This place is the true definition of hole in the wall dive bar, in the best way possible. Depot Tavern is in the middle of nowhere Indiana but it was hopping on Friday night. There was a live band (the reason we sought out this place) and they charge a $5/pp cover charge. Their menu is basic bar food - mozzarella sticks, burgers, poppers, fries, etc. (no wings). The burgers looked REALLY good and everyone was ordering them but we weren't hungry enough to get one. We arrived around 7:15PM and stayed until last call. We each had 4-5 beers in that time (since we had to drive out of there on back country roads) and we split an order of mozzarella sticks and our total bill was only $30! Amazing! Note: they do allow smoking, almost everyone in there was smoking, and the ventilation system didn't do much to help the air flow. At one point my eyes were burning pretty bad - but it's a dive bar and I was not expecting it to be non-smoking. It's a cool little joint and I'm glad we went! read more
