It's genuinely incredible what they have here: vintage locks, door knobs, drawer pulls, cabinet handles and knobs, lighting accessories, claw feet for tubs, and so much more. I was in restoration heaven. I'm honestly impressed that I only walked away with a few Art Deco handles and a bourbon barrel stave from Pappy Van Winkle. And the prices? Completely reasonable and very competitive for authentic vintage pieces. I'm renting at the moment, but my husband and I are planning to purchase a home next year, and I'm already very much looking forward to revisiting Village Salvage when we do. I can only imagine how dangerous this place is going to be once I actually own a house. The service was also wonderful, and it's worth mentioning that Village Salvage has much more than restoration hardware. They carry handcrafted and locally made furniture that is truly gorgeous. We were told it would take 3 days to perform the service and that we had to pay in full prior to install. They gave us times they would be on our property to complete the service but did not inform us that the times provided were arrival windows. 2 out of 3 days they arrived 3-4 hours outside of the arrival windows. We were not informed they would be late, we had to call ourselves to ask where they were and when they would be coming. Did not receive return calls multiple times and had to call repeatedly to ask when they were coming. On both days we were given excuses of extreme medical emergencies. They ensured us this was not their typical standard of business. I understand emergencies happen, but I do not understand why they were not able to call us in a timely manner to inform us that they would be arriving well outside of the arrival window. On the 3rd day, the sink was to be reconnected to the plumbing. While connecting the sink, we were told $200 worth of additional work was needed to reconnect the sink to the pipes. I dropped the sink off at GNS several days before install and was told the sink would be compatible based on the size. No one inspected the pipes under the sink prior to install, and if they had they should have warned us of the possibility of additional costs outside of the balance we had already paid in full. The plumber also informed us that one of the sink holes had been cut too big for our water faucet by the men who installed the countertops and that they should have known how big to cut it. He had to do extra work to make the water faucet fit because of this, contributing to the extra plumbing cost. My husband went to discuss our frustrations with the owner and manager of the company. They were dismissive of our wasted time during the conversation and only agreed to pay for the plumbing costs. When asked why we should pay full price when they admitted the service was not completed to their normal standards, they refused a refund and told my husband to post a bad review and that they didn't care if he did. Their best response was repeatedly asking, but the countertops look great right?? They had no remorse for our wasted time including being late to appointments and work to be present during their installation that was hours outside of the provided times. Only offered to reschedule after the counters and plumbing were disconnected and removed and after being informed they were 15 minutes away to place the new countertops anyway. Rescheduling would have meant several more days without water in the kitchen and gaping holes from the missing countertops. I would also argue that 5 hours outside of the arrival window time is already rescheduling. They repeatedly claimed to be the best in the business during our conversation and bragged of having the best products. They accused us of not being understanding rather than taking responsibility for providing poor customer service. They additionally accused us of wasting their time because the sink was not dropped off on the day we told them we were planning to. We attempted to drop off the sink on the agreed upon day but waited for 15 minutes in the store without anyone coming to collect the sink. When the manager was informed of this, he said he would have to check to cameras to ensure this was truthful. Regardless, the sink was dropped off several days prior to install, not sure how that is considered wasted time compared to being several hours late 2/3 days with no notice. Good business includes good customer service and not simply good products. They do not care for their customers' time or their reputation outside of their products. Very disappointed.
