How does this sound about my Dermo experience? I have been a…read morepatient of Dr. Venetos since 2016 and I will no longer go see her. After receiving a diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma in September on my left cheek, I was told that the soonest I would be able to have it removed by a MOHs would be in December. Dr. Venetos asked her "scheduler" to put me down to meet with the MOHs that comes to her office once a month.  Because I was uncomfortable waiting, and I saw the name of the MOHs who would be coming to Dr. Venetos' office on my patient portal, I decided to call the MOHs and ask if she could get me in to have the procedure sooner. I said that I would even drive to where her office is. The MOHs doctor was able to get me in right away at her office so I scheduled the appointment. I called Dr. Venetos' office to let them know and to check on another biopsy I had removed. I then scheduled an appointment with Dr. Venetos to discuss what to do with the second biopsy, which was not cancer but another skin issue. When I went in for this appointment, I was taken back to the exam room and immediately Dr. Venetos' "scheduler" came in and began questioning me as to why I thought I could make my own appointment with the MOHs. After several minutes, Dr. Venetos came in and the two women were obviously very angry with me. Their questioning and scolding went on, even after I had broken down into tears.  I was told that Dr. Venetos would send me to a different MOHs she also works with. Then she said that she didn't even think I needed any more of the carcinoma sight removed because she "thought" she already got it all off. She then began to speak unprofessionally about the MOHs that I would have seen in her office saying that she would prescribe treatments I wouldn't need and over charge me for the procedure. I was confused as to why they were fine with me seeing this particular MOHs in Dr. Venetos' office, but not at the MOHs office. Dr. Venetos would rather I go to a different MOHs that she would recommend. Dr. Venetos' "scheduler" cancelled my appointment at the MOHs office that I had and put me BACK on their schedule to see the same MOHs but at Dr. Venetos' office in December. I left Dr. Venetos' office visibly upset and still crying and never discussing the skin condition I originally made the appointment for. I have never heard from Dr. Venetos or her "scheduler" to make sure I was okay after their aggressive behavior and to further explain their aggression towards me.  I have since had my MOHs surgery, after requesting my medical records to no longer be a patient of Dr. Venetos'. I have never been treated so hostile at a doctor's office. The lack of caring and well being for their longtime patient was beyond obvious. I was NOT the priority to them at all, and even though I was scared and concerned about the skin cancer on my face, they could have cared less and were very hostile towards me and even belittled my concerns. Because of this, I am no longer a patient of Dr. Venetos. She and her "scheduler" were unprofessional, uncaring, and truly cruel towards me. I will never put my health in the hands of someone so unsympathetic.

Situated right between Red Robin and Gurnee Hyundai on the corner of Grand and Hunt Club, he's right around the corner from my house. A board certified dermatologist, Dr. Panine can also work on age spots, bumps, and many other little nits that bother you. He takes insurance for regular visits. Alas, my insurance doesn't cover erasing years from my face, so I'm sticking with paralyzing my muscles for now. I'm happy to report that three small pricks on each side of the corners of my face which was numbed for about 15 minutes under an ice mask has COMPLETELY eradicated my crow's feet. That's certainly worth the price. There were no side effects. It took a couple of days to really work. I just wonder how long it will last? Surprisingly, nobody noticed, even my husband of 32 years. You'd think he would have memorized every detail by now, but no. Doesn't matter! I can tell, and that's who matters in the end. What wasn't the most pleasant was a wait of 45 minutes after checking into reception on time. When I asked the attendant how much longer, I was whisked back to treatment room within 5 minutes where a very friendly and attractive attendant briefly chatted and gave me the mask to numb my face. Dr. Panine was no nonsense. He didn't really consult with me. I told him that I wanted my crow's feet done and he did it in a matter of 10 minutes. He also told me that this little patchy dry spot on my temple was not cancer. Hoo-ray! I'd heard about the slippery slope of plastic surgery, botox, and fillers so I guess it's no surprise that I'm increasingly bothered by the remaining wrinkles under my eyes and the deep nasolabial lines around my mouth. I sense more botox in my future and possibly a couple of vials of Juvederm to shave a few years off my face. I promise I'll stop before Carrot Top syndrome sets in.

I was looking for the hours this place is open before calling, and saw the negative review... And…read morejust had to write my own. I'm fairly certain I've seen pretty much all of the dermatologists here over the years, since I was a very young child, for my severe skin conditions. I've seen Dr. Solomon, Kimberly(sp?), Dr. Dubin(I think his name is), Sarah, and Alyssa... The honest truth of dealing with skin conditions is that it takes work. Some things that work for you will not work for other people as well. And it's not just moisturizers, creams, etc.... Lots of things can affect your skin. Using very hot water during a shower can be harder on your skin. Using certain shampoos and soaps can be less friendly on your skin. Even diet can affect certain conditions. Drinking alcohol is said to be bad for a number of conditions, for example. Dove gentle soap is generally a good bet. CeraVe and Eucerin are generally good brands. Try to check for manufacturer coupons online / in-store. That's another thing - this office sometimes has coupons for stuff like this, or samples... And that's honestly great they do that. The last time I went in (last week or so), i was also given some coupon cards to use with some prescriptions... although they are probably ultimately given by the manufacturing company for those products, it's still nice. I really want to stress that sometimes things you can use and be given can take a long time to work. It might have a cumulative effect, or it might not be the best one for you. I've honestly given up sometimes on using medicine because I'm not seeing the progress. You just have to stick with it, be patient, and be willing to try new things.

