I rarely give bad reviews however if this is the only experience someone has of a dentist office that is so disappointing. It's a big open room. It reminds me of an office and cubicals. It's not individual rooms. I should have left then because that's weird but no I tried and stayed. Did my X-rays. The dental assistant was very nice. After, the doctor came and assessed me which was fine he was fine. However, there was no cleaning. I went to the dentist for an assessment and no cleaning?! He stared that's how it is there. Well I would have not wasted my time if it was only a consult. Why would there not be a cleaning?? I've never heard of that. Absolutely bizarre. Lastly, I don't think it's very clean. There's no plastic on the lights or x ray machines. So they're touching your mouth and touching those things and again and again for the next patient. I'm disgusted and ashamed that I sat through that. I will definitely not be back and I could not recommend this to anyone else. read more

Dental Solutions Market Street is out to get your money, as the other reviewers have said. STAY AWAY. They billed for a procedure that was unusual, because it was to clean teeth with serious gum disease, but the patient did not have those symptoms. As other reviewers have said, we suspect this office is trying to get away with making as much money as possible and upbilling patients where they can. They promised to only do procedures that were covered by insurance, but do not accept responsibility when they were misinformed and those procedures are actually not covered, footing customers with hundreds of dollars in surprise fees. When trying to negotiate with them and get clarity on their mistake, they put the onus on YOU to speak to your insurance AND in the meantime in the runaround -- despite you telling them that you are talking to the insurance company -- they IMMEDIATELY send your bill to a PREDATORY COLLECTIONS COMPANY so it rapidly accrues hefty late fees (all within 1 month). It got to the point that the confusion about communication with the office and their collections agency was so much that the fed up patient ended up paying several hundred dollars just to make everyone go away. Avoid the headache, avoid this office like the plague. It is scammy and the customer service is a hot trash fire. Their catchphrase "It's not our responsibility!" There are dental offices in this area that do not have any negative reviews, and those were actually genuinely good when I went to them. The MASSIVE number of 1 star the negative reviews of this office should be a HUGE RED FLAG. No routine dental cleaning with insurance should end up costing $400. All 3 of my appointments were 30-60 minutes late with no explanation. At 4pm the day before a cleaning scheduled six months prior (and confirmed a few times), the appointment was canceled. I moved my schedule around to accommodate them and then when I was running late they told me no appointment because of their strict on time policy. I won't be returning and was foolish to give them another chance for a place that is so disrespectful of customers' time including both lateness and last minute cancelations while requiring customers to respect their on time policy. They give you all available options so I don't feel swayed to choose insanely expensive dental treatment. Dr Blumenthal and his staff took very good care of me. I had to have a tooth extracted and and implant put in. Dr Blumenthal did his best and it hardly hurt at all. Get a second opinion. I went here in the summer of 2021 and they said I'd need dental implants based on my x-rays - oh and for first time visits they only do x-rays and a consult and no cleaning, so I was supposed to come back in a month, because I clearly have time to head down to the Fashion District twice on a weekday. They canceled that appointment and having a bad feeling, I just decided not to go back and get another opinion. At the time, I was new to Philly and mentioned I was looking for a new dentist and they said disparaging stuff about the state I moved from. Well, I didn't get around to a new dentist until...now. New dentist saw the same teeth on new x-rays and couldn't believe implants were suggested. Clearly they just want money and don't care about the possible trauma that yanking teeth and implants might cause. read more

