Showed up for my appointment only to find the doors locked and lights off. After multiple calls and waiting 15 minutes, I left. This was my second attempt at an 8 AM appointment. The first time the stylist was also late. Once they arrived, they had to open up the salon before we could even start services. This location lacks all that dry bar is known for. They rarely seem to have employees working the desk. Stylists are gossiping about each other and the toxicity of the work environment. The ambiance is not what I am accustomed to. I'm sad to say this might be my last Hingham Drybar experience. read more

I made an appointment online about a week ago. The appointment is now in 3 days. Over the past few days, I have called a number of times to cancel, and no one answers the phone. I left two voicemails, canceling, asking for a call back to confirm, since I don't want to be hit with a late cancellation charge or no-show fee. No one has called me. I just called again, at 8:39 a.m. (when the store should be open, according to their online hours), and the place is closed. I have literally called about 12 times over the past few days, and the machine is always on. Such poor form. Having now read other reviews of this place, I'm glad I had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict. Blech. read more

My friend and I went here before a night out, excited to have our hair done. We asked for a big, bouncy blowout with some volume and curls. We were both sincerely disappointed. My friend had her hair curled out on one side and in on the other. My hair had a random poof in the back, off-center part when I asked for a middle part, and there were no curls in the front. They were also very quick to open their venmo's for a tip before I could even register how much I disliked my hair. We had to go home and redo our hair from scratch and did a much better job ourselves. Very disappointing to spend my time and money on something that was wasted. read more

If I could give this location a zero, I would. I had an appointment and they were 30 minutes late. When I finally got in the chair, they told me that they could not do a simple updo that I had booked.. I was very easy-going I said fine that's totally OK let's do a simple braid with some curls they couldn't do the braid apparently and the curls looked like curls that I could do on my own. For the guest that I was with her braid/twist fell out before she even walked out of the door and her curls are also curled that she could have done herself. They spend all of 10 minutes on my hair and I had to redo my hair. The entire time the stylist was complaining about how they had no staff and she was underpaid. Needless to say, I will never go back nor will I recommend this place to anyone. read more

I waited 45 min when my appt was at 8:15. The only acknowledgment was "someone will be right with you." Then they refused to discount or acknowledge the horrible service and so I didn't tip and the stylist tried to attack my character. This location is awful and no one should support it. Extremely rude and terrible service. I walked in early for my 4pm appointment, no one said hello, no one working at the front desk. Finally, at 4:05, I was acknowledged and checked-in but I didn't sit down with a stylist until 4:20. I asked my stylist for big, voluminous brush curls to which she replied "well your hair is pretty fine so I'm not sure how much volume we can get". I've NEVER had an issue with my hair, even doing it myself. She barely washed my hair, was SO rough with the brush, my hair was barely even dry, and then she ran a straightener through it to curl it! The entire process was probably 20 minutes start to finish and I left with fried ends and the worst hair. It was nothing close to what I had asked for. Do yourself a favor and save your money, or go quite literally ANYWHERE else before walking into Derby Street Drybar. read more

Worst service experience of my life. I signed up for a blow dry and a liquid glass application. When I arrived there was no one at the front to check me in and both stylists working with clients just looked at me and stared without bothering to give me a simple "hello... someone will be right with you". When my stylist was finally free (10 minutes late) she never introduced herself and was generally cold and rude. After my hair wash she commented she was going to just get through my blow out and get through she did... my whole self care treat lasted 25 minutes from start to finish and I don't feel it was worth the 74$ to have a stylist be incredibly rude to me. I will not be returning and highly recommend you don't waste your money. read more

Hi I have been there twice. 2 different employees each time. 1st time I paid for deep conditioning and a 10 minute head massage. Didn't get either. Second time was okay but still not great. Would not recommend at all not worth the money. read more

I have been looking forward to this location coming to the south shore. I wish I had better things to say, but I am disappointed. I have been now 4 times, each time with a different stylist. I haven't had one "great" experience yet. In fact, all have been sub par. I routinely get in the car and think, why did I bother, I could do a better job myself. I know this location being new is likely going through growing pains, but the stylists really don't seem to have experience in blowouts and styling. I had booked an add on scalp massage this time and never even got it. I have long hair and just like a soft, beachy wave with some volume that can last for 3-5 days...nothing difficult. I have either gotten Shirley Temple curls or flat, kind of blah results. The experience and interaction has also been less than exciting, everyone is very flat over all. Given the cost of these blow outs, add ons and product, I expect a lot better. Other Dry Bars I have been to are significantly better sadly. Bummer! read more

My mom and I were expecting to leave and have our hair done for the day. I had to go home wash and dry my hair again to style. Our hair was not completely rinsed out of product. My hair was left straight on one side and terrible curls on the other side. My mom's hair was also horrible curls. It was not worth the 59$ and I will not be going back. read more

My experience started off bad when my head was not lifted at all to ensure product was removed during washing. I have never had a blow dry where the stylist didn't brush all the way through my hair after the wash, ends were brushed and the top was left matted and wet. I left with a blow dry that feels greasy than when I went in- I assume from product not being properly washed out. This was my first time, I thought it was supposed to be an experience- unfortunately was not. Not sure if it was the stylist I had, but I won't be back. Paid 59 for the blow dry and 15 for a hydrating mask = $74 and I will have to wash my hair tomorrow based on how greasy and unbrushable the roots are. Disappointing read more

Tried the Drybar in Hingham before going to attend a concert as a date night and it was the worst experience, I would not recommend this place. I arrived a little early for my appointment and they were late. All stylists were assisting clients when I walked in and nobody acknowledged me to check me in. Stylist I was with never even introduced themself. I explained I was looking for a simple blowout with some flat iron type curls nothing overly fancy and not a lot of body. I even shared what I liked on a client who was just finished. When turning around to see final look I was horrified. Top of my hair had just a huge poof in front, it looked absolutely ridiculous how it was parted. Another woman, a manager I presume attempted to fix my hair to satisfaction with no luck. I had to put a headband on when I left and fix my own hair. When checking out, the stylist was very rude and snarky when I asked about first time coupon. Despite being not happy with the service I did still hand her a cash tip that was still a generous amount for her time and she proceeded to roll her eyes at me. This place may be beautiful looking and clean but horrible customer service, stay away!!! read more

I understand that this location just opened, but management is doing both their customers and employees a disservice by putting brand new people on the floor on a Saturday. I went in yesterday to get a blowout before a wedding and you could tell the varying degrees of talent and experience just by watching. And I had plenty of time to watch - my appointment started 40 minutes late. The girl before me most likely missed her prom because our stylist took so long, and I was 45 minutes late to a wedding. In the time it took my stylist to just wash my hair, 4 people were in and out and back to their chair. It literally seemed like my stylist didn't know how to brush my hair - she was untangling my hair with her fingers. She was nice enough and I felt bad because she told me it was her first week - but paying customers expect a good blowout in 30-45 min. I was there for over two hours. They should let the rookies get experience during the week and not on weekends. read more
