It's the park & beach on Lake Lucerne in Alpenquai. On a beautiful & sunny day, this place is packed with local residents sunbathing and swimming. There's a sandy strip of beach that even has a permanent ping pong table. We also saw people fishing as well as swans and ducks foraging for food.
The park actually has a couple of large open & grassy areas where adults and children can play something sporty. There's even a Boule court. There's a kiosk with snacks, and I believe that boats can be rented at the harbor. It's beautifully landscaped with a bridge crossing over at a different part of the lake. It was a pedestrian bridge called Kantisteg that we saw as we were on the trail. I can see it being a great place to see the sunset or sunrise at the beginning or end of the day. It's a great place to walk & jog.
It wasn't busy on the day we were there. I think the weather had a lot to do with that. It was still nice enough to get views of the lake, mountain range, and birds. It turned out to be a very relaxing walk before dinner & packing for our trip back home. I'm not sure I'd make a special trip to see it. It was worth it for us since we were staying at a hotel right around the corner. It's also close to the train station and ferry landings. Make the jaunt only if you have the time. read more