I went through my twenties basically without having a dentist; it wasn't until I was living in China between 2009 - 2014 that I started getting dental work done again to address some of the problems my teeth face, and then it was just transactional (but cheap and well done!), without ever seeing the same dentist twice. After moving back to the US, I did eventually start getting regular care from a consistent provider, but it generally left me underwhelmed/unenthused. Nothing bad, mind you, but honestly I felt about going in the same way a lot of people feel about seeing the dentist - uncomfortable/anxious and paying way more than I really wanted to. By contrast, I've been thrilled with Dental Soultions ever since they fit me in for an emergency visit this past June when a broken tooth I'd been putting off work on in my lower right jaw became pretty much crippling painful any time I tried to eat. It was easy to come in as a new patient and they got to work on the mess of a mouth that I brought in. In my first sequence of visits, I got two extractions done (one a wisdom tooth, the other one that had broken off near the gum line years prior) and had an implant put in, in addition to more standard stuff like having my teeth x-rayed. But as far as the heavy-lifting work mentioned in that last sentence - root canals, extractions, and implants are the stuff of nightmare to a lot of people, but it was done brilliantly every step of the way here. I was impressed by the high quality of Dental Solutions' equipment just like I was by the doctor's excellent work and the friendliness of the staff. Since that all wrapped, I've been back for fillings and a cleaning, still with no complaints. They're easy to schedule with and roll with you when you have to reschedule or miss an appointment. Overall, I'm happier with Dental Solutions than I ever really expected to be with a dentist's office at this stage of my life, especially given how much work I came in needing. Having gotten through the initial wave of scary work with such positive experiences, I really have no anxiety whatsoever about going in now. at this point its been an overall bad experience. its time for me to find new dental care. first I was fitted for a new retainer (costing me 600 out of pocket) came in for the retainer after measurements and it didn't fit, so we started the process again. second time around the retainer fit but was pressing up against my gums, causing some slight discomfort that I said nothing about because I didn't want to complain. Came in for a cleaning following this that seemed shorter than ones I've had in past, but what do I know. At some point I needed a new crown (I was told insurance would over so much and I still owed quite the amount) the process for this began with them drilling down my old tooth and placing a temporary crown while I waited two weeks the final product. The temporary was painful and pinched my gums but two weeks of eating on one side of my mouth wasn't a huge deal. when I came for the final crown my gums were inflamed but the girl glued in the permant crown. it fit and I felt better but within a week there was infection. I called left and left a message a couple days prior to thanksgiving asking that they prescribe me with an antibiotic but I didn't get a call back. I waited out the holiday and had a cleaning coming up so I mentioned it while there, they agreed and this time around after finally checking the tooth they are agreed that it was infected but would be sending me to a specialist. she would go in kill the infection and I would have to get a root canal (drilling through this brand new crown) more money. this is all taken care of finally after spending the holidays in pain! more surprise copays, all around xmas. And I'm not even finished with my experience, this is where I'm frustrated.... on of my bottom from teeth chipped. I paid the copay to have it filled. the filling fell out within the week. (now he did warn me that this could happen) I came in to have it fixed, another random fee I had pay. BUT this time around filing my small tooth, she says it won't fall out if she grinds my actual tooth down a bit. ok I'm assuming the filling will cover the part of my tooth she is removing but no! she shows the mirror and I'm at a loss for words. the two teeth that were once the same size or not! she shaved down my entire tooth. when I later talk to my actual dentist there he brushes it off and says my tooth will push up and level out. this is ridiculous! now my teeth are uneven and who knows how long it will take for my tooth to "push upwards" and level out. Finally I've decided this place is a joke. I was begging to to think they have students working on peoples mouths. I can't be this unlucky to have to dealt with this many issues. thousands later and boom surprise bills. my dental insurance won't be coviering all the lunacy from November and December so now I need to find out how pay these extra bills on top of everything. a lot of stress dealing with this place. read more

Finding a in-network provider is hard in it self, but finding one that you like and and can talk to, unheard of. So when I felt an ache in my molar, I really wasn't looking forward to any part of this process. This place made it seamless and easy. I made an appointment online on Tuesday morning, immediately received email confirmation. Wednesday, I received a text requesting my insurance information. I called and provided and the front desk and they informed me that I would need to change my primary care dentist, and gave me step by step on how to do so. Once in the office they gave me paperwork and I was seen almost immediately. The Dental Assistant was great, she took X-rays quickly and painlessly. I was then seen by Dr. Lewis who seemed like he was well briefed on the situation even though I been in the for just a few minutes. He went tooth by tooth telling me exactly what I need to have done and what was covered by my insurance. I felt super comfortable, and able to discuss options. I saw a bunch of reviews on here about "they just want you money". Its a business, I didn't feel like that at all. I look forward to using them again. read more

