Remarkable this place is 5 star the dentist fixed my teeth. Everyone there was very kind and professional I recommend this place to anyone.

To start, I am a physician. I went to Dentistar for an annual checkup which includes xray, examination, and cleaning. Dr. Cho did not even acknowledge my presence or introduce himself. Even when sharing my Xray results, he only talked to the assistant and never directly told me the assessment and plan. He overdiagnosed me and insisted that I get procedures for all cavities, which turned out to be a scam as I got a second opinion from another dentist. He totally skipped the cleaning part of the checkup but billed my insurance for it. When asked to share the Xray with the other dentist office, Dentistar requested a 50 dollar release of information fee. Please save your time, take extra 5 minutes of your time to go to another office. This man should not be a medical provider. It is providers like Dr. Cho that make American healthcare a joke. read more

If I could give this establishment zero stars I would. I had a very frustrating and unprofessional experience at this office with Dr. Cho. I went in for a filling in late August, but shortly afterward, I developed severe gum pain. When I returned, I was told that my tooth was cracked and no longer savable. I was only given two options: complete removal with an implant or a deep cleaning to see if it would resolve itself. When I asked for an after-visit summary or any documentation regarding my diagnosis, Dr. Cho made me feel uncomfortable by questioning why I needed it. This made the whole experience even more unpleasant. I eventually had to go to the front desk to request my medical records, and only then did Dr. Cho refer me to a periodontist, who, unfortunately, doesn't even take my insurance. Now I'm stuck in severe pain, unable to eat properly, and no closer to resolving my issue. Luckily I found another provider who is willing to do a second opinion for me. I'm beyond disappointed with the lack of customer service and professionalism here. I would not recommend this office to anyone based on my experience. read more

I started going to Dentistar in 2018 and it was the BEST decision I've made for my dental health. Prior to that, I had been going to my childhood dentist for about 20 years. It was clear right away what I was missing at my old dentist. Dentistar has all brand new equipment in squeaky clean rooms. Dr. Cho and his assistant, Connie, are so kind and welcoming each time I visit. I actually feel like I'm going to have a visit with friends! He is straight forward and honest while examining your teeth. I came to him with a whooping 13 cavities (my old dentist never even mentioned them) and while I was embarrassed, he made me feel better about it and we quickly came up with a plan that spaced out the fillings, addressing the most critical first. I appreciated that they considered my comfort and finances while making the plan. Since then, I've been going for cleanings every 6 months and my teeth have never felt healthier! I even got my teeth whitened with their laser technology leading up to my engagement photo shoot and it was so easy and really made my smile glow. :) The dentist used to be a scary thing for me, but thanks to the team at Dentistar, I look forward to it! read more

I have been going to Dentistar for nearly a decade and have had excellent care and treatment. Dr. Cho and his associate, Connie have been warm and welcoming every time I come for a 6 month check-up and other appointments. They are highly professional, informative and very enjoyable to be around. I have been provided with cleanings, fillings and caps, as well as, support on the care of my teeth. My husband recently had a tooth removed and an implant put in. It was a very involved procedure that required several follow-up visits. Dr. Cho worked closely with a specialist on Lincoln St. in Boston for part of the procedure. We are both very pleased with the results. Man... What the heck. I went here because the reviews were so high, but it seems people are having ABSOLUTELY different experiences here. I just visited their office and the dentist and dental hygienists gave me NO information about what was going on. The doctor didn't introduce himself, didn't tell me what was going on, and didn't ask me if I had any questions. He just walked in and started working on my teeth without saying anything. I don't even know his name lol bc no one, including him, told me. He only really talked to the dental hygienist, and I had to remember the words they were using to google it later and figure out what they were saying. They took x-rays and didn't tell me anything about what they saw. At one point I tried to make conversation with the doctor and he didn't even respond or react to me. My total visit lasted maybe 10 minutes, and it ended with them asking me to call them in two weeks to REMIND them to call the insurance people to check my costs. Why am I being asked to call and remind them to do their job?! They didn't even schedule me for another visit. They told me I had two cavities, and I had to ask them about where the cavities are and how deep they were. When I asked, they just told me "They're bad, trust me. You're gonna want them filled." I never told them I was thinking about not filling them--I just wanted more information. Overall, I just felt like they were rushed and just trying to get me out of there, but I only saw one other patient in the office when I was there. I haven't been to a dentist in a very long time bc of insurance and other roadblocks, but I do not recall the experience being this bad. I don't think I'll be going back here. Patients shouldn't have to ask you what's going on to know the bare minimum information. read more

