Five stars for Derrick's Appliance Repair!…read more When our dishwasher broke down, I was dreading the hassle and the cost. I called Derrick's Appliance in Capitola for a repair and was relieved right away. They picked up, listened, and got me on the schedule [same day / within a day or two]. Chris showed up on time, was friendly and professional as always, and took the time to explain what was wrong in plain language instead of upselling me. He diagnosed the problem quickly, had the right part on hand, and had everything running again in no time. The price was fair and exactly what he quoted. It's rare to find a local repair service that's this honest, skilled, and easy to work with. If you're in Capitola, Soquel, Aptos, or anywhere in the Santa Cruz County/Monterey Bay area, don't waste time on a big-box service call. Call Derrick's. I'm just trying to be a good neighbor by sharing something that might help someone else, so please consider the spirit in which I'm posting this. Anyone who has experienced a problem with a clothes dryer because of years of accumulated lint will probably understand why I have my dryer vent cleaned every two years. When I was younger, climbing onto the roof to run a rotating brush through the vent pipe connecting the dryer to the outside wouldn't have been a problem. Moving the dryer away from the wall to access the exhaust vent wouldn't have stopped me either. Age is now a factor, and I've learned that sometimes preventive maintenance also means knowing when to let someone else do the climbing and heavy lifting. Safehouse Dryer Vent Cleaning has done an exceptional job for me. They've been prompt, efficient, and courteous. I'm sharing their name simply because I've had a good experience with them and because this is one of those maintenance tasks that can be easy to overlook--until it isn't.

Even during COVID shipment shenanigan season - they seem to have a magical relationship with reliable suppliers that got parts quickly which isn't as critical to me but it is for guests in our vacation rental!