This office was recently sold to a new group. Go there at your own risk. They pulled a good tooth with a small cavity to get me to to do an implant which they seem to not be able to get right. The implant is loose and not aligned properly. They created a food trap with the new implant that i will have to live with for the rest of my life. I am more that pissed off. Yikes. I'm so glad I went and got a second opinion after visiting dental solutions. This place is clearly out for your money. I had a weird experience from the start, they wanted me to send my x-rays from 4 years ago to them, which I can understand, but pulled them and kept referencing work that needed to be done based on those x-rays (refill a cavity filling that fell out). I explained to them, twice that this had already been filled and that if they took new x-rays (or looked in my mouth) they'd be able to see that. I explained to them that I was dealing with a weird feeling on my tooth, and wasn't sure if it was because of past dental work and potential need for an implant at some point in my life. While we were looking at my OLD x-rays, they told me the root was fine and that i could probably wait 15-20 years (or maybe forever!) and I said OK but that was from 4 years ago, so could you take a new x-ray? She yanked on my tooth and said "yes, its mobile, will probably need to come out within a year and put an implant in". At that point, I had a zillion questions...you can't see the root with the naked eye, so how are you getting to this decision? I kept asking the doctor questions but she almost was mocking me for being worried about having a tooth pulled and wanting answers. She rushed me out of there (only two 2 x-rays, and that wasn't even of the tooth we were discussing) and then showed me to her finance guy...what? He was trying to get me to agree to this procedure (roughly 6k) and he told me at that point that I would have a temporary tooth in for 3 months and then would need chew at the back of my teeth during that point. Why is your finance guy telling me this, and not you? I got a second opinion and the doctor told me that in no way does my tooth need to be extracted, and front teeth are always a little more mobile than others. TLDR, didn't seem like they wanted anything other than my money. I felt uncomfortable and they weren't answering any of my questions. Also, the doc YANKED on my tooth to the point where it hurt sooooo bad that i had to take advil 2 days later to stop the pain. I care a lot about my teeth and would not trust this group. read more

I've been to this dentist office three times. Each time they were running VERY LATE. I waited for half an hour past my appointment time once. The dentist I had was very rude. One hygienist was nice, but very very slow. I told her that because they were running late, I was worried I would be late to a meeting....she was very disorganized and slow. She kept leaving to get things that weren't at her station. The most recent visit I had was during the pandemic....the receptionists kept taking off their masks while talking to patients, no one in the waiting room was wearing a mask, despite a sign outside asking that everyone wear one. No one was asked to put their mask on or wear it correctly. Every single employee I saw at the front desk had their mask around their chin, not covering their mouth or nose. The only precautions they took were taking people's temperatures and having people sit in every other seat. Just overall incredibly frustrating experiences here. read more

Excellent! I'm lovin' Dr. Steven Gelbart DDS and his team! He was funny, professional, engaging - and didn't object to being featured in my 'dental check-up/teeth cleaning Instagram post'. LOL I had "one" issue (I'm really not a guy to complain, but it's worth noting): there was an HOUR between my 'check up' and 'quarterly cleaning' appointments. I was bugged about it. I received excellent service at my first visit Dental Solutions for a checkup and cleaning. Making an appt was a breeze. The front desk staff is super nice and they respond to emails as well! I did not wait long for either appt, which is always a plus. Dr. Gelbart was concise and professional. He actually went above and beyond. I actually fell last month (teeth went through lower lip) and he advised me to go to a dermatologist. He was friendly and truly caring. My cleaning was also a breeze. I am very disappointed with this location Over the holidays, I unknowingly had a food particle lodged under my gum. This resulted in a tooth ache and swollen jaw. I went to this location and had it looked at. They took an xray and I was told in less than 1 second, I kid you not, that I needed a root canal and that it would cost $2900. I was stunned! I left and decided to obtain a second opinion. Before, I could obtain the second opinion, the particle dislodged, my tooth stopped hurting and the swelling is going down. This was my experience, I just thought I would share it. read more

