Within 90 minutes, two guys from Dennys came and were able to tow both the truck and the U-Haul trailer. Both were extremely friendly, and told us about the history of the region on our way back into Ely. Once we got into town, they were nice enough to let us leave the U-haul trailer overnight for safety. Breaking down in a remote area is always stressful, but we were so grateful for the excellent service we received from Denny's.

Troy diagnosed it to be a faulty fuel pump housing that leaked fuel and did not allow enough fuel pressure to start the engine. He ordered the new parts for over night deliver. He installed the new housing and new fuel filter the next morning. The engine started and we were on our way. Troy is an Excellent diesel mechanic! TRUCK DRIVERS BEWARE!…read more This repair service gets you over a barrel and leaves you BROKE! Troy, I believe is not just the owner, but a crook!! I have been a heavy haul driver for 35 years. I have never in my career delt with such an unprofessional and crooked as hell individual. I blew my transmission on the road, and he was my only option. He quoted a transmission for $7700.00 and got a shop rate of $155/hr. I ordered a transmission instead, for $4700.00 new rebuild, and had it delivered in 2 days. Troy was not happy that I didn't purchase his grossly over-priced product. For an R&R (remove & replace) shop time is expected to be 8-10 hrs. I spent 7 nights in a hotel, at $100/night waiting for my truck to be fixed. At end of day 7, the shop called me to inform me that my truck was finally ready. Upon arrival, I was presented with a $2600.00 bill for shop time. 16 hrs! In all reality that is enough time to do an R&R on 2 trucks. This man had no other trucks or vehicles ahead of me for 7 days. The reason is DEFINITELY CLEAR! Locals had nothing positive to say about this man, or his business. Now, back on the road, with a bad vibration, and brand new rear transmission seal leaking. Not only that, but U joints have pieces missing. BEWARE! ​

On our way to Yucca, AZ the last few days of Jan 2022, our transmission went out in our Dodge diesel truck about 79 miles north of Ely, NV. We got a tow to Ely and the tow driver told us the best mechanic in town was Cruise In Auto repair. We didn't have much choice. One mechanic insisted the problem was the transfer case and ordered a new one. When the shop manager got back from time off, he checked it out and said not the transfer case, it needs a new transmission. A brand new transmission was ordered from salt lake and we waited 6 weeks for that to get to Ely. Before installation, I mentioned to Dan at cruise in that the coolers need to be checked and replaced if they're no good I was told oh no, we checked those and they're fine. $6k later we finally got the truck back and home to Montana. The truck doesn't get a lot of use at home, but we used it to come back to yucca in Jan 2023. The first few days of April we packed up and left for home. About 15 miles northwest of Kingman, the truck stopped shifting. The transmission was burned up after only 4000 miles. A new transmission had to be ordered and is being installed today at a VERY reputable shop in Kingman. Turns out that BOTH coolers are completely plugged and were not properly flushed and cleaned at the time of installing the transmission a year ago in Ely. So we're waiting for new coolers and transmission to be installed. The Ely shop says they did flush the coolers by "using a couple cans" of cleaner, which is ineffective. They don't have the equipment to do it the right way. That caused the new transmission to fail We would have been better off paying a few thousand to get towed all the way to Vegas or Kingman last year. Would have been cheaper in the long run if that had even been an option.
