You can get decent food almost anywhere, but what makes the difference is great service. Our waitress, Robyn W, treated us like we were dining in a five-star restaurant. Our bottomless cup of coffee was constantly being filled, ( without our asking ), and she constantly checked up on us to see if we needed anything else and if we were enjoying our meal. These seem like little things, but it makes all the difference in the world when dining out and it's the difference between having a good dining experience and a poor one. My fiancé and I went to this Fort Myers Denny's and we were greeted by their nice and friendly waitstaff and seated immediately. They seemed a bit disorganized with staff though because we kept having multiple different waitresses coming up to our table asking for our order after we had already ordered with a different waitress and it even continued with that pattern throughout our dining experience. We both ordered their All-American Slam Breakfast except mine came with substitutions. We both agreed that our meals tasted good. Overall, average experience. read more

Wow! My hubby and I hadn't returned for a very long time since my last review of this Denny's. We thought it may have gotten better. Needless to say it was actually worse. First when we walked in we were not greeted. We waited for about 8 minutes when finally the manager she as last review just strolled up picked up two menus and walked over to a table and placed them there and walked away. When I thanked him he didn't even respond. Our server was the only one working the whole restaurant. She had about 10 tables and one was a big amount of people all by themselves in another section. Our server did pretty good. We have no complaints. Mr Droll the manager (I just named him he didn't have a name badge) was just expoing food. Would have been nice if he would have helped get more. We both ordered Country fried steak. Description was breaded beef steak with country gravy. What we received was a deep fried chicken breast with two spoonfuls of country gravy on top. We ordered rustic red potatoes. Not sure what they were supposed to be but we got deep fried potato chunks. We also ordered buttered corn , and dinner bread plus sweet tea. Everything tasted awful! The potatoes were so weird tasting along with the bread. It was garlic bread but it sure had a weird and unpleasant taste. The iced sweet tea tasted very bad. Who can mess up iced tea??? The food left a horrible taste in our mouths. We couldn't believe the food was so very horrid and trying to pass of chicken breast as country fried steak? This place needs a major overhaul starting with Mr Droll and the cooks! I was so disappointed that I had forgotten to take pics. So very bad! Do not go here! I went to Denny's by myself today for breakfast, my wife was in Sarasota so I thought I'll go out and get some eggs and pancakes. I was told at the front door that there might be a wait for counterspace, but within a few minutes a young man brought me back to a table for two, which was ideal, the perfect size. Fairly quickly, the waiter brought me a steaming, hot cup of coffee with a few of those little thimbles full of half-and-half, I don't know how they last without refrigeration, they must have a lot of preservatives mixed in with the half-and-half. Denny's restaurants are reminiscent of slightly larger diners from the 50s. I was interested in Denny's famous grand slam breakfast. The menu indicated the price is $11.19 and you can choose among a good number of items for your grand slam, and four of them are included in the quoted price. I chose two eggs, two crispy bacon slices, two pancakes and the waiter told me go ahead and take one more since four items are included so I had a side of link sausage. The wait was pretty long. I wasn't in a hurry. I had brought something to read, and the waiter did come back and fill my coffee and apologized for the delay, which was thumbs up for him for courtesy. FOOD: in a single word, disappointing. I was predicting the pancakes would be cool to the touch and they were the big bit of butter on the top had no chance of melting so I flipped the two pancakes over, hoping that the inside of the pancakes would give the butter a little bit of a melt. I never had pancakes that tasted quite so rigid, the pancakes actually tasted kind of cardboard consistency. This was new to me as they are expected to be a little bit fluffy, but these were not besides being cool to touch they were really not appetizing. The eggs were done nicely, and I pushed them over so they would be on top of the pancakes to drizzle down over the sides. The eggs were also disappointingly cool to the touch. I had one bit of the bacon and one bit of the sausage and left the other bits behind. SERVICE: I had a good waiter. I think this particular location is understaffed. That would account for the slow service of my breakfast, and I have the general idea that the waiter who served me had a great number of tables on his watch. He came by and took care of the coffee, but when it was time to leave, I had to get up to look for him to get my bill. AMBIANCE: very crowded. I have an idea this particular location is understaffed. People next to me said they were waiting for a table for nine people which I think is extreme. I don't know if they have seating for nine at Denny's. It wasn't especially noisy as I mentioned, it's kind of like an enlarged diner. SUMMARY: I guess, eating at Denny's is what you might describe as just OK. I prefer first watch, but I wasn't in the mood to drive that far and I was alone so I thought well today it will be Denny's. CHARGE: Including Tax the breakfast with coffee was a little over $15 and with tip it was $18 and change. I think $18 is a lot for one person, and $3.50 for a cup of coffee is really pushing it. If my wife had been with me this would've perhaps eclipsed $36 for two people for breakfast and that's really pretty extreme for a breakfast at Denny's. read more