I cannot warn people enough against this dental practice. There goal is simply to make as much money off of you as possible making it very difficult to get good service. In any health care relationship honesty is critical but perhaps even more important is that you feel like they are your advocate. Here it is clear that they are the advocate of the brand name products and dental solutions they are pushing and have no interest in helping you to understand your insurance coverage and what is available to you under that. Necessary / routine procedures were purposely clumped together with expensive add ons regardless of the necessity. Find another dentist quick! read more

I fear the dentist. The very thought of sitting in that wretched chair is cause enough to find me withering in the corner. As such, you can imagine my dismay when I found myself paralyzed by a severe toothache for days on end. The utter agony left me with either the choice of bludgeoning my head or heading to the dentist, I begrudgingly chose the latter. In spite of my fears, I had a truly wonderful time at Dental Solutions (the new name of the office). The dentist, pardon but his name currently escapes me, took his time in fixing my problem. It turned out that my last dentist had not completed a root canal which had become reinfected. This dentist took x-rays throughout the procedure to ensure that he was truly clearing out the root. All in all he was patient, thorough, and sweet enough to deal with my heightened anxiety. The entire staff is wonderful and a pleasure to interact with. I just might find myself back in that chair before none too long. read more

I did not have a great experience here. The front desk staff was indeed nice, but the entire time I was there I felt more like a cash cow than a patient. The dentist (I do not know his name, but it was not Dr. Cohen) came up to me and said "too bad your teeth are so nice, we can't make money off you!" He was being sarcastic, but that comment reflected the mentality of the place. They kept trying to goad me into getting Invisaline and tooth whitening, even though I have already had braces. The hygienists who did my x-rays and cleaning were also NOT gentle. I've had x-rays done many times before, and never once have I been in such pain from hitting sensitive nerves in my mouth while inserting those little tabs they use to keep your mouth open during the x-ray. I think I'll pass on getting my cleaning here again. read more

I don't know why this place has such bad reviews. I went there to get a full exam including xray, a fluoride treatment, cleaning and a few fillings. The hygienist was so nice and walked me through everything she was doing. The front desk staff is very helpful with figuring out insurance and what is covered and what isn't. The doctor was great and always present. Going to the dentist can be slightly terrifying within itself but the staff here made me so comfortable! read more

Wow they are so wonderful here! I just moved from California and was very nervous to see a new dentist here in Philly. Lexi is incredibly patient and comforting. She deserves a promotion or award or something! I get pretty anxious at the dentist and she just calmed me right down and was just lovely. Dr Jonathan Lewis is also very comforting and patient. I felt like I was in great hands with both of them. Even the people at the front desk were so warm and friendly. I'm definitely impressed especially as my past dentists in California were amazing. read more

DONT GO HERE.!!!! Went in for a cleaning. They told me I need 3root canals an implant and a deep cleaning. Went to other dr and they said I need one filling and that dentals solutions are idiots trying to get money. They will purposely mess up the procedure so you have to come back for more stupid things. They'll do a root canal and pull a filling out in tooth close by so you have pain in another tooth and have to come back. read more

