I booked Riu kukulkun for me and my sister. Mine a suite , hers a junior suite. Both with "ocean view ". Hers did in fact have a beautiful view, mine on the 1st floor had a view of concrete. Mine was 600$ more. I asked for and received a junior suite, only after signing a waiver stating that I accepted the downgrade. I tried to get the 600$ difference from Delta vacation, who refused because the hotel wouldn't refund the difference. Yes it was the hotels substandard room, but is was delta vacations I had paid 7000$ for this trip. Delta vacations sent an apology email and a coupon for 150$ off my next such trip. I'll start off by saying I am a loyal delta customer, a platinum medallion member and exclusive delta flyer for 10 years. This was my first time using Delta Vacations (and last!). The customer service is horrendous, which is a shock given Delta's customer service has always been great to me. I booked a trip that needed to be cut short for a family emergency. I wasn't able to rebook my flight through the app, and I had to go through customer service to find a new flight, which took multiple attempts at correspondence. When I went to check out of the hotel, the hotel told me that although I had already paid Delta Vacations for the flight + hotel package, Delta Vacations had not paid the hotel yet, so it shouldn't be a problem getting a refund for the two nights I had not stayed. After multiple calls to the Delta Vacations customer service desk and a month + later, I have yet to hear any update on that refund. The Delta Vacations rep told me that the hotel was wrong, that they pay the hotel upfront and need to request a refund from the hotel. Ultimately, I feel cheated and scammed from a company I have put a lot of trust in over the years. The service is inflexible and opaque, and the representatives are not helpful! Avoid at all costs. I am a Diamond Medallion member with Delta and the customer service with Delta Vacations is absolutely atrocious. My car reservation was not honored, leaving me stranded at an airport 4 hours from a wedding I was meant to attend with no public transport options. I was forced to rent a car from a different provider at the airport desk. I was assured by Delta Vacations that they would cover the difference in cost, but after six months of submitting receipts over and over again and talking to people on the phone and the chatline I have been forced to resort to legal action. I called Delta Cruise because the price of a cruise I booked with them had gone down. The person on the phone could not locate the cruise on the company system. She got Royal on the phone, who could see the booking but she could not locate it in the Delta Cruise system. The next day, she called back and said she found the booking, but the price had gone back up and would not honor the price from the prior day, even though it was her fault for not changing the price when the price had dropped--terrible customer service. read more

Never book with Delta Vacations unless you want to be robbed. I booked a trip for my parents, however my mother's cancer came out of remission so they could not go. I contacted Delta, they cancelled with credits. Problem is they issued the credits in my parents name, even though I booked with my skymiles # and my skymiles AMEX. They refuse to transfer the credits, my parents will not be able to use the credits. So Delta Vacations just robbed me of my money. Booked a flight+hotel via Delta Vacations. The website lacked clear language about cancellation penalties, and I was led to believe I'd get my money back if I canceled immediately. We canceled just one day after booking but only received a partial refund; the rest was in $200 travel certificates per person. Even with months before travel, they would not refund fully. Delta Vacations is not ready for primetime. You can get great hotel prices, that's why I give them any stars at all, but the site is just not up to modern standards. Specifically, you can't look at date ranges in order to find the best prices, you can't select multiple airports in a larger city like you can on the Delta website, and you can't apply upgrade certificates yourself or even see which flights have upgrade availability. Further, there is very very little in the way of vacation suggestions. Not much help if you have 5 days and need ideas. They show you 6 or 8 ideas under a limited number of categories, but where are all the other options? And what about a map of where Delta Vacations can take you? Also, there is no special phone line for medallion members. And the phone agents, while very nice, are not able to give you any suggestions. They can just book based on what you yourself could see anyway on the website. Though you do have to call them to apply an upgrade certificate. read more

I often use Delta Vacations. In the past they've beaten me doing my own research for example, looking up to Fare finding a hotel finding the ultimate deal. SOMETIMES! Most of us are adults and understand if something is too good to be true ? it probably is. The staff on the 800 number and the hotels transportation, etc. is usually a good bet. So if I plan 10 trips , maybe one is a Delta Vacation. I do have to go look at the fair figure out if it's a good deal. At least I know they're honest and there isn't any extra charge that sneaks in at the end when you show up at the hotel and all the sudden tax and hotel fees are not included . read more

