Dr. Dennys Reyes, MD, FAHA is a vascular neurologist and endovascular neurointerventionalist with more than a decade focus on cerebrovascular disease. His career spans elite institutions including the Cleveland Clinic Florida, the National Institutes of Health under the NINDS branch, and Baptist Health South Florida. From early in his training, Dr. Reyes distinguished himself through clinically meaningful research in stroke prevention, acute stroke systems of care, and advanced neuroimaging--work presented at major national and international meetings such as the American Academy of Neurology, the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, and the International Stroke Conference.
At the NIH/NINDS, Dr. Reyes played a pivotal role in the development and validation of the NIH-FLAIR hyperintense vessel scoring system, advancing MRI-based assessment of perfusion deficits in hyperacute and acute stroke. He has served as an investigator in numerous landmark trials including DEFUSE-3, SHINE, ENRICH, TESLA, ASSIST, OCEANIC-AF, and PICASSO--and was the first physician in South Florida to enroll a patient in the PICASSO trial in 2024. He is also the Principal Investigator for the ORION clinical trial looking at the use of IV thrombolytics between 4.5 to 24 hrs, reflecting his leadership in advancing next-generation stroke therapies. His scholarly work includes high-impact publications in Stroke, Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery, and Cerebrovascular Diseases, with a consistent focus on translating innovation into real-world clinical benefit.
Since joining the Palm Beach Neuroscience Institute in 2019, Dr. Reyes has emerged as a regional leader in advanced endovascular stroke and aneurysm care. He was the first physician in South Florida to use the Evolve Flow Diverter for brain aneurysm treatment in 2020, and in 2021, at Delray Medical Center--the first hospital in Florida to use the RED 62™ Reperfusion Catheter and the BENCHMARK BMX96™ system for stroke patients--he helped introduce next-generation thrombectomy technology for large ischemic strokes. In 2023, Dr. Reyes was again recognized as the first in South Florida to use the RED 72™ Reperfusion Catheter with SENDit™ Technology, a platform that has helped reduce groin-to-reperfusion time, a critical determinant of neurological outcomes in acute stroke care. His work is consistently recognized by patients, reflected in nearly 200 Google reviews, and complemented by ongoing leadership roles, peer review for the AHA Stroke journal, and frequent media/TV engagement--cementing his reputation as a clinician-innovator, trial leader, and trusted authority in modern cerebrovascular care. read more
