I purchased an HVAC system from Green Street HVAC nearly three years ago for about $18,000--paying…read morealmost $10,000 more than an alternate (unlicensed) quote--only because I was assured parts and labor would be covered and the company would stand behind the install. During a cold front, I requested service (Ref: Estimate #20631848) and asked for basic documentation (contract copy, warranty registration, and a fully itemized estimate with OEM part numbers/MSRP and labor breakdown). The estimate came back over $3,000, with ~$1,700 just for the part, and included a line labeled "Band-Aid." After consulting Service, Inc. (Nashville) and Hiller, I learned "Band-Aid" can function as open-ended billing--i.e., "whatever it takes" after the part is installed, with no clear cap. To verify, I had Service, Inc. review the job. They confirmed in writing that:    *   The part is fully covered under the manufacturer's warranty ($0 to me), and    *   The install is about a 1-hour job, with a labor quote less than half of Green Street's total. In plain terms:    *   I paid a premium (~$18k), nearly $10k more than another bid, for peace of mind (parts + labor assurances).    *   Before a storm, I asked for help and transparency.    *   Green Street quoted $3,000+, including $1,700 for a warranty part that should be $0.    *   Their estimate used "Band-Aid," flagged by two licensed contractors as open-ended/uncapped language.    *   Service, Inc. honored the warranty ($0 part) and quoted a clear, fair price for ~1 hour of work. I support local businesses that do right by their customers--especially when families are relying on heat in bad weather. My experience with Green Street HVAC was unresponsive, non-transparent, and inconsistent with what was promised. If you're considering them, insist--in writing--on:    *   Proof of manufacturer warranty registration (model/serial + confirmation),    *   Written parts coverage terms (what's $0 under warranty), and    *   A fully itemized estimate (OEM part numbers, MSRP/list, exact labor hours & rate; avoid vague "Band-Aid" codes). Date of service request: 10/25 Estimate: #20631848 TL;DR: Green Street quoted $3,000+, including $1,700 for a warranty part and an open-ended "Band-Aid" line. Service, Inc. (Nashville) confirmed the part is $0 under warranty and the job is ~1 hour, at less than half of Green Street's total.

I'd recommend Mainstream to anyone who needs HVAC work done!! And ask for Larry! He is the bomb!

Their employees lack the training, skills, and company support to do their jobs. My system was recently completed and this morning it failed. The reason is it failed was it was not installed correctly. The owner will come on here and try and blame me for all the issues and you're free to figure out who's lying and who's telling the truth? And if you want to talk to me or see the horrific job they did please feel free to contact me. This company did a horrible job and has no clue what customer service means or customer satisfaction. Looks very much like they're going out of business so please do your diligence before signing a contract with Mainstream. Darryl Pater (owner of Mainstream) will respond to this and tell you this was all my fault. Believe who you will but his word is worthless and his moral compass seems broken. Frank Stewart is the only employee he has that is a man of his word and actually cares about the customer. I support small businesses wholeheartedly but this guy doesn't deserve to be in business any longer

I looked up their website and their website is near identical to A-1 Heating & Cooling - which had me concerned, concerned that they were owned by the same people. If that is the case, I couldn't tell because the lady who answered the phone her mannerism and approach is a lot more down to earth and personable - in a way Southern. I explained to her the situation about me looking for a second quote and my HVAC being under warranty - she wrote a few things down and told me she would call me back. She called me back minutes later and stated that someone could come out there within the next hour as they are finishing up a job near me to assess. I was surprised to hear same day service and it was already 11AM. Before he even came out - she even gave me the total labor cost to install it - if the item I needed to have replaced was the correct one. I called numerous places, and none of them would give me any type of quote over the phone. Other places told me everything from 'No one is here to do that' to 'We would need someone out there before you receive any quote since it's a repair.' I feel like she has some authority when it comes to the business, and that is always a plus. But, he came out there less than an hour later, diagnosed it, ordered parts from Nashville, and showed up the next morning to install it. Didn't try any pressuring sales tactics to upsell me any type of warranty or maintenance plan. The only thing they should get is one of those Square devices, so that they can take debit/credit cards via phone/tablets instead of over the phone.

The initial two technicians who came were very nice, very honest and gave us a fair price for the repair. All that remained was for a person to come and complete the tile work. We were promised and set up an appointment days in advance to have the technician come at 8 AM. I received a call about 10 AM saying they had had a problem with the truck and had to take it back for repair. Understandable. However, at 1 PM still no one had come and no one had called. When my wife called to check, someone said that they had come to the gate of our gated community and did not receive any notice so they went away. They did not try to call me, the gate automatically caused my phone. Being in the hospital, I had nothing to do but answer a phone.. They did not try to call my wife. I am in the hospital having to deal with this stress. I had canceled my subscription with Lee Company once before, due to a concern over high pricing of parts that could be found at 1/3 the price.. This company, and these technicians knew of the predicament my wife and I were in. They did little to make things right. Consequently, the technician is now supposed to come the next day. Never mind that my wife had rearranged her life so that she could come tend to me at the hospital but other things as well so that she could be present when they arrived. This is typical of a fly-by-night company not someone with the reputation that Lee Company supposedly enjoys. Even if you reconfirm appointments, sometimes they don't come and they don't call.

Like many have said, the very next day he was at my house and had us back in heat within 20 minutes. Mr. Green is incredibly experienced & knowledgeable and took the time to explain details to me that were even outside the scope of his repair. I should have refused that particular unit, but I trusted David Green. The unit was defective from day one. In six years, we had the unit fail four times. Every single repair required three or four calls to David Green before he would even return my calls. The final failure last fall resulted in David Green telling us that the compressor had to be replaced. I did not hear from him for three months. When I finally reached him, he told me that I should call the manufacturer for relief. Because David Green did no register the unit, the warrantied vas voided. He never told me that I has to register the unit. When anyone purchases a major item such as a car or an HVAC system, the seller/installer registers the unit AND THIS IS WHAT DAVID GREEN implied when he told me it was covered. Can you imagine taking your car back to the dealer and being told that they didn't design the car, they only sold it. This is a ludicrous argument. I have a bill of sale that DAVID GREEN gave me and it shows a ten year warranty, and there is no mention ANYWHERE that I had to register the unit. The reputable HVAC company that is replacing the unit has told me that ANY reputable company registers units that they install with the manufacturer. This event was not 'out of our control' as David Green suggests.
