Robin is the woman when it comes to perfectly shaped eyebrows (it's about $30 for a waxing / tweezing combo). I usually groom my own to save a little dough, but I stop in a few times a year to get perfectly-framed arches before a big event. Robin is also very personable and sweet, not to mention well-qualified (she studied with Dr. Murad, whose skin-saving products fly off the racks at Sephora). I hear she's even better with facials, and they also offer massages (I could go for either at the moment :-) and waxing almost anywhere you can imagine -- for men and women. It's all a pretty-penny, but this is one A-list experience worth the indulgence. I do try to tweeze em myself but I felt it was time to have them professionally done. I searched on Citysearch to see who was voted the best 'brow shaper' for 2007 and voila! Robin Evans was the winner and so, I immediately called to make an appointment! I was able to book at appointment with Gina easily the day I called. It's in a non-descript building smack in Soho. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by a pleasant receptionist. I was about 10minutes early for my brow shaping appointment but Gina was able to see me right away. She walked me into a small room and asked me to hang up my coat and to lay down for her to look at my brows. Gina asked me to relax and asked me how I would like my brows done. She gave me her opinion which I went with. The wax didn't hurt as much as I expected and Gina followed up with some tweezing to shape and clean my brows. It was over in about 15 minutes and my brows look great! The walls are thin and so I could hear the conversation of a client having a facial done. It's not your usual hush-hush type of spa that has a Zen like feel and mood music playing in the background. I do plan to come back because the price is reasonable and I am happy w/my newly shaped brows.

So, my sister and I made an appointment with Louanna AND she would come to us, which was a plus. Louanna showed up with all her makeup and brushes and stuff and was extremely personable. We brought our own makeup so she could see what we were using. She went over with each of us, each component of putting on makeup....from what lotions we should use on our face and eyes, foundation, concealers, bronzers, what color blush we should be using and lip and eye colors that work for our skin types. What I thought was great was that she wasn't a product peddler.....she worked with what we had and gave suggestions on products and color schemes to buy if we didn't have a specific color. And what brushes to use for eyeshadow. I also liked how she took the time with EACH of us to go over what products and colors to use for our specific skin types/coloring....it wasn't just an overview for both of us and we had to guess what to use. We were just getting a "lesson", but she actually helped us put makeup on our faces. I had nothing on, so she applied concealer to my face....then showed me how to put makeup on one of my eyes by doing it herself, then having me do the other so I could do it in front of her, just incase I needed help. This way our faces were done when she left and we looked beautiful! And again, she looked through our eyeshadows to find the perfect shade for our eyes and how to apply it.
