I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I placed Order #166542 for $40.90 around 10:30 p.m. and waited for over an hour for food that I never received. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but what I experienced was a complete lack of communication and customer service. After waiting for more than an hour, I finally got up and asked one of the younger servers how much longer my food would be. Her only response was that they had a large party in the back. Since it was already late at night, I never saw or heard a large party myself, so I have no way of knowing whether that was the reason for the delay. Regardless, if there was going to be such a long wait, customers should have been told when they placed their orders. That would have allowed me to decide whether to wait or go somewhere else. The employee who took my order accepted my payment and even accepted a tip, but after that, I never saw her again. No one came to check on me, provide an update, or apologize for the delay. Meanwhile, I watched employees greet and chat with customers they appeared to know while I sat there waiting to be acknowledged. When I finally told them I could no longer wait and asked for a refund, I was told that because I paid with a credit card, they could not refund me and that I would have to dispute the charge with my credit card company. That is unacceptable. If a customer never receives the food they paid for, the business should make it right. As someone traveling on Interstate 5, I know many truck drivers and travelers rely on restaurants like this because we're on tight schedules. Delays happen, but poor communication and refusing to issue a refund for food that was never served is simply not good customer service. I also regret leaving a tip. Tips should reward good service, and unfortunately, I received none. I hope management reviews its customer service practices and refund policy so future customers don't have the same experience. Based on what happened to me, I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

Ambiance was good and clean with TV's at the bar. Chicken Fried Steak breakfast was small, country gravy bland. Everything needed more salt and ketchup. Then again, it's Denny's. I stopped here one late night as I was staying nearby at the Holiday Inn Express, I drove around and there are not too many places to choose from and I got lucky to see the lights on and went inside and at the time there was only two other couples in there eating and so I sat down and got an iced tea and ordered up my late dinner. The food was prepared quickly and there was just one Lady working the place. When I googled to find a restaurant this place showed closed, but it wasn't. Update to my prior review. Came back today for breakfast. Their chicken fried steak is soggy because they didn't set it to dry after frying it or pat it down with a paper towel to get rid of the excess oil from cooking it. It kinda fell apart as I ate it. Not what I expect from this dish at a sit in restaurant. Two stars off for that. Kinda hard to get this dish wrong if you're a chef like I've been. You just fry it, dry it, and add the sauce. Also, they need to hire more front of house staff. Having one person working the entire dining room makes customers wait longer than they should. Star off for that. And now we're at the overall rating it has on Yelp two stars. My advice to the management would be to invest in your staff. If that means reducing menu items to lower costs then that would be wise if it's possible. Kinda disappointed as this is a 180 from my experience here in the past. read more

