The staff are amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, the views are spectacular, the service is top-notch, and the dining is delicious. I got a corner room on the top floor with two balconies and a window that overlooked further up the mountain. I had the delight on seeing some cows out there on my first morning. I utilized the pool everyday, got a massage at the spa on my second day, and ate at the restaurant onsite everyday for breakfast and dinner. I recommend all of it! It can get chilly out on the terrace, even in summer, so they have thick fur coats at your disposal for when you want to sit outside. There is a smoking/cigar room inside and ability to smoke outside on the terrace. The staff will also bring anything to you anywhere onsite if you just call and ask. They have elevated plastic ware available for poolside dining. Overall, highly recommend!!

The rooms were well appointed but I wish they had been a little more cozy and a little less corporate. At breakfast the first morning, my friend and I both ordered the overnight oats. When the dish came we both assumed it was an amuse bouche because the portion size was hilariously small. Like shot glass size. I still giggle when I think about it. It turns out that all the breakfast portions are small because you can order an unlimited amount of dishes and they don't like food waste. While I can certainly appreciate that, it would have been nice if our server had explained that when we placed our order. We were better prepared the next morning. The food overall in Switzerland was just not my favorite. It was good but under seasoned for my taste. My favorite dishes at dinner were probably the carrot coconut soup and the summer salad. The large pool at Villa Honegg is certainly the star of the show. It's heated and open until 11pm and we spent as much time there as we could. The one downside about this hotel is that it is a 20-30 minute drive into down for any activities or reservations at other hotels. It is worth it for the view but know that you need to make plans well in advance for offsite activities.

We had very thin ricotta ravioli with asparagus and green onion; a beef filet from a local farmer with a wonderful cauliflower purée and saffron risotto (which perhaps could have had a little more saffron taste), and an extraordinary passion fruit creme brûlée with sesame mango salad and Thai basil ice cream. The setting is a beautiful outdoor garden with leafy trees and lush bushes, accented by wild strawberry plants placed on each table. Quiet and romantic with occasional church bells in the background. Service was excellent and the chef, trained at the Zurich Savoy, clearly knows what he is doing. And, all at very reasonable prices. We will be back!

First time that a waiter has ever refused to bring more bread to the table. Refused to answer our simple question about portion size of a dish. Waved at us hysterically when I asked him for the check. Did not ask us even once during the dinner how things were going. Seemed like he wanted us to know we weren't welcome. The restaurant manager should retrain him on how to be polite to guests. Find a different job if you don't like serving others and taking orders.

We were initially waiting for the restaurant to have an open seat but we ended up staying at the bar. The bartender Julia was so sweet and welcoming. She gave us some recommendations and everything we ordered was on point. The drunken chicken, naughty chicken sandwich and truffle fries were so good. Excellent service and great food, so much so that we came back to the bar for more drinks and food event hough we aren't staying at this hotel.

Reservations and arriving: Made via message online or a call; we did so as part of our stay at the Hermitage. When checking in, the front desk was very gracious noticing that we had an upcoming reservation and called ahead letting the restaurant know that we are running a little bit late due to the check-in process. Rooms: We were personally shown to our rooms, and we really appreciated the walk-through. There are lounge areas including the bar area behind the front desk, and some quiet lounge chairs outside overlooking the lake, and inside with a pool table and additional seating. Clear warnings of possible mosquitos so we definitely appreciated the heads up before opening the windows in the evening! Stunning views of Lake Lucerne with generously sized rooms, and effort to be eco-friendly, and kind service. Food: Brunch was buffet style with plenty of seating and lots of variety. Loved the natural or firmer honey choices, bread choices, fruit, chia pudding, yogurt, boiled eggs, sausages, drinks, etc available all with lakeside covered seating options. Took one star off for a dinner experience with the associated restaurant Hermitage. Amenities: Spa area includes changing rooms and sauna rooms, no hot bath area or pool so this is for relaxation and also some private rooms are available. Water sports can be arranged with the front desk. Great stay that was quiet and polite and easily accessible in Lucerne!

We wandered some side streets and found this charming cafe setting up their tables, the menu looked appropriate so we decided to take a chance. It was well over 90 and the staff gently told I'd they would be no pizza tonight which was fine with us. We were thinking of salads and some light pasta, and they certainly had a wide selection. They graciously answered all of our preparation questions and made suggestions for us that ended up being perfect. All of the salads were fresh and ample and dressed perfectly, the Parmesan on the Rucola generous. My husband and I both enjoyed the linguine con vongole which was covered with baby clams in the shell, not a speck of sand in any, sweet and not overcooked. The linguine was al dente with a light sauce of white wine and olive oil, pepper being the predominant seasoning. The spaghetti Puttanesca was enjoyed by the others. I would love to go back, try some other options and certainly a dessert, but that will need to be with more time and better weather. Who knew it could be so hot in Switzerland in June?
