The Golden Circle Tour. The boat ride was so relaxing. Nice to enjoy the breeze and beautiful lake and mountain views. Switzerland is so dreamy. I wish that there had been more of an explanation of what we saw along the ride. Maybe there is a boat tour, but we did not see that as an option. Yet, this was still a fun trip to get to Mount Pilatus.

Track, time, rail line etc. I found the station very clean and very friendly with a police presence that was willing to help if you had questions. The tourist information booth was in plain sight and provided lots of pamphlets, maps and recommendations for just about anything you need. I was amazed at how many trains were going to so many places around Europe. Again my first experience in a train station so I was a little bit in aww. lol With a nice selection of food court and retail shops you could use to kill some time if you were early for your connection. And a short walk to many traditional Swiss restaurants right on the Reuss river where it meets Lake Luzern. But be warned. Trains arrive and depart on time! So don't get distracted with the shops. Lol All in all a very quick but nice experience. I would definitely be ok with traveling by train again.

We took Grindelwald/Interlaken Express from here. Then train to Geneva and Bern. There are plenty of options to shop and a huge variety of restaurants available in the lower level. The bus and cruise terminal are all within walking distance. Very clearly marked signs available and easy to navigate.

It's one of the most beautiful scenic boat rides we did. Europass eurial had discounts to this route. We did first class with more spacious decks than second. Overall, it doesn't matter. Must recommend this to spend 1 hour of ride when you are in luzern. The small neighborhoods in each stop are so beautiful to watch.

Your SBB Half Fare card as well as any Swiss Passes are also valid here. Even on a cloudy December day, the views were great, seeing the winter wonderland views of the surrounding mountains. If you're headed to Rigi, definitely take this to Vitznau as you can connect to the train that departs shortly after the boat arrives (you can even purchase point to point tickets from SBB that includes the train as well.)

The Pilatus Railway is a mountain railway in Switzerland. Leading to Mt. Pilatus it is the steepest rack railway in the world, with a maximum gradient of 48% and an average gradient of 35%. We took a boat from Lucerne on Lake Alpnach to reach the train station. The rack railway climbs to a station near the Esel summit of Pilatus at an elevation of 6,801 feet. The view from the summit is breathtaking. For a day trip, we took the boat from Lucerne to the railway station to the summit. We came back down by gondola and then caught a bus back to Lucerne. I would highly recommend this as a daytrip. We bought our passes and booked the times at our hotel in Lucerne.

It's more than just a glass factory. It was much more enjoyable and interesting than I originally…read morethought it would be. The main attraction is watching the glass being blown. There's no fee to watch them making the glass in the factory. I believe some of the interactive displays such as the musical glass is something you can do as well. I think it's the museum, make your own glass section, and the mirrored maze that costs extra. We were on a tour that included the museum. It was all cool to see the historical flasks and decanters on display. All made at this factory since 1817. It's a traditional art that has been passed down for many generations. There are 2 shops. One is their storefront where I saw a glass fondue stand and lots of autumn décor. The other shop is an outlet with seconds from the factory. There were many good deals there. The café is also a very popular spot. The terrace has beautiful views of Lake Lucerne, as well as an interactive water fountain that you can turn on manually. The last part of our private tour took us to the playground. There is a very unique marble run that plays musical sounds as the marble hits each piece of glass on the way down. I believe the glass marbles can be purchased for a small fee. I say this because our guide (not affiliated with Glasi) gave them to us as souvenirs. I just wish it wasn't raining at the time. I would have loved to dine on the terrace for lunch as I've read so many good things about the food there. It was still a good visit. They really do make glass blowing look so fun. The kids really get into doing it themselves. It's worth a stop as you make your way to Bern from Lucerne.

