I first went to see Derek in 2013. It has been 10 years. I have consulted him countless times. Recently I was in a bind and could not solve a problem. He gave me some advice and sent me in a direction that I would not have otherwise have taken. I did what he said, although I had my doubts. His advice worked, saved the day. He told me to move to the New Haven area, that he saw me living in a very large apartment and being happy. Now, I grew up in Greenwich, CT. when I tell you that New Haven is the LAST place that I thought I would move to I am not lying to you. But he was right, I ended up moving into this huge apartment in a brand new luxury building off of Wooster square. I resisted writing a negative review for a long time coz I liked Derek a lot. I had 2 readings with Derek - 1 year apart. Sadly, nothing he said came true. I mainly went to Derek for my love life - or lack thereof - issues and he predicted a number of things, none of which sadly came true. The first time, he sent me a recording of my session and I left with a ton of faith. The second time, he seemed distracted and was kind of slow to give feedback. For $175 an hour, I literally wanted to be like, speed it UP buddy! And the worst part of all - the thing that upset me the MOST: He never sent me a recording of my session. I had to follow up 5 times before getting a response, and he told me that my recording got deleted off the server, I was frankly shocked and upset - I was looking forward to listening to my session to see if I could make sense of it later, and I was somehow wrong about the second session being unhelpful. For the amount I paid, he didn't even offer me a compensation session of any kind. So, sadly, even though I thought he was a great guy, I don't believe he has a special gift and won't be going back. read more

Derek by far the best psychic I have come into contact with. He is warm and welcoming, but beyond that, he was spot on with several very obscure things. He predicted that I would have a family meeting in the Middle East. I have a very non-Middle Eastern sounding name, however my mother is middle-Eastern. Sure enough, a month after my reading I was attending a family reunion in Beirut with 35 cousins. There is no way he could have known this, as I wasn't even sure I would be going on this trip. He also predicted I would have fertility treatment, at the time this made no sense, however, I am about to donate an egg to friends. He was able to see that my partner worked in the movie industry, and was from California and I worked in public health. I do not post anything online, so he couldn't have known this! Derek's approach to psychic reading is unique and easy to understand. He did not use tarot cards, but rather a hand-picked post card collection from his travels around the world. These are used a picture cards. With Derek, there are NO cups, spades, pentacles or creepy medieval paintings of wicked Queens, trolls or Grimm reapers! I had never heard of other card readings not using tarot, so I was intrigued. (and I'm sure that derek would be happy to offer you the traditional tarot method if you'd like, but trust me, this was better!) As any (non-mystical) regular person, seeking psychic intuition, I was easily a little skeptical. But from the turn of the first picture card he had my full attention. From there on, almost each and every card was an exact replica of the many thoughts I had spinning in my head. What I liked most about my reading was that I could see the images and understand them clear as day. I could follow along with his thoughts and imagery. These were clear and precise images of people, places, animals. (I mean a picture of a chicken is a picture of a chicken...doesn't get much easier than that.) Derek's readings are for guidance. He doesn't look to tell you your "future." He picks up on your energy to help you through tough decision making. I had a reading a year or so ago. Derek is a really nice guy, but nothing he said came true. I did not move nor did I change my job. He had a vision of me traveling to work across a bridge. This is a tough one for me. I liked Derek. He was nice, sweet and very accommodating. I even found his postcard taro deck kind of charming. But ultimately the reading was way too general and generic to help me in any way. Now I have had country fair or side walk readings on occasion that cost a few bucks and did it purely for entertainment value and didn't put much stock in them but when you spend $175 on a reading, you want more. There was certainly a lot of chatter, but most of it didn't ring true nor did it contain anything I could really use. He made a couple of general predictions that are supposed to materialize in a few month but other than that, It felt like I was having a conversation with a very nice friend who is being supportive and encouraging...which isn't exactly what i go to a psychic for. I walked into Dereks not really saying anything. One of the first things he told me was the girl I'm destined to be with will have Hispanic or Island origins. If one was to make assumptions like some of the other fake Psychics one would assume since I'm Asian that I dated Asian or white women. But I don't, I only date Hispanic and Black women, I didn't tell him that I was only attracted to Latinas or Black women. I dressed in a button up shirt and dress pants and shoes, I speak proper English. There was no way he could just pinpoint the type of women I date. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I'm sorry, but I truly don't understand where all of these great reviews came from. Derek could not have been more vague in his interpretation of the cards. He actually looked at the cards, said a few random things, and then asked me to fill in where I thought that the cards could apply to my life. Um, isn't that kind of why I'm here paying you $175 of my hard-earned money, so you could tell me? After all of that, he switched his opinion back and forth, and pretty much gave me non-answers to everything I asked. This was one of the biggest wastes of money of my life and I feel completely scammed. Never for a minute did I get a sense that he has any clairvoyant ability whatsoever. I had a telephone reading with Derek. He pulled 12 images from his collection of around 600 and arranged them according to "houses" such as work, love, challenges, etc. All of his insights were right on, in many cases not because of the cards themselves but rather through his interpretation of them for me specifically. He nailed my present situation both in terms of work, friends, past experiences, and love life. And his description of my personality and interests, likes and dislikes, was uncannily accurate. He was also correct when he predicted travel in the near future to a Spanish-speaking place. He also turned out to be right when he said a significant shift toward a more positive perspective would happen in January. I would add that Derek is extremely articulate (without being at all pretentious) and genuine, and struck me as a very compassionate person. Derek is wonderful. I've had 2-3 readings with him over the last few years and his intuition has been really amazing. He is so open and really connects with you during the reading. Yes, he often uses symbols from his postcard tarot deck, or that pop into his head, or that he draws. You shouldn't expect a reading from anyone to give you all the answers to your life but he has definitely given me wonderful clarity and direction. That being said, he has seen things that have totally come to fruition for me. He predicted that I would book a job that would conflict directly with my next vacation and sure enough, I did. He also saw me pole dancing (for exercise, not stripping) and that has become a huge part of my life recently. I am really surprised to see some negative reviews but most of these people (it seems to me) are looking for a fortune teller to tell them exactly how their life will play out and what they should do. If you're on the fence about seeing him I would suggest going through his website and seeing if it speaks to you or not. I visited Derek over a year ago. I'm really surprised to see the positive reviews here. He didn't say a single concrete word about my past or present which would help me understand that he was actually seeing or reading anything. His "predictions" about the future were so vague, it's simply unbelievable they could be called predictions. He was saying things like "I'm seeing you picking up your purse and going somewhere". Each of us picks up our purses and goes somewhere daily! The only not vague thing he said about the future is that I will be travelling to Asia soon. Needless to say, I didn't travel to Asia.