I decided to give this dumbfuk place another try. It's been about 2 to 2 and 1/2 years since I gave them my money. Used to pick up doordash orders here, and no other restaurant, did Ibhavent9 repeatedly cancel the order due to them not even having started make it yet. Never had to wait at any other restaurant ever longer more than I did at this particular denny's, usually 20 to 30 minutes and that's not what any doordasher is supposed to have to ever do. I've given them my money twice before and each time they screwed up my order or never even made it. Decided after a two and a half plus year hiatus, they must have improved and actually gotten proper management, but nope! Chose curbside because it's literally an option on their actual website, not through an alternative app or site, on the Denny's freaking website! They even so much as ask you the make model and color of your damned vehicle! Because I have a sprained ankle I decided to choose this option and it was literally the only reason I chose denny's, as there are no other options in this area and I was not going to choose a place where I had to walk on my ankle and risk injuring it even more. Never got a link or number to call and they have no parking spots marked for curbside so I simply parked in front and called their number three freaking times! On the third try they finally answered their damn phone and I told the lady I was waiting for curbside and gave her my name and car color and she said they don't do curbside LOL I laughed and told her it's on their actual Denny's website in addition to my order receipt it says curbside and she blabbed off a couple of words and then hung up. I stayed in my car assuming she would figure it out but no one ever came out. Went inside and stood there for far too long for some level of acknowledgment, and then was finally given my order. No explanation why they offer curbside on their website but they don't do curbside. They are just as stupid as the majority of the people who live in this area. We've enjoyed a lifetime of Denny's, for a restaurant of it's type. Our complaint is related to Corporate than with any franchise. The Country Fried Steak was $17.99 plus a .50 egg surcharge. The Grand Slam was $15.19, plus the .50 egg surcharge. Really...I mean really, just not worth the price at all. But it gets worse....the Country Fried "Steak"......is a "mystery meat" that is bad, really bad. It doesn't even come close to the other types of "mystery meats"....a huge fail there. I like how Michael S put it- its a Denny's, you either like it or you don't. I agree wholeheartedly. And for me- I like Denny's. You know basically what the menu is before you even go in there. You don't need to worry about what to order since it never changes and you'll always find something. Breakfast all day, coffee all night. It's not the best and we admit that. We don't expect that from a Denny's, especially one that's part of a Loves Truck Stop. Service is slow but kind- very nice- just don't expect anyone rushing to help you. I placed an order over the phone, she told me when to pick it up. I showed up and after waiting in the lobby/cashier line/right across from the gas station restrooms for about 10 minutes, she waved me over and checked me out. Sweetest girls that work there, I was just unsure of if I was waiting in the right place or not since no-one was at the counter and the man rolling utensils just looked over every minutes or so but didn't say a word. My burgers were huge! Like, so big for a Denny's! The salad was typical but missing red onions and I didn't get the side of mayo I requested but hey, whatever. I've been coming to these truck stops for decades meeting my parents and have eaten in all of them over 30 years. Eaten here at Dennys once 10 years ago. We came in around 10pm on a weeknight. There were a few waiting to be seated and 4 people already seated. We didn't wait more than 3 minutes to be seated. There appeared to be only one waitress who made sure we knew she didn't work on Wednesdays normally. Guess the menu is different that day I ordered the soup ( potato) and grilled cheese on the Senior Menu. The soup was a big bowl and it was pretty darn tasty. My husband ordered eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast. His plate and mine came out 15 minutes after I received my soup. The Cheese on my sandwich was plenty and 3 kinds. The toast on the sourdough was perfect. Problem was the cheese hadn't melted. Not even the slightest. U could say RAW. I nabbed the fast moving waitress and asked her have the cook put it back in the skillet for a few more minutes. My husband never received his toast and his runny eggs were drying up and he needed his toast. 6-7 minutes later the toast and my grilled cheese appear. His toast was perfect and my grilled cheese, still not melted at all. I wasn't waiting for the third time is a charm, I brought it home to grill it myself. Also, coffee is $4 and the cups have shrunk, again. We were told the coffee was fresh so we ordered 2 cups. It was hot, not fresh. We fixed it our way and dealt with it. Our coffee cups were empty pretty much all meal. Again, we flagged her down and got another 1/2 cup each. She ran out but would make more if we wanted her to. The people being seated would likely want some, we were through. We were also told that the numerous minor screw ups were due to the cooks having shift change. Wow, that's a new one. All in all, it wasn't bad but for $40.00 I expect better service. We may come back since we live in the next town. It's a Denny's - you either like it or you don't. I, for one, don't mind it. Reasonably priced, large portions, OK food (if you want great diner food you'd find a Black Bear Diner)... You get the point. This Denny's was a convenient location to stop for brunch and a break on the drive from Marin County to Mt. Shasta. It's attached to a Love's truck stop... quite different from the typical convenience store attached to a gas station down in the Bay Area. For what it's worth, the restrooms (shared with Love's) were clean, and I was pleasantly surprised that the stalls had actual walls and doors, not the regular stalls where you can watch people poop through the inch-wide cracks between the stall wall and the door. It wasn't super busy at this Denny's when we went, though it wasn't completely dead either. The people working here were friendly and the service was prompt, despite other reviews here stating it was slow. We got our order taken right away and the food came out reasonably quickly. Everything in the restaurant was clean and tidy - something you shouldn't take for granted at other Denny's locations. No complaints there. The food itself was fine. Again, when it comes to reviewing a large chain like this where the menu and ingredients are basically identical anywhere in the country, there's not a major point of reviewing the actual food. That said, I had the Double Berry Pancake Breakfast or something like that... about $12 including coffee. Reasonable. The short version: it's a fine Denny's, better than some I've been to, but nothing exceptional. I'd come again if I was passing through the area. read more

My wife and I came for a little 'breakfast date' after reading that the Brioche Bun and Sautéed Onions for the 'Build-Your-Own-Burger were Vegan. Great choice by the chain for making these Vegan. We were greeted warmly upon arrival, and seating in the clean, modern dining room area. Our drink prefer were both take fast and delivered fast...nice start. We did 'Build-Your-Own-Burgers' and we're excited about the dish. When it arrived, it don't disappoint. The sautéed onions were great inside, as was the Bourbon Sauce, the avocado, and the bun (all Vegan). They must have turned away so much business in the five minutes i was there. Being from Oregon I have a glorious grasp on the Denny's experience. Oregonians love their Denny's and are not afraid to scream and throw a tantrum if a particular Denny's does not meet their standards. Often you will see a full parking lot at one Denny's and a town just down the road with a empty Denny's parking lot. Denny's food is Denny's food. No more, no less. You simply look for it to be cooked well. Hot food hot, cold food cold, and no hair or bugs. You usually slip back again for the "Moons Over My Hammy" sandwich and pray that someday they will bring back that calorie buster beast of a breakfast sandwich "The Dagwood". Denny's is American fair. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. I have loved many a Denny's. Good food, decent prices, and a causally friendly staff. This Denny's not so much. This Denny's has a disoriented feel. Staff seemed confused and befuddled. Our waitress, Tammy was almost running to take care of us and her other patrons. She was friendly and personable. The restaurant was full enough for me to assume that they had a bus boy on staff, but they apparently did not. The hostess that helped seemed lost and confused, the manager did as well. They could not figure out how to process my check. We ordered some potato hashbrown bacon cheddar fritter things while we waited for our togo order. Yes, "things", a very strange menu item and not appetizing. Our waitress noticed that a few were completely smashed and messy so she had the cooks make us new ones. The only special thing about this Denny's was our waitress, Tammy, and she deserves those yelp stars. It's a Denny's I don't expect fine dinning quality but for the love of god they need a person to clean the parking lot and to just re freaking do the bathrooms.. Dennys are about the same: same menu prepared by formula in a kitchen with trained staff and delivered by waitresses and waiters who usually do their best. We have a favorite place in Patterson, California but we were in Corning California and it was after 10 and we needed food and it was across the street from our hotel ... in a truck stop. Service was efficient from a guy who had a late evening shift. Our food came from a familiar menu. It met standards we expect. Service was efficient: he wasn't excited to serve us but took our order, delivered our order and took our money with minimum effort from all concerned.