Alright I'll be honest. I haven't exactly been the poster child of going to the dentist regularly for check-ups since losing coverage back in 2013. So was I surprised when I was told I had a couple cavities? Nope. A little ashamed? Of course. But Dr. Cho and Dentistar made the entire process super easy. From the cleaning to the fillings, everything went smoothly with no issues (and no pain!). If anything, they were more than accommodating. At every step, Dr. Cho and his assistant, Yomary, would explain what they were doing and always asked if I was comfortable. This clinic is definitely more modern than my previous dentist, so some techniques and instruments used were different from what I was used to, but I could tell I was in good hands. They were thorough and gentle, exactly what you would want from someone working with your teeth. Additionally, Dr. Cho always made sure to ask if I had any questions so that I would leave with zero doubts and concerns. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to my next check-up! read more

Dr. Cho and his staff are excellent, and my three visits have all been pleasant, comfortable experiences. The procedures (a tooth extraction and several fillings) were all efficient and painless. The office is very clean and orderly. Even during this Covid pandemic, I felt thoroughly safe and assured by their high level of safety protocols (masks and gloves for both patients and staff, frequently cleaned surfaces, and other additional safety measures). Scheduling, billing, and insurance have all been very smooth, stress-free processes. I would recommend them to anyone and will continue to use them for my dental care. read more

I went to Dentistar to do a filling on 2 of my teeth last week. The assistant brought me to a room which was well lighted with new equipment. Just as I was about to get seated, the doctor comes along and quickly whisks me away to a mediocre room with older equipment. The assistant comes in to set me up. Then the same doctor comes in and immediately yanks the dental chair down and tells me to open my mouth so he can start working. I was shocked. The doctor didn't introduce him, didn't tell me what he was going to do to me nor did he ask me if I had any questions. As he was working on my teeth, I had to interrupt him to ask, "You are doing a white filling, right?" Because I was totally against mercury filling due to the numerous reports on the dangers of it. The doctor gave me a one-word answer which I didn't understand. So, I asked him again, "You are doing the white filling, right?" Again, he replied with a one-word answer which I didn't understand. Because I was in a lying position on the dental chair and the doctor was working on my mouth, I couldn't say much. I thought since most dentistries these days have moved away from mercury fillings, he must be doing the white filling. While the doctor was working on my teeth, he began speaking to his assistant about another patient's teeth condition. At first, I wasn't sure if he was talking about my teeth, so I asked him, "Are you talking about me?" He replied, "No." Then he continued to talk to his assistant about the other patient's teeth for the next few minutes. This was about a Chinese patient he saw earlier who lives in Guatemala and he was mentioning that she had bad teeth. I was not happy hearing him talk about another patient in my presence, and not talking to me at all about my teeth. In fact, I think that its against the law for a doctor to be disclosing info on another patient. When the filling was done, I got up to leave. On the way back, I asked my wife to make sure the doctor had put in white filling. My wife called the dentistry to find out. The secretary checked her notes and said the doctor had put in mercury fillings!! I was so upset to hear that. The doctor had put in what I wanted to avoid the most. It was a huge disappointment. If only Dr Cho took a few minutes to speak to me and explain what he was planning to do and allow me to ask a few questions before he started to work on me, this problem could be averted. That same day, I wrote to Dr Cho on his website that I was upset that he put in mercury fillings instead of white filling, without my permission or consent. I had asked him what options are available to me now, and if there is a possibility for him to remove the mercury filling and put in white filling. Dr Cho didn't even bother to reply to me. He didn't have the concern that I was frustrated with what he put in my mouth. He didn't even call me to discuss what he can do to relieve me of the problem. I waited for more than a week for him to get back to me. But he didn't call me. He just didn't care. Now I have to find another dentist who can remove the mercury filling and put in white fillings in my teeth, and I have to pay extra for that. Waste of time and money with this dentistry. My dental experience with Dr Cho of Dentistar was terrible. He was terrible in his conduct, and he is also a cold-hearted person who just don't care about me as his patient. read more

