The dentists do their job, and I've had fillings and crowns placed here without any issues. I've never been overcharged, and they normally have availability. Now, what could improve? The place is a bit outdated. The patient seats are missing some cushioning, so after a while, your buttocks starts to hurt. During one of my cleanings, water started pouring out of one of the brushes and I ended up getting wet. So, if you're looking for luxury, this probably isn't your place. The front desk staff can be blunt and doesn't always seem very welcoming, but the hygienists are always very kind.

He has the most gentle touch, even as he's scraping tartar below your gum line. I've seen him twice for the standard x-rays and cleanings, and both times I almost fell asleep in the dentist chair. I've had pedicures that were more painful than my dental visits with Dr. Kristallis. He has a calm, friendly demeanor that sets you at ease during your visit. I also have to give a shout-out to his office manager, who helped me figure out my dental insurance and is a delight to interact with. Finally, the office also uses modern technology which allows you to confirm appointments online and sends reminders via text. Thank you Dr. Kristallis for making dentist visits pleasant rather something I dread.

Truly am so thankful I found Dr. Kristallis. After a terrible experience with another downtown DC…read moredentist (who wanted to do quite a few dental procedures that seemed fishy), I went to Dr. Kristallis for a second opinion. Ann, his secretary, is fantastic. She knows her stuff and is ultra friendly. She handled all of the insurance and billing and I had no problem with this. Dr. Kristallis's office was very clean and welcoming. I really liked the hygenist and she was quite gentle, which I appreciated. Dr. Kristallis himself is great! I find that most dentists are quite rushed, but he stopped and talked and I did not feel that he was in a rush to go see the next patient. Furthermore, I was cavity and problem free- the opposite of what I had heard from the previous dentist. I appreciated that he did not try to do non-necessary services to earn an extra buck. Dr. Kristallis & staff are just fabulous. I have recommended them to multiple friends. I have yet to leave a dentist actually smiling and happy.... But I did with Dr. Kristallis. I'll be looking forward to my next cleaning!

I cancelled well within this period because they couldn't figure out a previous billing issue and I had lost faith in their ability to bill accurately. Not only did they not refund the first 50% deposit, but they charged the second half as well! It took me over 3 months and dozens of "Membership Specialists" to get the first half refunded, and they are now refusing to refund the first half. I don't know if they are unethical or incompetent but I cannot speak poorly enough of their customer service and billing department. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I should add that the reason I had the first billing dispute with them is that they recommended I have a deep cleaning, and then upcharged after it was done saying "our estimates are only estimates". Somehow every dentist's office I have been to in my entire life has been able to exactly match their estimate so it does appear they are just attempting to get extra money out of customers - or like I said earlier, totally incompetent at billing.

I started coming to this office after having regular 6 month cleanings with absolutely no problems, but my old dentist stopped taking my insurance. At Tend, with each appointment, I was being told I had a new issue -- I "needed" a mouth guard, appointments every 4 months instead of 6 for my "gum disease," and required an invasive deep clean scaling appointment for my gums. This was a shock to me because I had never had any inkling of a problem with my previous provider. After 3 exam appointments and 2 treatments, my last straw was when they told me I had six new cavities. SIX?? I had been coming to multiple appointments within the year there is no way I just generated six new cavities after never having one in my life. I stopped working with Tend and ended up joining a new office after a year without a cleaning after these "six cavities" ... what do you know, the new office said my teeth were perfectly fine and didn't require anything special. This company is a corporate scheme that has an extremely low threshold for what they will treat for -- up-charging you for unnecessary treatments and extra visits for no reason, seemingly to pay for their fancy, modern gadgets. Highly do not recommend.
