Well the lady working on him was not happy with him as many times as she kept repeating open your mouth. She did have his check stretched a little far as he kept grabbing at her hand. Again she kept saying if you don't keep your mouth open I will get a bite pillow and your not going to like that. That made me upset. Not want to scare my child while this lady is working on him I told her that my child will not be given a bite pillow regardless of his behavior. Well she was obviously upset and my son again started to close his mouth but this time she took her thumbs and forced his lower jaw open. I told her to please be more careful with my son. She said "mom this is all normal procedures When a patient is not cooperating" I was not happy at all on how my son was treated!! When he was finished he was crying and now says he doesn't like the dentist. I will not be bringing my child back to them due to how they treated him. Not all kids are going to be as willing. As someone working with kids (as they are scared) you should be trained on how to work with them. I would think twice before taking my child to this place again.

I look forward to coming here and feel the experience is going to remove the stigma of dentists for the next generation. Kudos to the office!

Not Dr. Kilgore..she checks EVERYTHING to make sure all is currently well with my children and also goes over preventative care that should be done. We saw her today and I've never been so pleased to see what an amazing job she does. She is someone who genuinely cares about her patients. I've never seen her without a smile on her face nor have I ever met a Dr that will take as much time needed to explain things to the children, as well as their parents. She remembers us every time we step foot into the office and makes us feel so comfortable. My son ADORES her. He loves seeing his favorite Dr, as he would say. She sits down, chats with him about school or what's new in his life. I couldn't be more grateful to have her as a dentist for my son. She always asks how I'm doing and always offers a helping hand. It means so much to myself and my son. There need to be more doctors and people like her in general. She is a genuine kind hearted person. Not to mention our hygienist is so sweet and is someone who is very experienced. We have her every time we are in and absolutely love her and what a wonderful job she's done. If you're thinking about taking your little ones to the dentist and you want your child to have a staff that is so kind and compassionate, then this is definitely the place to go. Again, coming to see Dr Kilgore was a major score for my family! It takes someone special to be a pediatric dentist and she's just so naturally good with our children and they never have any fear of coming to the dentist. Five stars is definitely not enough to say how great Dr Kilgore and staff are. You all are sincerely amazing people and are so good at your profession. Thank you Dr. Kilgore for everything you have done to help us!!

Absolutely as good as it gets!…read more I was in need of dentist for my 2 year old. I had heard enough dental horror stories to know I wanted a pediatric dentist. When I first moved here I heard some parents say Auburn Pediatric Dentistry was a good place to go, so given it's the only pediatric dental facility nearby I decided to give it a shot. I spoke with Jenny on the phone, who was extremely professional, yet friendly (the best combination in customer-oriented field). She was detail-oriented and smart enough to verify that our scheduled time was not during nap time (a brilliant question to ask!). She gave good advice as to what to tell my daughter about the upcoming visit and when I had questions to ask I didn't feel like I was being hurried off the phone (invaluable!). Jenny emailed me the forms to fill out ahead of time and then I also got a reminder call a week in advance. I believe our appointment was about two weeks from the time we called, so that seemed like a reasonable time to wait for an opening. When I first heard the dentist's hours I thought "well that's typical!" Meaning dentists always seem to have a truncated work week. However, in the next sentence, it was explained that the days that Dr. Derrow wasn't in the office was because she was doing work at Riley's Children's Hospital and the like. Okay, well, see, this is why you shouldn't jump to conclusions. She wasn't off getting her nails done--she was helping really sick kids. So today was D-day. After reading Dora's "Show Me Your Smile" book a dozen times we headed over (it's very near the hospital). Everything about their office is geared towards their patients; they even have an alligator mailbox! We walked in and saw my daughter's (first) name listed on the Welcome Board. What a nice little touch! We were given a warm welcome by Jenny when we signed in. The fish tank (Nemo-themed) and kid sized tables and chairs were greatly endorsed by my daughter as we sat in the waiting room. They do have a policy about not being seen (potentially) if you are more than 10 minutes late. I think we got called in right around 10 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. (I would have a problem with an office where you can't be 10 minutes late, but they can. Not that I think the clients should be late. More so, I believe the doctors/dentists shouldn't be either!) We were taken back by Megan who did her best to elicit a smile from my daughter by taking the time to show her the treasure chest and the paintings of the underwater scenes through out the office. She did a fantastic job of talking to both patient and parent and in explaining what was going to happen in child-friendly terms. Dr. Derrow was a blessing! She took several minutes before getting started to talk with my daughter and asked questions that are 2 year old-friendly (Do you have any dogs at home? Are you in a big-girl bed or still in your snuggly crib?). She even had grape-scented purple latex gloves. How cool is that? What told me this was a place to have as our "dental home" was when my daughter started to cry (it's virtually inevitable at this age, isn't it?) and I began singing, "Wheels on the Bus" and I was joined in by not only Megan, but also by Dr. Derrow. Everyone in that office goes above and beyond to make your child feel cared for and welcomed. So many people congratulated my daughter on her first dental visit (even staff that wasn't directly caring for her) that it felt like she had a cheering section. Moreover, all of the staff seems to get along with one another, as well, and it shows. Oh and Tracy was extremely pleasant and super helpful as we were paying and saying goodbye. I even ended up with a good recommendation for Chinese food on my way out! One thing I might do differently, though, is just to pick up their dental brochure before going in for your child's first visit. The pictures show what the office looks like and there are photos of Dr. Derrow to help your child know what and whom to expect. Over all, I will absolutely be recommending this office again and again. Auburn is very blessed to have them here.

