I wasn't sure what to expect when I applied to a job through the Parker Staffing website, but…read morewithin days I received a form email to schedule a Skype interview with their recruiter, Kelly. While I communicated with a few others at the agency, Kelly was who I communicated with most often. The interview I had with her was great. It was laid back but still a typical job interview, and then she provided me with feedback to improve some of my answers and tips for revising my resume. I sent her my updated resume, and she kept me on her radar for jobs that might be a good fit for me based on our conversation. When I went in to fill out some paperwork, she sat down with me for about 10-15 minutes to talk with me about an interview I had just been on and about salary negotiation tips--all for a job that wasn't through them. I really appreciated that she genuinely wanted to help me, and not just for a commission they'd get for placing a candidate. In the beginning, she called me about once a week for updates on how the interview process was going for me (for jobs I was applying to outside of them) and to run job openings by me to see if I was interested. It slowed down after the first initial weeks, but I didn't feel forgotten about. I could see that their staff was checking my LinkedIn profile and they called me once to see if I wanted to fill a last-minute need in my neighborhood just for some extra cash. I only went on one job interview set up through them, and I originally didn't really feel that excited about it or that it was a great match for me, but figured I should go for the experience. I honestly felt underqualified for the job, but felt more confident after the interview even though I didn't get the job. It was nice to have that push out of my comfort zone because it motivated me to continue applying to jobs I might not have considered before. After I went on this interview was when I started hearing from them less, and I wondered if it was because they got poor feedback about me from the employer, but I think that was my insecurity creeping in. I remembered that during my first meeting with Kelly she told me that I might not hear from them for weeks at a time because what I was most interested in, a direct-hire opportunity, was what was least commonly available and they weren't just trying to get me just any job. Even though they didn't place me in a position, I'm glad I worked with them because it was free interview and resume help and a new perspective on how my skills might translate into different positions. If I find myself laid off and in need of help and motivation to find a new career, I'll definitely reach out to them again.

I went in originally for a cleaning with x-rays which went well. From there it was recommended that I get a deep cleaning and two fillings before I could get the free teeth whitening promotion that was offered. I'm really not a fan of services not covered by insurance because I work hard to have insurance and while insurance is not great these days (coverage has lessened over my lifetime certainly) it does cover enough, and I shouldn't have to pay so much out of pocket for dental care. One of my priorities was to get pricing and an understanding of the Invisalign-like options for some seemingly minor teeth straightening as my lower teeth have shifted some over the years. This was not prioritized in my care plan and I had to ask for pricing on it; the pricing was more ballpark and not a true walk through of my teeth and needs. I did schedule and get my fillings, one of which was super appreciated as it was to protect exposed root due to a random receding gum area that's been on my radar for years and has some sensitivity. The other filling was quick and while I usually don't take novicain if the dentist is open to it, I was advised I would need it & it did go ok for me, and the filling was done swiftly. Too swiftly it turned out. We did not do the floss test post filling (maybe it was forgotten, maybe it's not done here, or maybe it was just the end of the day) and I spent 5 days trying to clear the spot with brushing to get floss in. I ended up having to call to go back in and get the hygienist to fix it by pushing through/eliminating the obstruction. Lastly, it seems that because I chose not to get the deep cleaning, the free teeth whitening promotion cannot/will not be done. I feel stuck and dissatisfied by that, as if it's free only if I pay $400+ (estimate, I don't have the numbers in front of me) out of pocket for the recommended deep cleaning of my teeth. I've been to many dentists over the years due to life adventures and moves and I'd like to find one to stay with. I'm still not sure if this is the one but hoping to resolve some of this eventually. No photos but the office is nice and parking is good.

Some of the original office staff was still working so we felt some comfort knowing them. Almost immediately, as we took our seats in the dental chair the subject of food came up. Dr. Koo is Korean and Korean food is our favorite. We shared some of the Korean restaurants in the Federal Way area and our favorite dishes. He was somewhat surprised as to our knowledge of various Korean dishes and he suggested several dishes we should try at our next outing.
