In February 2023, I bought a new car - a fresh from the factory, brand-new, 2023 model. It arrived at a time when we were using the garage as a staging area to move things out of the house to make space for my uncle to move in with us, and to make the pathways wheelchair-accessible. So, I parked my shiny new car in the driveway. No big deal, lots of people park outside, right? Of course, we have lots of wild turkeys in our neighborhood, and they graze in all of the yards on my street, including ours. I've had as many as 70 turkeys in my yard at once, maybe more. As luck would have it, my pretty green Palisade had the great misfortune of being delivered in the middle of mating season. As it turns out, Hyundai's "Robust Emerald" exterior paint is so dark that it looks black in some lighting and this car is extremely reflective. The male turkeys saw their reflections in my car and mistook their own images for competition in mating season, which is what precipitated their attacks on my poor defenseless car. By the time mating season was over, my vehicle had 4 dents in the driver's door and 1 dent in the front passenger door. All were shallow and small, just the diameter of a turkey beak - and turkey-high. Once I was able to park my car in the garage again, I started looking for a company to restore my car to its formerly pristine condition. A friend of my fiancee's told us about PDR - Paintless Dent Repair - and told us my car was a perfect candidate for this procedure. I called a few companies in my area that provided mobile PDR services, and after speaking with several, I found myself leaning towards The Dent People. The owner, Chris, was very nice and seemed knowledgeable. When I explained I was having trouble taking photos of the dents to get an estimate because my car acted as a mirror and every photo showed the scenery across from my car instead of the vehicle, he offered to come by that afternoon and give me an estimate. True to his word, Chris messaged me in the afternoon to confirm that I was OK with him arriving around 4:45 PM that day. Once he arrived, he quoted me a price that was extremely reasonable and below my insurance deductible. When he offered to fix the dents right away, I gratefully accepted. Within an hour, his magic (aka skill and experience) had made all 5 dents disappear and my car looks like nothing ever happened. Frankly, I think it might have taken him less time to fix them if he hadn't been so patient with my questions and chatter while he worked. I was curious about the process, and extremely excited as I saw each dent vanish, which had to be a little distracting.
