The whole project is $2200, after the first day, when he did 1/3 of the job he asked me to pay him $1600 because he had cash flow problem. I gave him $1000 so that he could come back to finish the rest. The second visit, he still did not finish the whole job but he was begging us again for more cash and my husband and I made the mistake of being too kind: we paid him up to $1600. He never came back to finish grinding the rest of stumps. He probably felt the rest of $600 wasn't enough to cover his another trip to finish the stump grinding. At the beginning he was taking our calls, saying November was too busy for him, and pushed his return to December, and then January. Then he never answers or returns out call anymore. I should have known better, if he was really four generations of business and really busy with all sorts of project, why would he have any cash flow problem of $1000? I don't really want to put in a lot of my time into this matter because the mistake was on our side too: we were too naive and fell for his crying for cash because his workers were sick and all kinds of other personal reasons. Stupid on our side, but hopefully you don't make the same mistake. We would also appreciate tips to resolve this issue.

We had Gerald out to take care of some dead trees, some overhanging branches, skirt a large oak…read moretree with several dead limbs, and remove one of my neighbor's large oak limbs that was hanging over our yard and house. Gerald arrived promptly. He went to work right away. He dropped all the limbs without striking anything on the ground including our fence or our shed. He was able to drop the limb from my neighbor's tree by climbing around in the trees and did not need to bring in a lift or other appliance. Afterward, cleanup was thorough. He even cleaned up some of the leaves in the backyard that he didn't drop. He also took down an extra limb that was hanging over our RV that was not in the original estimate with no extra charge. He hauled away all the small limbs/leaves. He cut all the larger branches into small fireplace size pieces. I would highly recommend him. Reasonable prices as well. And, he's a nice guy.

I watched them all day as they carefully removed quite a bit of large timber. After connecting with the crew to say goodbye, I watched them drive away and went back to the house.
