Billy is a tremendous barber with unmatched skill. I find his prices reasonable at $45 a cut and $60 for added design work. He is extremely LGBTQ friendly and has created a gender neutral hair salon environment (something needed which is all too often overlooked). A few minor complaints which I am sure will be resolved: location is hard to find, the salon sits inside a building with multiple doors, I had to contact Billy for instructions to enter. No front desk reception at this point, so not the easiest to schedule. Lastly, Billy is very detail oriented and all of my haircuts have taken a long time in addition I often usually have to wait because the person ahead of me is not finished. Billy is aware of this issue and extremely apologetic.

I had never gotten my hair done there but always saw a bunch of customers coming out looking fresh and the energy seemed genuine and positive. (I also know of a couple of people who spoke highly of the salon). I've purchased a few things for friends and family from the store and they loved it. Fast forward to now. I had let my locs go and was in need of some professional hands in my hair. While searching online for a black owned salon that specializes in natural hair, Duafe continued to pop in my search. I scheduled a hair consultation and was able to get in the following week for the consult and scheduled to have my hair done the following week after that. I was so relaxed having my hair washed and although the tea tree opened all of my sinuses, it felt really good on my scalp. I was sent emails regarding changes in policy, COVID waiver etc. Everyone is masked up and I've noticed them wiping down chairs, step stools, mirrors etc for everyone's safety. It's a no brained that I'll be returning. Great customer service, friendly, professional while being chill/lax. And I love my hair. Glad I've found a place for my hair to get pampered.

I am a Hockessin resident and get my hair cut at Hockessin Barbershop about every other month. This…read moreshop is the the kind of place you envision in your mind when you think of a small town barbershop. I gather lots of local and not so local police officers and firefighters come here for cuts. The client is young and old, though mostly male. The atmosphere is friendly and owner Eddie is always smiling and seems eager to provide good cuts, and good conversation at a fair price. At $16 bucks for a standard cut as of 11/20/14 this seems like a pretty standard rate and if you are a burly man rockin' a beard this includes a trim up of your facial hair, not a bad deal. This is not a wash and dry establishment but a straight forward no nonsense place to get your haircut. If I was to have one complaint it would be that the shop is showing its age, it was recently repainted but could use a little more of a refresh, but then again its a traditional barbershop and is not pretending to be a day spa or salon and the work stations and tools in the barbers hands are in good shape and otherwise orderly so this is merely a minor aesthetic observation. It is one worth noting though as their is local competition and perception is a reality for many customers whose first impressions are very impactful. It is also worth pointing out that this shop is not often very crowded so wait time is generally minimal and the barbers seem open and attentive to the customers direction, though my personal experience opinion on their skill is limited as I am simple "#1 all around and fade the neck" type of guy. Hockessin Barbershop is worth a look if you've never been and value supporting local small businesses and are looking for a quality cut from some quality people at a fair price.
