Denver Omelet and Very Berry Pancakes Plates
Jenny C.

My lazy days usually consist of eating brunch at a causal local place -- and the Denny's fits the bill. This is located is surprisingly operates 24/7. There's ample amount of parking. Upon entering, we were quickly greeted and seated. There's plenty of booths, tables and two "semi-private" area for bigger parties. The friendly server came promptly and took out orders. Our food arrived promptly less than 15 minutes. It was refreshing, the local manager made an effort to stopped by to check on our services. I give this place a thumbs-up for hospitality. The menu items is exactly what I remembered -- lots of breakfast options including "build your own plate". There's a new item of adding a stack of caramel cream buttermilk pancakes" to any meal for additional $2.99. We ordered the classic slams and omelette. (1) Very Berry Pancakes Plate. It comes with two pancakes generously topped with strawberries, bananas and blueberries. I was surprised it's only two pancakes. I thought stacks usually means 3-4 servings. For a pancake lover this was a bit disappointing. I would've gave up eggs and sausages for extra pancakes. (2) Denver Omelette. It was delicious but wished the fillings were a bit generous on diced red peppers or ham. I like the efficiency whereas check was dropped at our table toward the end of our meal without being asked. You have the option of paying on the Denny's app or like the good old days take the receipt to pay at the front counter. We enjoyed the meal. Therefore, we will come back again to support this location.

Stuffed French toast with Strawberries

Their breakfasts never disappoint. I ordered their stuffed French toast with strawberries as part of a slam breakfast. I received two large stuffed French toast, eggs , sausage and bacon. All exceptional good. Our waiter Oscar was the best!

Finally visited my local Dennys & yes we have something that not only closes late but actually NEVER CLOSES in our City. Came to have brunch w a mama friend & her 2 kids along w my youngest kids on a Monday noon. Our server Juvenal was really patient with us. We were seated right away. Service was great along w receiving our food in a timely manner. The restaurant decor was really nice, modern and beautiful. Love all the old photos being displayed on the wall of our city especially the big Main Street photo of a beauty lady on her horse that was taken at the historic Main Street of Yorba linda. Restaurant is pretty spacious big. They have an outdoor patio. Great place for a decent brunch, lunch & even dinner. FYI KIDS EAT FREE MONDAY-Friday 2- 10 pm Download their app for coupons.

New Yorba Linda location!!! Nice modern updated look inside. Love the pics of our little town displayed throughout the restaurant. Located in the same plaza as the new Target and Lamppost Pizza. We thought parking was going to be an issue but it's been ok so far every time we drive by. We came here for our Saturday brunch and there was no wait and the restaurant was buzzing. Menu looks updated with lots of new items I don't recall seeing at Dennys before.

Brisk-it-all-melt Slamburger

The new Denny's in Yorba Linda is a very pleasant surprise! The dining room is decorated with a contemporary flair and their spin on the traditional diner-counter seating is genius for maximizing space while still creating a fun dining experience. So I don't know if it's just because I haven't been to a Denny's in a while or what, but the menu selection is not what I remember it to be. The classic Denny's options like the Grand Slam plates are still on the menu, but some new things have been added that are pretty darn tasty! We chose the Brisk-it-all sandwich and the Slamburger, both with over easy eggs and my oh my, I consider both of them to be craveable in my near future! Our server, Yolanda, was friendly and attentive and we hope to sit in her area again when we return. Give 'em a try. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised, too!

Managers and servers

On Jan 12, 2025 we went to Denny's in Yorba Linda. We arrived at 10:30, and were seated immediately. After our order was taken it was at least 30 minutes before our food arrived. We'll five out of six were served. My granddaughter had not received her meal. Our server must have gone on break. I finally was able to get the managers attention and asked what happened to my granddaughter daughter's order. Meanwhile there was a plate of food sitting on the shelf between the cooks and servers. She walked over grabbed the plate and brought it to our table and sat it in front of my granddaughter. My granddaughter grabbed a French fry and started eating it. The manager rushed back over reached for the plate and said it was not for her and said it was another customers order. My granddaughter placed the half eaten fry on the plate. The manager who took the plate then handed it to the waiter and told him to deliver it to another customer, he did. After finishing our meal I called the manager over and asked why she served the dinner that originally was served to my granddaughter directly to another customer with a half eaten fry on it? She replied she had changed the plate. I snapped back saying,"no you didn't, you took the plate from my granddaughter and handed it to the server and told him to deliver it to another customer." She walked away quickly. When she returned she offered my granddaughter daughter a free desert. I told the waiter to apply the desert cost to the bill. There were two birthdays at our table but we were told birthday slam breakfast are not done anymore. For years we have gone to Dennys for the grand slam birthday meal. After the lack of following health code procedures I am pretty certain we won't be visiting Dennys any time soon. I highly suggest if you decide to go to Dennys, sit where you can see your food from kitchen to table. Be aware if management is pulling this stuff she may not be the only one. Unbelievable!!

This is not a joke. This is an actual receipt from Denny's. For only 4 people.
Armando H.