Update: As you can see, Dental Solutions reached out and I followed their advice. I made an appointment to see the dentist and found that both doctors who saw me had been "relocated". I was seen by yet a 3rd doctor whose diagnosis was oh, you don't need a root canal, you need TWO root canals! And to no surprise, they are on the perfectly good teeth that the other two now relocated dentists screwed up!! Now imagine, going to a dental professional, having not one but two procedures screwed up and then them having the audacity to even admit, yeah we screwed up but you have to pay even more to get it fixed. Dr. Gelbart was the the first dentist I saw in over 10 yrs due to my fear of dentists but he made me feel comfortable and at ease and he was extremely patient when I lost it during my extraction of 4 teeth. He was very knowledgable and professional but down to earth and relatable. He is my new permanent dentist. Plus he is isn't too bad to look at either. I recently had surgery at Jefferson Hospital and Dr. Daniel Taub was my oral surgeon. He explained everything he did and why. After 8 other oral surgeries I was afraid of having another operation on my gums but he made me feel very confident in his ability to help me. He explains everything and has a great bedside manner - very calming. The surgery staff at Jefferson were the best. If I had known that the experience would be as easy, I would never have been so fearful. It was a good experience and I am so happy with Dr. Taub who took on my "gums" after so many other surgeries. read more

A very good experience. Very friendly staff from the receptionists that discuss billing and payment to the dental assistant and doctors. I especially like the interaction between doctor and patient. Throughout my procedure the dentist would state what they were doing. In addition, they don't do procedures not needed. Point in case, during an earlier visit the dentist stated that a particular tooth MAY need a root canal. But upon further examination, it was determined that a root canal was not necessary, and that a filling would suffice. The dentist explained to me and showed me the x-ray that verified the diagnosis. After many years, I finally found a dental practice that I can trust and feel comfortable. read more

I've been seeing the practitioners at this facility for the past year, and considering my healthcare plan requires me to go to them, I have to say I've been very pleased. The front desk people go out of their way to learn your name, and the practitioners are very good. The two dentists I've seen have been very efficient and effective in their treatment, and the hygienist Joy is excellent, as she is very informative about your treatment options and treatment plan. Doctor Khouri did a recession procedure on me that didn't work the first time, and was very accommodating in revising the procedure several months later. My only concern is that they are trying to be a patient mill. My insurance is very good and at times I've felt like that they have been trying to take advantage of that, not realizing that my insurance doesn't cover everything and that in trying to increase insurance billing I've been nailed with some pretty steep bills. I don't really get the sense they are very sensitive to patient cost. However, I recommend them. read more

This place is an absolute circus with no filters or management. Please don't waste your time unless you want to step into a dirty out dated office with all unprofessional employees. The assistant that brought me back was covered in tattoos and long hair that wasn't even tied back. Her English skills were poor with no dental knowledge. The appointment was frustrating with everyone smelling like ash trays. The whole time I was in the chair I could hear the staff goofing off and making fun of patients. This made me insecure because I didn't know if it was me. I got cussed out before leaving by front desk who is still holding her job after yelling curse words in front of other patients in waiting room and her staff members. I have to admit i was a little leary about going to a dental solutions as oppossed to a private dentist. From the moment I called to make the appointment, they were very friendly and most important accomodating.When I entered the office I was impressed with the atmosphere. I liked there logo too Creating Smiles. Thats exactly what i was looking for to create my smile again...I am scared when it comes to dentists, i have been all of my life.. Maybe thats why my teeth are so bad but as I walked in this office I felt very at ease and comfortable.They did a state of the art xray and proceeded to talk to me about my needs.Stacy was an awesome assistant and she was very sweet. I liked the fact that the dentist Dr. Gelbart was a young and confident doctor that seemed up to date with the newest solutions in dentistry. We talked about what i wanted to get done and what was available to me. They didnt try to talk me into anything I didnt want or need. It all happenned so fast the next thing i knew they were checking my insurance and Tim the office manager, gave me a complete breakdown of what my insurance covered and what would be my out of pocket expense. Tim was very professional and he made the money situation,(which i think i was dreading just as much as the dentist) nothing for me to fear. It was all going to work out. Lastly I was back in the chair getting my impressions and the work was going to begin right away. I would recommend this office to anyone, specially if you are afraid of dentist's in general, They have all kinds of financing to help with any situation.Office staff was pleasant and Tim the office manager was awesome.. Thanks Stacy , Tim, Dr. Gelbart and all of the staff at Dental solutions for making my experience much more pleasant then i could have hoped for, And even though we did have to pay for parking, it was worth every penny..