Sleek, modern, hip, Dr. Cho and his staff are as good as it gets! Been with Dr. Cho since they first opened and things couldn't of been better. Very polite and well informed staff with Dr. Cho servicing me numerous times for cleanings and fillings, staff is also very nice and accommodating as well, there's free coffee and nepressos in the waiting room as well as a play area for little kids. Dr. Cho has always greeted me with a smile and his assistant always made sure I was comfortable before performing anything in addition letting me know what was to be done. Once I was in for a routine cleaning but decided to stay longer to have some extra work done and the receptionist even added more quarters to my meter! Just got home from what was supposed to be a 2m appt at Dentistar amd am so upset my hands are still shaking. Never even got in to see Dr. One of the most incompetent and frustrating reception interactions I have ever had (and I am 56 yrs old). Between jobs and have Masshealth insurance which my regular dentist doesn't take. Broke a tooth a few weeks ago. found a dentist around the corner who said tooth couldn't be saved and referred me to oral surgeon who said not sure if tooth needed to be pulled. This Dr Chen Lincoln St Boston highly recommended Dentistar so was very optimistic re quality of dentist. Got there today and "Carla" only reception person. Give her my ins card and she told me my ins not valid. I told her I had used it Saturday - she said nothing she could do or check. I called Masshealth and they told me I was covered but weren't allowed to speak to Carla. Hung up and asked Carla if there was ANY way she could check "Are you sure there isn't a # you can call to resolve problems?" Carla says no decisively. I then call my sub-provider NHP to see if a glitch. They say it has nothing to do with them but why isn't the receptionist calling the "provider support number" they have? I ask Carla ( who is abt 10 ft away in a small area) Don't you have a provider support #? She doesn't respond which I communicate to phone worker. She asks if there is an office manager I can talk to which I ask Carla. She says there is no manager or supervisor - only her. NHP worker then gives me support # for Dentaquest - the Masshealth dental plan. I call Dentaquest and wait for at least 20 mins on hold (during which time they tell me every 15 secs that I have less than 1 min wait!). When I finally get a worker they tell me I am covered. I explain what's happening and she also asks why the provider didn't call the support number. I said she didn't know about it or something and she says "we have providers calling us all day every day!" I asked if she would speak with Carla and she said yes so brought phone up to desk and asked Carla who says "oh - that's who I'm on the phone with right now." She had apparently "found" a contact # and called it without saying a word to me while I was on the phone with all these folks right in front of her - again less than 10 ft away. As Carla was still on hold on the other line she (or the worker I'm not sure) suggested I put my phone on speaker and the worker and Carla began speaking. In the middle of giving provider info Carla suddenly stopped talking and answered the phone without a nod, a "one minute!" or an excuse me. I didn't understand until a minute later that she had the SAME agency we were speaking to still on the phone but she basically stopped speaking to us and stsrted speaking into the phone leaving me to speak into the speakerphone - which was still on Carla's desk saying I didn't know what had happened and take the phone back, apologize to the worker and hang up. I stood at the desk for several minutes looking at Carla who presently put the phone down and told me "that was the same agency - they've put me on hold!" I then asked Carla if she seriously just blew off a woman on the line who was talking with her to be put on hold by the same agency. She said that she was calling the "provider number" which didn't seem to matter to the customer service rep and seemed a made up pointless delay by Carla - who came across as perfectly intelligent (but totally not giving a crap). I then told her that was ridiculous and asked her why she had told me there was no phone # she could call. She admitted this but told me she decided that she wasn't staying on hold and she the thought I should find another dentist. I asked her (silly I know) to initial a note saying that she had told me that she didn't know about any "provider support" numbers she could call and that there were no supervisors ir managers she could call with questions. She refused to sign. I never raised my voice, swore or bitched - I really really wanted this dentist to work out!! However there comes a point when u have to wonder if the person who is the face of the business is under-trained, under-supervised and/or low-level customer service skills or willingness to turn appointments into dollars - does reflect on the business owner - especially in so sensitive, detail-oriented a profession. The referring dentist is very nice and I want to emphasize that I can't review the quality of the dental work. I never got the chance. It may in fact be excellent I did however leave the office in tears and it took my hands an hour to stop shaking. I have a broken tooth and it's back to the drawing board. Maybe its Masshealth they don't want in which case they should stop taking patients. Devastated - still with broken tooth. Bad enough to have to put $3 or $4K into my mouth right before Christmas : ) read more