07.09.25 Switzerland was leg number 6/7…read more Zurich was hub but made sure to do a tour to see the Swiss Alps. Titlis was an hour from Lucern and the scenery driving to the tram was very idyllic. Taking the tram to the top took a good 20-25 minutes. We beelined for the ice cave which was exciting for the kids, one plays hockey and my girl figure skates so no biggie for them. I on the other hand was super careful not to slip walking on ice. I already broke my coccyx snow boarding once. I wasn't going to do it again at 10k ft elevation. Make sure to wear hiking shoes with good traction. It was very gloomy and cold that day, felt like winter because of the summer storm. We all braved going outside to do the cliff walk but the visibility was no more than 5ft, only my daughter and hubby got to the end of the suspension bridge. It felt like Mt Everest and we only had our last minute parkas and hoodies purchase on so my fingers were frozen popsicles. Our tickets also included the ice flyer but because we were going to be exposed to the frigid temp, we decided to ditch it and cozied up inside the restaurant for some hot cocoa. On our way down we got off Trübsee, explored the lake and got a little too close to the grazing cows, they do stink. Despite the crappy weather, it was an exciting adventure for the family.

Someone I was there with mentioned that they should have named it something other than Titlis…read more Guess what, the world doesn't revolve around English! Just ask the guy named Poon. Fun fact, they have wood plaques of HK singer/actress Gigi Leung plastered up in the hallways like she's Employee of the Month. At least, that's what I thought it was till I looked closer. Apparently it's a source of pride for the Swiss. Kidding. But seriously. What the hell? After moving on from Gigi's Mona Lisa plaques, we rode the gondola, which provides a 360º panoramic look at the powdery mountains and checked out the glacier cave at the top. I only wish I got to snowboard here.

Luce Restaurant & Bar is inside the Radisson Blu Hotel near Lake Lucerne. We had the buffet…read morebreakfast there daily during our stay. It's conveniently open at 6:30 am. That's actually the best time to arrive because it does get full. There are groups of people staying there for excursions through Viking and other river cruise lines. Just something to be aware of when staying at the hotel. The breakfast was good. The buffet isn't as expansive as the ones at the Marriott, but what they had was pretty good (but basic). There were scrambled eggs and fried eggs. I eventually learned that the fried eggs that were turned over were cooked all the way through. That's how I like it. Otherwise, it was an over easy egg. They have rice and curry as well. I'm not sure if they are catering this to Asians or Vegetarians. Either way, it's nice to have that option. The bread & cheese were surprisingly good. I especially enjoyed the fresh croissants. There were a few pastries as well. We were happy with the coffee machines. The milk is extra creamy & foamy. There are different sized cups. I usually went with the biggest one and selected the espresso macchiato 3 times to fill it up. It was perfect. There is also a tea station with loose leaf teas, hot water, and little teapots. A very nice touch for those who don't drink coffee. The service was great. The plates were cleared away when needed. The restaurant was clean. There were glass bottles of water available to take to your table. It was a good start to the day.

Still trying to catch up on reviews from this trip…read more.. Luce is the restaurant in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Luzern. The name is actually Luce Restaurant and Bar and it's definitely more of a restaurant than a bar. There is a very nice bar in the hotel lobby but this restaurant is separate from it. So anyway, our meal was excellent. There was a very unique mix of flavors in all the dishes were tried. There were seasonal items for winter with the savory spiced flavors to match. We stared out with some soups, a Pumpkin cream with vanilla foam and a Creamy chestnut with roasted mountain fig and truffle. I was a little skeptical of the Pumpkin soup thinking it would be like eating a dessert but it was savory with just a slight hit of sweet from the vanilla. The Chestnut soup was my favorite of the two. It had a very nice, creamy texture with mellow nuttiness from the chestnuts and bold earthiness from the black truffle. The figs made for a nice sweet hit to this soup as well. Some of the other starters that were ordered were a House salad with roasted chicken, and a Caprese flatbread. The flatbread I thought was excellent. The crust was cracker thin crust and had just enough toppings to not overpower it. It was also quite large and and would be great for sharing. For dinners, we ordered a Ribeye steak, a Fish dish (but I forget what kind of fish it was) and I had the Duo of venison and rabbit. I tried all of them but my favorite was the Duo. Both meats were quite gamey but that was perfect for me. Each was paired with a bold sauce which balanced the flavors out very nicely. Since it was gamey, the others didn't really care for it so more for me anyway. :) For dessert we all had house-made ice cream. They have a fairly large assortment and all the ones we ordered were very rich and creamy. The only downside was that it's pretty pricey but, Switzerland is pretty pricey all around so it was expected. Also want to add, in the mornings this restaurant serves a great buffet breakfast.
