I am on a road trip and we stopped in to grab a bite to eat. Well let's just say my eggs where not cooked the egg whites were still runny and so the took it back and brought me new one. They were still not cooked by this point I couldn't eat anything. Two of my friends found hair in their food. We stopped here yesterday morning on our way back home (6/5/2021). It didn't look busy when we parked, but there appeared to be a line. Looking inside the restaurant, there were maybe seven tables seated with over half the tables empty. Due to the states opening back up, this didn't make sense, but we put our names on the list. It took over 45 minutes to be seated at one of the tables that had remained empty the entire time, which was right next to another full table. We ordered coffee as we sat down, which wasn't delivered for another 15 minutes. We were ready to order, but the waitress didn't even ask and walked away. After another 15 minutes of waiting for the waitress to come back, we gave up, dropped a bill to pay for the coffee and informed those still waiting that it wasn't worth even the wait to be seated. There were other people standing and getting the same treatment There were plenty of tables and they were not that busy. I even asked a young man why we were being ignored but received no answer. We arrived late into town, and this was one place open. The service was incredibly friendly, and the food was every bit as good as Denny's always is. I liked the restaurant "style" with the classic black and white photos of Raton from many years ago. This Denny's has a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine which allows you to get many more flavors than just regular Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, etc. You can get Cherry, Lime, Strawberry, Vanilla, and many more fun flavors of whatever concoction you want. I mentioned how friendly the staff was. As we are contemplating buying a house in Raton, this was important. The pleasant people took the time to answer all of our questions about what to do in the town (hiking and swimming), crime, etc. They sold us! A nice, solid, clean, friendly place. read more

My double berry pancakes were raw and when I went to look for my waitress she was gone long enough for my husband to finish his whole plate so I went to the front and asked for some fresh pancakes to go nicely. They just kept saying she "says" there are raw. but then turns around and says it'll be out in a few minutes and the lady up front hosting was sitting down most of the time eating or talking to customers. I gave it 2 stars because the food was absolutely amazing but the service was absolutely awful. Host was rude when sitting us, waitress was rude and rushed our service. When we asked the waitress for things she rolled her eyes and repeated what we wanted as if we were asking for too much. Did not give us refills and when I asked for one she sighed. The staff in the kitchen and ones preparing plates/drinks to be brought to us weren't wearing masks and the few that were had them pulled down to their chin. The manager I assume (a gentleman with blonde/light brown hair) and one of the waitresses were cracking inappropriate jokes while we were checking out. So so so glad there is a normal food establishment in the area. No good place for breakfast in Trinidad but Raton has a couple of goods spots including Denny's. Only downside here is sometimes the wait times to get a table can be excessive. Work in progress I suppose. Talk to the waitstaff, they are fun people. You almost forget your in the middle of nowhere until you leave. You cant beat good breakfast served all day. Enjoy, there aren't too many good places in this region. read more

If you ignore the poor Yelp ratings like we did, then it's really on you. We just left after waiting over an hour and never receiving food. It took 20 minutes to get 2 of our drink orders (ice tea) and then another 10 minutes to get the 3rd, which was coffee. Coffee should always be the first out at a breakfast place. Aside from that, she only brought a single cup of coffee (no pitcher to refill it ourselves). My mother-in-law never got a refill on her coffee DESPITE the waitress asking if she'd like one and then never bringing it. We even asked a 2nd time after that. We were annoyed that service was so bad but still waiting for our food. After we'd been there an hour, the waitress came out and said she had given our food to another table (who came in 30 minutes after us) and would be happy to turn it in again if we were willing to wait longer for it. We stopped to eat a late lunch on Friday, 1/31/20, and when we walked in the staff was griping about something. Besides one other table, we were the only ones there. We had 5 people at our table. A lady seated us, but said she was already off her shift and that someone else would help us. We were seated for several minutes and could hear the staff still griping. Then a blond heavier set lady with the cash drawer said "Someone go take their drink order because they are giving me dirty looks." I guess we were putting them out, so we left. We ate at Denny's yesterday as one of the stops on our road trip. The food and service was pretty good! I had the bacon, avocado, cheese burger and I was really impressed. Our server was new, but she was very polite, and didn't hesitate to ensure that she had the order right. I really appreciated that. My daughter had the chicken tenders and grapes. I had a little bite of hers, and I was again impressed. My wife had the buffalo wings, and they were pretty comparable to Chili's (good thing). Overall, this was one of my better experiences with Denny's. read more

While the waitress service provided by crystal was exceptional, I could not say the same for the person she referred to as her manager. Complete lack of respect for the work environment and her employees. In regards to my food experience, when my plate arrived I asked that my hash browns be cooked a little more. After 8-10min my plate returned with the same exact hash browns. I was told it would be 10min longer to toast them longer. I was offered a separate order which I accepted. We asked the server that took the first table drink order of both tables were combined due said yes but walked away. We asked another server if we could receive service but no response. Okay, so we all know what to expect when stopping at Denny's, breakfast all the time, Mediocre coffee, average service, somewhat clean facilities, right? What you don't know and I certainly didn't expect was hearing a microwave door slam as the cook heated up my sent back stone cold grits. They were so awful but extremely burn your mouth hot. Really, microwave grits? Lazy cook. This is our second time at this location and so next time we pass through we will not be stopping there again. The waitress was friendly but speechless when she asked if the grits were hot enough and I answered her yes, I heard the microwave door slam!