The food was really good. I tell my kids, you can have two different people be given the same ingredients and if they cook the same thing, one will be better than the other. Why, the cook. Whoever is working the kitchen is a keeper. Watch out because other restaurants should probably want to snag them up. What shocking was the cost...wow.

The inside is a far cry from the Ruby's diner it used to be. It's similar to Islands but more 50's older crown with a full bar at the end. My only gripe was the ketchup. Smelled off and looked off. Tasted strange. Almost like Knollwoods had back in the day. Gross ketchup in squeeze bottles. They should be emptied and cleaned periodically. The candied pecans, fruit, cheese, vinaigrette, and greens all competing at once made it feel more confusing than cohesive. Sweet, savory, tangy... all at the same time. Some people might really enjoy that mix, but for me it didn't quite come together. If you like bold, layered flavors and a sweeter salad, you'll probably like it. If you're looking for something more simple and balanced, this one might miss the mark. Still solid food overall -- just not my favorite combination. Maybe try another dish.

I've been to Mr. D's Diner a few times now and can't believe I'm only reviewing it now. Shame on…read moreme. As someone who was spoiled by truly great chicken fried steak back when I lived in the Pacific Northwest, I'll admit I'm picky. Down here in this part of OC, there aren't many spots that even come close. Mr. D's? Not quite PNW-level--but honestly, pretty darn acceptable (and that says a lot lol). Their chicken fried steak comes out generous: well-battered, nicely fried, served with country potatoes and veggies. I do miss a good old biscuit and chunky, meaty gravy, but their version--while smoother and less chunky--is still tasty and satisfying.( but seriously, you could add more lol) We had an early family dinner here and everything hit the spot. I had the chicken fried steak, my fiancé ordered the chilaquiles, and the kids went classic with a BLT and a hamburger, both with fries. No complaints all around. Service is friendly and efficient, the restaurant is clean, bright, and very well kept. And the décor? Full-on 1950s diner vibes--done right. Not kitschy, not cheap-looking, just straight-up retro cool. Kudos to the Mr. D's team for committing to the theme. I didn't try the pies yet (they're staring at you from the display case), but they looked tempting enough that I know I'll be back. Solid diner, generous portions, good vibes. Definitely worth a stop.

This has always been my rule of thumb and I ate there anyway.... Back in the day we loved Polly's! I went there as a kid many years ago and they had the best Polly burger and fries... This location is old and dated, you can smell mold as you walk in the back door, it doesn't seem loved anymore. It needs a deep clean and a facelift. The hostess's finished whatever they were doing with the menus then greeted us, it's not like they were busy but oh well. Their prime rib special is from 4 pm to closing and at 5:30 we were told there was only 1 serving left lol. That's ok we only wanted 1 and a salad. Service was slow, it wasn't busy but only two servers for like 10 tables... I just don't know, like I said it didn't feel loved. Their horseradish came in a plastic cup on the plate with the food which was fine but it didn't look like horseradish sauce or horseradish cream. I took a quick taste and asked why it was warm! And he said he could bring plain horseradish that was cold... I was confused but this stuff was warm and it was prepared horseradish mixed with mayonnaise! Warm mayonnaise is NOT SAFE as far as I know and it just doesn't taste good. The prepared horseradish should have been mixed with sour cream, not mayonnaise! Again... no love even in the horseradish sauce. The prime rib itself wasn't bad! It lacked flavor but it was nice and tender. The lettuce in my wedge salad was fresh and that made me happy but there was no red onion and the bacon bits were not fresh, maybe old and from a bag? The blue cheese dressing had a funky kinda miracle whip taste to it that I personally don't care for. There were a nice amount of blue cheese crumbles on it though. We won't go back, we didn't even have pie. I really miss that hoppin place we used to visit so many years ago. What a shame.

It's kind of like a skillet, except you have full control of how much of each items goes into it. Normally I don't like a ton of gravy in this ritual, but something about the gravy and sausage at Paul's Country Kitchen made this Grand Finale especially delicious. I mean--the Char's Country Plate was good in itself. I've had something similar at the nearby Mr. D's with its two sausage patties on a biscuit covered in gravy along with eggs and hash browns. I think the version at Paul's was a bit better. Every bite was a delight. But I think the best bites were reserved when I got that bit a sausage and gravy into the mix with the hash browns and perfectly cooked eggs. Grand Finales are usually a joy, but this one was especially joyous. Also, noticeable was the great service here. I found the servers personable and discerning. They managed to give out good recommendations, answer any questions about the offerings, and still hold good conversation. That's rare at any food joint you go to. Not only that, they held down the fort when it came to refills, getting my order out quickly, and dropping the bill off when it came time. The personal touch here is impeccable. Lastly, the ambience is great here. The space is kind of limited, but they had plenty of booths and tables, 2-tops and 4-tops, and counter space. Everything was decorated brightly without seeming gaudy, and it gave off a welcoming feeling that is traditional with all local diners. I wouldn't mind eating in a place like this regularly. In conclusion, I think I found a new place to have breakfast. Not only that, I think I found a new place to recommend to others when I want to point out what makes a good diner/coffee shop.