I…read morewas not looking forward to going to any dentist, and have avoided it for years due to past experiences with local dentists in my area who were rude, too rough, impersonal, etc. But, lucky me I broke a tooth and made a decision to get it fixed along with anything else at the same time. I was able to been seen right away, instead of having to schedule a month out or more like most local dentist offices. I asked for a female dentist, as the males I have had in the past were the same ones with the attributes I mentioned above. My first visit I was full of anxiety, nervous, etc. Then I found out that my dentist that day would be a male as no females were on duty. I wasn't happy at first, very nervous, but was assured that he was awesome. Let me assure you, Dr. Kurt Losier is in fact AWESOME. Honestly, I would prefer him in the future. So personable, caring, and an expert in his field. As far as billing/cost, if you don't ask questions that's your own fault. Yes, I was presented with a rather large quote on what I needed done, but when I stated I couldn't afford that, the dentist and the finance rep were able to adjust to what was needed most as far as procedures, then I was informed of an insurance they offered that cost me only $99 a year, but ended up saving me $805 off my bill. Totally worth it. Needless to say, we got to a reasonable agreeable amount. The staff are all very friendly and made this first visit in over 15 years for me, the best I can remember ever having. You don't have to agree to anything unless you chose. You are given a breakdown of what the dentist suggests needs done, but you are also given choices, and information like I was, on addtional insurance if you have none or if your current insurance has ample coverage, like mine. As far as the poor reviews, I beleive they are such due to lack of knowledge and persistence on the writer's end. So if you aren't sure, take my advice and at least give them a try. Too many will write of a bad experience, very few will write of great ones.

I'm not ok at this point, visibly shaking. They made me believe my mouth was in horrible shape and if I didn't get all the treatments, I'd lose my teeth. Just to be clear I had a couple cavities and needed a wisdom tooth extracted. I paid several thousands of dollars for what they recommended due to the stress I was under. I paid the bill in full a couple days later. I wasn't trying to get out of paying the bill but I received another bill for $55 and called to tell them I already gave them thousands and I'm not paying another dime. Also I let them know that filling my mouth full of shots then sending me to discuss prices was not the way to do it. I should have been able to discuss treatment options and prices before anything was done in my mouth considering how terrified I am of everything. Sounds reasonable to me. The lady I talked to on the phone couldn't comprehend what I was saying and told me I was "using big words" . I explained in kindergarten terms a couple times that they need to discuss treatment and prices before pumping people's mouths full of shots. Especially if they make it known they have fears. She absolutely didn't understand what I was saying. I became aggravated and told her I was done with the conversation, the bill is paid and I won't be back. Completely shady business practice if you ask me!