I've come here several time for fillings and a cleaning. The staff are more than professional and extremely helpful. The doctor and his assistants have amazing bedside manner. I have a fear of needles and the process of fillings, but this establishment made sure I was comfortable and at ease, the entire process was extremely painless. I have had a very bad experince in this dental office. During a last routine cleaning the dentist told me that two older fillings needed to be replaced. After xrays, they put me on one visit plan to have the fillings done. The day of my appointment only one tooth was fixed, I wanted to wait for the other one since I was experiencing some pain and sensitivity . When the numbness wore off, I was in a lot of pain. I went back several days later for this and a routine cleaning. I explained this to the medical assistant. She made some suggestions but the dentist totally ignored , never came to the office to check on me or spend several minutes to properly explain what is wrong or how to proceed while I am in a lot of pain. I saw him at the front desk and I explained him how I was feeling, he suggested me to wait couple of weeks for the pain and sensitivity to go away or I might need a root canal. I called back the office, asked the doctor or the office manager to contact me but still did not hear back. It is really unfortunate and I have NEVER had a dentist show: blatant negligence of my condition and show ignorance . Very unprofessional. read more

As a new patient, I received a cleaning. Flat screens in each room to review X-rays. Didn't feel rushed. Took sufficient time to answer all my questions. Smooth visit. I used to just visit my dentist back home in CA on school breaks, but had to get a dentist here since I've officially moved out here for the foreseeable future. I visited Dentistar for the first time last week, and I am happy to say that I am going to keep them as my dentist here in Boston! I had an appointment at 6pm -- it's awesome that was even an option -- during the week. I walked in to a brightly lit, tasteful office and met a cheerful woman, Stephanie. She got me all set with paperwork while we exchanged some conversation about the stormy weather. I waited about 5 minutes before being seen by the assistant hygienist (I believe that was her position), Yomary, who was also a very pleasant lady. She did her best to make me comfortable as a she took x-rays with an awkward sensor gizmo. The dentist, Dr. Cho came in a few minutes after the x-rays and quickly started my cleaning after reviewing my x-rays. He worked quickly and efficiently; he did not make much small talk, which I appreciated because I never understood why people would make conversation when I have sharp tools in my mouth. Even without the conversation, he was not standoffish at all. After my cleaning, he made sure I didn't leave with any unanswered questions. I left with some goodies -- a toothbrush, travel toothpaste, and some mini flosses. All in all, a pretty standard dentist appointment. Considering the dentist horror stories like overselling of unnecessary procedures and overly zealous cleanings, Dentistar deserves an A+ for their good service and diligence! Update 3/14/17: I recommended Dentistar to one of my coworkers who previously had bad experiences with dentists trying to sell unnecessary procedures or just inaccurate information. She was told by her past dentist that she had 5 cavities, even though the visit before she was told she had none; also, there was no reason why 5 would spring up. She went to this Dentistar to see Dr. Cho, and she was told she had only one cavity, which she got filled easily. She appreciated the honesty and the professionalism of this office; she only had good things to say. read more
