My father is a dentist and looked at the X-rays and explained that I needed one for buildup under the gum lines and this was several years ago, he also explained they are only necessary under certain circumstances and originally I fit that, again 2-3 years ago. I was 52 at the time and never needed one while my dad practicing until I was 45, this is NOT normally needed at all. Anyways I explained to them I'd do a regular cleaning and had to argue with them to get that. I go in and the hygienist says I was scheduled for a deep cleaning. I walked out never to return will get my cavities, root canal, and implant all scheduled to be done somewhere else. F*** them

I had been a patient of Dr. Yanover for many years. Since he is now less available due to being…read moresemi-retired, I unfortunately made a change in dentists to Dr. Gorlin. After months of agonizing pain from 2 crown surgeries from Dr. Gorlin, I ended up having an additional root canal as a result of failed procedures. In addition, I continued to discuss my teeth/pain issues at multiple follow up visits with Dr. Gorlin. However, Dr. Gorlin only determined the pain was due to a root canal from crown surgery. Finally, after a 2nd opinion with an endodontist, it was discussed my crowns were too high. Subsequently, a 3rd opinion with an oral/ maxillofacial surgeon determined the tooth (teeth) were not causing the agonizing pain. Extraction(s) were not required since there were no infection(s) in the tooth (teeth). He diagnosed me with Trigeminal Neuralgia, for which there is no cure - only management of a painful and chronic disease.

I went in for my usual 6 month cleaning and there was a definitely a difference. That warm, trusting and caring feeling I used to get was pretty much gone. My hygienist was still the same, but there was definitely a different vibe. After my cleaning was done, the new Dr. came in to see me and I must say it felt extremely awkward. I immediately got the impression that this practice has now become a business that puts money before the client's health and wellbeing. I was not impressed with this new practitioner at all. Well, 6 months later and time for my next cleaning. I had an open mind thinking that this visit may be a little better - giving the new practice a 2nd chance only because of my hygienist. Now, as I've stated, I've been going here for years. I was continuously praised Dr. Wishneff and the hygienist of how great my teeth and gums are -  no problems at all. After my hygienist poked around a little bit measuring gums and all, I now have issues that somehow miraculously appeared within 6 months. Surprise, surprise - these issues are not covered by insurance. To add insult to injury, she was not allowed to proceed with my cleaning unless I received and paid for the additional services. I left without getting anything done. Unfortunately, this is what the industry has become. Just keep in mind that once you're sitting in that chair, you become vulnerable and can be easily mislead.
