About as comfortable as a dentist visit can be!…read more A little background here...up until my appointment with Dr. Nickou I had not been to the dentist in 8 years after a few bad experiences with 2 different dentists. GROSS I know but once you've had a bad experience (let alone two) you NEVER want to go back to another dentist. After some pushing by my wife I made my appointment at Dr. Nickou's office and I'm glad I did. The staff at Charles Nickou's office is great. Making the appointment was easy and there wasn't a long waiting period. I originally made an appointment for one month down the road but got a call one week after making the appointment for an appointment that opened in two days. So I went to the dentist early. When I got in the door everyone was very nice to me. They asked why I hadn't been to the dentist in so long to get some background and then they took me back to the dreaded chair... ...The chair was way more comfortable than I had remembered it because the hygienist made me feel very comfortable. She was very good and very quick. I had my x-rays and my cleaning done in 30 minutes. After the cleaning Dr. Nickou came in to go over my x-rays and it turned out I had one cavity (my first cavity ever). He explained what he wanted to do and was ridiculously nice. He had me make another appointment to come back and get a filling. A few weeks later I was back at the office to get my filling and I'll admit I was pretty nervous to get the filling. The whole procedure was done in 15 min though and was not really uncomfortable at all. They have pictures on the ceiling of beaches and snow capped mountains etc. I thought it was a nice touch. Dr. Nickou also continually checked with me to make sure everything was OK. If you've had a bad experience in the past like me and you're delaying going to a different dentist because you think "you can't trust someone that puts their hands in your mouth" believe me, if you go see Dr. Nickou he'll take good care of you. The office is clean and the staff is great...it really is as comfortable as a dentist appointment can get.

After my visit I asked how much, they told me and I promptly paid. They then put my charge on his account which was not paid. They knew that there were separate accounts. I spoke to the office manager several times to no avail. Listening was not on her platter. They have sent the account to collections. I will not pay a bill because of their error. To be a patient for 20+ years and receive this type of treatment is unbelievable!

I have been a loyal paying customer for 25+ years and after speaking with a receptionist at the office recently I was so turned off that I will be moving my whole family elsewhere. She was rude and insulting when I was asking genuine questions regarding a billing discrepancy. I had no idea they were so expensive till I was pushed to compare prices to other places. The receptionists have always been pleasant to deal with when you shut up and pay your bill no questions asked however if you ever do have a question or concern that is where it will all take a turn for the worse. NOTE: The receptionist made a comment that they charge even more money (est. $30 more) to people that have no dental insurance coverage. I was unaware of that since I have always had dental coverage but I thought this should be known in case it could help someone else save some money. Just seemed very unfair. The owners have always been nice. I wish I could have asked them about the billing concern but the damage has already been done. I don't want to deal with the front desk help ever again.

I've had the absolute pleasure of completing a total dental restoration project in the care of the…read morewonderful Dr. Paul Mathew and his incredible team at Artisan Dentistry. I don't even know where to begin, but let me tell you--I hadn't pursued dental care since my late teens (I'm now in my mid-50s) due to a crippling dental fear that made me endure pain rather than visit a provider. At my wit's end, I searched for a dental office that could accommodate my phobia. I happened upon Artisan Dentistry and booked my consultation. I was visibly shaking and dizzy (literally!) with fear as I made my way to his practice and chair. (The office is beautifully and calmly decorated, and his staff is wonderfully trained to deal with us "chickens.") Dr. Mathew immediately greeted me warmly and asked me to talk about myself and my history. He has wonderful bedside manner and is quite gregarious--he genuinely enjoys a good chat. We just talked for about half an hour to an hour, and together we decided to take some careful steps forward. I asked about full sedation, and he was completely open to it and any options I wanted to pursue. I could call the shots at any time and switch sedation plans. He gently suggested that I start with a few teeth cleaning sessions using topical anesthetics and Novocain as needed, guaranteeing that I wouldn't feel anything. I went in for my cleanings, and it was exactly as he described--I didn't feel a thing! Here was the turning point: I asked him point-blank, "So I had some Novocain during my cleanings--is that what you would use if we didn't do sedation dentistry?" "Yes," he said, "the same type of pain management for each part of your mouth that I work on." I said, "You know what? Let's try it." That decision changed everything! For all the massive work that was done, I wasn't sedated in any way! Let me tell you, I've had major work done, and his priority was always pain management. Dr. Mathew literally changed my life by showing me "here is what a medical professional can be." Since being under his care, I no longer fear having minor medical procedures done in other doctors' offices. It turns out my epic teeth issues were only symptoms of the real problem: my fear of dentists (and medical professionals), the perceived loss of control, and procedures that were unknown to me. Yes, Dr. Mathew is at the top of his technical dental game--this is obvious (he loves to talk about the many seminars and practicals he still attends and the new things he's learned)--but for me? His ability to help people like me overcome life-long fear-based obstacles. He removed (extracted, lol?) my fundamental fear. I can't say it any clearer than that. He has done nothing short of changing my life. Oh, and as for my new dental work? The best compliment I get is how nice my teeth look and that I must be hawkish about brushing. They look completely natural, which has changed my face and definitely my smile. And as for being hawkish about brushing? Ha--well, I am now! Thank you, Dr. Mathew and Jaime. You have a friend for life. With all my love and gratitude--CK
