was only disappointed because I would've had to go to another city to try pawning there and I was more or less out of gas. it was just a big inconvenience at that specific moment but I absolutely said nothing bad or negative to him. We briefly talked about it and he backed off after which I packed my things and amicably split from him. I googled a pawn shop closer than his referral to go to another city and luckily it was still open so I went in, sold my all my stuff and got about 100 dollars in the span of 10 minutes. I've been to a few different shops here and there and VIP was easily the worst experience I've ever had at a pawn shop. I was reticent to write any sort of review the first time because maybe it just wasn't a good day but the service person (tall, big guy, shave head with a beard) confirmed himself to be a run of the mill jerk. I'll never go back there nor will I recommend it to anyone. Just a weirdly random aggressive interaction from that dude. I don't act any differentLu at any other pawn shop or business and I did try to take that into thought after I easily sold my stuff at the second store so I'm confident that I wasn't trying to do anything. Well, you don't see this every day: An art gallery in a mall…read more The Provo Towne Centre mall generously donated one of their spaces (and quite an ample space) to ARTcetera, a display space showing off art for local students from the Provo City School District. They do a great job of putting in art from different age groups, from elementary schoolers to high school seniors. It's very dynamic and colorful with collages and paintings and I was surprising at the variety of styles ... quite sophisticated for high schoolers! There are also some cool educational displays, from How to Print a Linocut to murals. I was impressed by the mini exhibitions with bios of the artists. Heck, I was impressed by everything. From what I learned (via the director, James Rees), they are open to ideas and artists, so anyone and any group in the community may be showing their work at ARTcetera in the future. They also have art classes (many on Saturday, especially in the summer), so you may want to contact them for more information. When you add this to the Neighborhood Art Center, the mall is quite the place for the young and creative. It's a great addition to the mall. And to the community.