He also recommended a full body skin examination. The skin exam was done by Allyssa, a certified physician's assistant. She is extremely professional and respectful, as well as a great person. I recommend this dermatology practice to anyone concerned about their skin health.

This place pulled a classic doctor's office bait-and-switch and seemed relatively confident that they'd gotten away with it; I'd scheduled an appointment months in advance with Dr. Solomon as he'd been recommended to me, but when I arrived for my appointment, the doctor who walked into the exam room was Dr. Dubin. He was friendly, but ultimately dismissive of the issue I had come in for, which was a minor and uncomplicated removal, but after looking at it for a few minutes, said we could schedule a future appointment to have it removed. (Really? He couldn't have just done it then and there?) Then he left, as abruptly as he had arrived. I specifically wanted to see Dr. Solomon for this removal, so I asked to speak to a manager, who shrugged apathetically and said Dr. Solomon never worked on the weekends, so I must have known I was scheduling an appointment with Dr. Dubin. They said I could schedule ANOTHER appointment for a SECOND consult with Dr. Solomon, but that I couldn't see him for the removal as he'd never seen me. I asked if I would be billed for a second consult, given that they had not booked me with the doctor I had requested and had been promised at the time of scheduling, and they said yes, I would. I refused, and escalated until a manager finally booked me to come in for a removal with Dr. Solomon. When I came in for this appointment, the nurse made a big show of getting the room ready and laying out the instruments, and in came Dr. Solomon. He obviously had an attitude from the get go, and brusquely inspected the area where the removal was to be done, then demanded to know why he had to remove it. He then left the room, brought Dr. Dubin back with him, and made Dr. Dubin show him exactly why he thought a removal was necessary. His attitude to his colleague was condescending and disrespectful, and Dr. Dubin was visibly uncomfortable at being put on the spot and having his medical judgment questioned in front of a patient. Dr. Dubin made his case and Dr. Solomon immediately shot him down, saying that it was nonsense and that there was no reason to remove it. He then stormed out of the room and the nurse told me I was free to go. I walked out of their office after only five useless minutes in the exam room with absolutely zero resolution to the issue for which I'd originally come. I do not understand why I as the patient was punished for what seemed to be an extremely dysfunctional relationship between providers and their staff. I know for a fact I requested to see Dr. Solomon for my original appointment and that that's who I was told my appointment was with. I don't know why the staff of this office would voluntarily lie just to move patients through the door. I don't blame Dr. Dubin, but it was frustrating to get brushed off on what effectively seemed to be their second rate doctor (considering how poorly Dr. Solomon treated him and how he belittled and outright humiliated him in front of a patient) when I knew exactly what service I wanted and which doctor I wanted to see. Staff was dismissive at all times, and everything management said to me was laced in the condescending tone of, "You're just another dumb patient and you don't know any better." The entire experience with this office was overwhelmingly disappointing and left a bad taste in my mouth. I ended up rescheduling for a consult with Advanced Dermatology in Lincolnshire. Their provider saw me once, was happy to do the removal, and had completed it in less than ten minutes. No follow-up was needed and it healed perfectly.

I made an appointment with Amy, Dr. Venetos assistant, because she was the only one available in a timely manner (took 2 weeks to get in.) The office is nice enough - I showed up only 5 mins early for my appointment but still filled out paperwork, was seen by Amy, and done in 45 minutes. That part I liked! Amy was nice enough. I had scheduled an appointment for a spot on my face that was concerning me, but by the time I got in to her office, 2 weeks later, it had mostly cleared. She confirmed it was nothing to be worried about and then asked if I wanted to do a full head-to-toe exam while I was there. I agree because I know this is something I should do annually. Amy was very thorough - starting with my scalp and working all the way down to the bottom of my feet (I've never even looked there, myself!) and she checked all my nooks and crannies (ears, in between my fingers and toes, etc.) My only comment (not really a complaint) was that the exam was a little awkward because I was not asked to undress in privacy and then have her examine me. Instead, she had me remove one article of clothing, piece by piece, until I was standing their in nothing but undies. No big deal - just thought it was weird how it all went down. Plus, I'm pregnant and it's not easy to get in and out of my clothes, so that made things awkward for me, while she's standing their watching. All of that aside - she had a good bedside manner and I thought she was thorough. My biggest complaint comes from the fact that she thought there was a suspicious spot on my back, which has been biopsied by a previous dermatologist. She said she wanted to get a copy of those records and that we might need to some more looking into it. That was more than a month ago and I've heard no follow-up. Disappointing - since she made it sound important but then didn't even take the time to follow-up?
