I got a great book on tape about Mitt Romney here called "A Mormon in the White House" by Hugh Hewitt. It's really good.

This used to be a great store when Don was the owner. Don…read moreis gone, but his wife Renee is now running the shop. Now it is terrible. We used to buy childrens books here almost weekly, their selection is decent while extremely unorganized. (Don't trip on the piles of books). Don was great, as he was always friendly and helpful, and it was clear he had a deep passion and love for books. We would bring in trade books as our kids grew up and outgrew their books, and they would discount any new purchases based on how much trade credit we had with them. The books were always priced well and reasonably, and while disorganized, it was the closest bookstore we had. it was always fun to look for treasures, and chat a bit with Don. Things went completely downhill when his wife took over the business. She got rid of the friendly cashiers and replaced them with what appears to be her friends, who know next to nothing about books, and are constantly in bad moods or throw attitude. Last week we were in line and the grey haired lady rand up a guy in front of us, saying nothing, then mockingly said something along the lines of "This is where you give me the credit card so that you pay", without saying anything else to him. No idea why she was so mad as a quiet customer who was confused by herr terrible attitude. We wanted to leave immediately, but we had two books to buy, so we had to deal with the aftermath. Then when we were checked out, she grumpily told us the price without looking at us. What on earth is happening here now. When we got home, we saw that the books were priced 1 or 2 dollars more than the new price, so even with our discount, we were practically paying new prices for books in fairly poor condition. We will be going elsewhere in the future. We just wish a decent bookstore would open in our area so we don't have to drive to Half Price. Maybe when his wife gives up, it will prompt someone else to open a shop who actually cares.

It was so easy to drop off & receive credit for our books! Credit received is more than fair &…read morebooks in store are priced well with a HUGE variety to choose from.

I visited this b&n location after visiting the Arden and Folsom location, and I was very excited to find that they were carrying a specific book that I couldn't find at the other two. A bookseller even came by to talk about the book with me and she was absolutely raving about it. I spent quite some time in this store, and was very surprised when she remembered me at checkout! I got a chance to chat with her and the bookseller at the cash register over about the book and what a pleasure it was. They've got a repeat customer out of me!

This store is a gem. The staff is so kind, eager to help you find what you need (and order it if…read morethey don't have it), and very well-versed in both their products and Steiner philosophy. The store has a large education section, brimming with curriculum materials for Waldorf teachers, curious parents, and those who are homeschooling. In the back room is a lovely toy selection, with sturdy, well-made and beautiful toys such as one might find in a Waldorf classroom or kindergarten. Their hand-made dolls are stunning! One of my favorite parts of the store is the selection of beautiful beeswax candles, and also the craft and art supplies. Lots of books on felting, knitting, doll-making, rose windows, and the materials for the craft projects, along with a nice selection of Stockmar crayons and Lyra pencils. Also, this is one of the few places one can find beeswax and main lesson books (they make lovely journals, or scrapbooks, in addition to their educational uses). Regarding the previous review by Sabina, I've returned items on different occasions and have never encountered a problem. This is a small store and they probably can't afford to accept back trashed merchandise as a "loss" (like Wal-mart or something). It's unfortunate to write off a beautiful, unique store for one miscommunication. **Now you can also order their products on-line through their website! Fantastic!**

Having attended Rudolf Steiner College for several years of training and loving almost every minute…read moreof it, I was super disappointed with the experiences I had in the RS campus bookstore. Yes, it was clean and brightly lit, with all sorts of lovely 'Waldorf' approved items for sale including make-up, art supplies and texts but my overall experience with service was the pits. My story is this: I bought books the first week of school that were not to be used until the second week and when the professor decided the text (Percival) was not to be used... the bookstore would not take it back. According to them the cover was bent. It had sat in my car with absolutely no use for a week. I explained that the bend was from shelf wear..not my car but they wouldn't have it. I appealed to their shift manager who again told me the same thing and then asked me to leave. How embarrassing!!! I left the book on the counter, attempting to give them the book for free so that it could find another home that needed it and they refused to take it back as a gift saying it was used. For a campus that prides itself on sustainable behaviors I found this totally silly! I walked down to the library and left it there like it was some sort of peace offering. Anyway..now I go out of my way to use Amazon, eBay and other online resources to get books for my Steiner training...and I have found it is much cheaper and way more friendly! Yea Waldorf boo RS Fair Oaks Bookstore!
