I can't remember what prompted me to call Dr. Goodwins office in Jewett City. I mean Jewett City REALLY? Besides it was a 15 minute ride up 395. But I did. Now here I am 5+ years later thrilled that I made the effort. Here's what I like; genuine, authentic, caring, knowledgeable staff led by a truly nice guy who knows dentistry inside and out and really cares about his patients. Here's what I don't like; they're so close to Arremonys Bakery that I stop by and grab some awesome blueberry danishes on every trip. OK seriously... Forget about the clean, organized, well maintained office. The level of caring that comes across and the extra effort Dr. Goodwin puts in makes all the difference. Let's face it there's lots of other dentists and even a few of those "mall dentists" to choose from... But if you're looking to go back in time to a place where your dentist really cared about you and your family and was someone you can trust, this is the place. Nice part... it's like Disney, "old fashioned values" and hidden behind it all is some seriously cool technology. My favorite is having the procedure explained to me and at the same time getting to see what he's talking about inside my own mouth right on a monitor above my head. So if you're new in town or looking to make a switch, I really recommend you at least give these guys a look... Excellent dentist, tremendous people. And if you look at any of my other reviews here on Yelp... I'm not shy about sharing my experiences good or bad ;-o so go check um' out... you'll be glad you did.

I also had a deal I couldn't turn down with Groupon ($75 for the procedure) which made it even more awesome. The whole procedure was quick and painless. I had used the standard bleaching gel with a clear retainer (which didn't taste the greatest but it's only on your teeth temporarily) and vitamin e oil to hydrate my mouth while smiling at a blue light for 19 minutes straight. I was so surprised when the specialist told me my teeth went up 5 shades and would go up an additional shade overnight! Two weeks later, they are still looking marvelous. He discussed with me not to take the roots out of the wisdom tooth, just to cut the top portion of the tooth off so there would be no nerve damage. I had also told him I wanted a dental implant where another tooth was being pulled. When I woke from surgery he told me everything was all set and if I had any problems to call the office. A few days later, I was in a lot of pain and figured it was a dry socket, not to mention there were bony pieces sticking out everywhere! Dr Duhaime had gone out of town and I had to see his stand in. They packed my dry sockets and told me to go back to Dr. Duhaime. When I went back to see Dr.Duhaime he also repacked my dry sockets but said it would get better. I had to go back to him daily for over a few weeks to check my dry sockets and he also removed more of the bony pieces that were coming out. I was still in a lot of pain after 6 weeks and went to my general dentist. He took x rays and found Dr. Duhaime had left me with 2 sets of roots in 2 different areas, including where I wanted my implant! The wisdom tooth roots he left were exposed and causing me unbelievable pain. There was also damage done to the root of the tooth in front of the extraction sight. Again, his response was it needs time to heal. 4 months later, I'm in Michigan and thankfully found an oral surgeon that was able to go back in and fix the mess Dr. Duhaime left. He told me leaving the roots behind usually isn't recommended because they have a high failure rate.