I am a platinum Delta member and so is my wife. We tried using Delta vacations because of the many promises they say they are committed to in providing an incredible service while still saving a little bit of money because really you don't save that much. I have to admit that I was beyond disappointed that not only has this package botched up at the very beginning and at the very end. Neither one a great way to start to end a vacation. First of all when we reserved this vacation back in November all of a sudden, at the beginning of January I received a notification out of nowhere that my vacation been canceled. not knowing the reason I called and apparently they told me that it was a system error so I had to spend a few hours on the phone waiting for them to get it fixed. As we are a group of five, they only fixed four of us, but one of the information was completely wrong. My wife had to jump on the phone for another 2+ hours to try to get that fixed. A week after all of this had been, or so I had hoped, I double checked by going into the app to make sure everything was good and now another one of the passengers information was wrong so we had to get for a couple of hours to get that fixed. I could not understand why we had to be on the phone so long every time we called. Anyway, I was completely stressed out up until the day of the flight because when we had to check in, we couldn't do that through the app because it could not find our flight information. Yeah, you've heard that right after everything we did. they could not find our flight information to issue our tickets. We were finally able to figure it out on our own because could help us and we got our tickets in the most odd way that I've never seen before where they were links to each individual ticket, but we could not save it on our phone send it to each member. Anyway, after that things more or less settled out, although our flight was delayed about an hour to get here and now that we left, our flight again was delayed an hour. But the real problem was trying to get through to the company that was supposed to take us to the airport. We were supposed to call to confirm and we did for the past two days, but no one ever answered the phone. so we couldn't confirm and because Delta delayed our flight one hour we were also trying to figure out if our transportation had also changed accordingly as one would expect,, just common courtesy. Well, we could never find out so we had to call Delta and guess what again we were on the phone for about an and 15 minutes trying to figure it out. Delta, of course, was not able to resolve any of our issues. So we were never able to connect with the company that is supposed to take us to the airport. so in the we had to find our own transportation spending our own money. We clearly asked Delta if they would reimburse us and they told us no. They said either try to make it or forfeit the travel. They were not able to resolve for us, confirming the departure time of our taxi to the airport. So what am I supposed to do leave it up to chance and hope that these guys show up the same ones that never answered the phone for the past two days? I think not. so, thank you Delta vacations for an absolutely terrible experience. The only thing you Delta had to do was take care of the beginning of the vacation and the end of the vacation and that is exactly what you ruined our vacation. My late wife owned a travel agency and she used Delta Vacations for her clients. It was great back then (pre-2019). Since COVID however, DV has gone down hill. Let me give you some good reasons NOT to use them anymore... 1) Their "5 star" resorts are actually run down and not even a "2 star". Without going into names, the resort they put us in had old on the outside, the public bathroom was filthy, the lobby smelled like urine and they had a dog bed in the concierges office. We never checked in, we called to cancel with delta vacations. 2) Cancelling with DV is a pain. Even though the hotel may have a fair cancellation policy, you must use DVs policy that DOES NOT guarantee you a refund. Their refunds are totally different than the hotels. Booking yourself is much more secure for cancellations. 3) You will NOT get your VIP miles or awards when booking cars and hotels with DV. They are a 3rd party company so hotel & car loyalty programs no longer get applied. 4) Their insurance is horrible. Better off using American Express insurance. DVs travel insurance does NOT cover you to cancel due to any reason. It is either health or death and you must have proof to get it. Expect delays for any refund. 5) DV does NOT itemize prices on anything. They lump the entire vacation into one price so no way to tell if you are getting a good deal at a hotel, car or on a flight and if you get a refund, no way to tell if you got the entire refund. 6) Vendors will bill your card instead of DV. So if you do not keep a very close eye on your CC statement you could be billed twice for the same service or hotel. This happened to me twice, luckily I check my AE daily. 7) DV has NOTHING to do with Delta airlines. They are a partner company and in no way owned by Delta airlines. You will still need to book your seat with Delta airlines directly, DV will NOT do it for you like a typical travel agent. My wife and I had seats on different rows since DV does not furnish you a seat assignment. In conclusion, you are much better off booking your own travel. You can look up reviews of hotels and price airlines without being put into just what DV has to offer. We found much nicer hotels that do not do biz with DV than the "dog kennels" DV claimed to be "5 star". I hope I saved someone the same pain we recently experienced. Never again will I use Delta vacations and I will start shopping my airlines too. Delta has become a woke company with old, cranking employees that seem to have forgotten who pays their salary. NEVER USE DELTA VACATIONS!!!! - They screwed me out of nearly 500 dollars today since the people I had to visit had Covid. They have THE WORST cancellation scenario in the business and are separate from Delta. What is worse is the part that they give you back from the massive penalty is only suitable for DELTA VACATION. We had some we were going to visit that had COVID-19 and plans changed - however, the penalties are massive!!!!! My recent 3 day trip to NYC was my first Delta Vacation package. The hotel, billed as a Curio Collection from Hilton, looked good online. Disaster and it should be removed from the choice list. shrouded in scaffolding (never told), $40 per day destination charge (never told), upsold room for an additional $40 per night plus plus because the chosen room was the size of a closet. No glassware allowed in room - the restuarant's dine-in menu was 1/5 the regular menu - $88 dinner deliver in a brown paper bag, no tray, plastic utensils, plastic cup for nice glass of $18 wine. Restaurant blamed the hotel and vice versa. Restaurant is not owned by the hotel. What BS. We have another package upcoming in two weeks to Paris. I'm so terrified it will be horrible. The agent who helped me set this up was fantastic. She got the flights we wanted, seats, etc. Then Delta changed the flights. Now we are on a less desirable schedule and much less desirable seats. I've seen tons of reviews. Our vacation was almost excellent. The only issue was not totally Delta's fault because it was weather related. However, if you want people to entrust their entire vacations to you, there needs to be a plan and expedited help in cases of inclement weather. Their help and response was much less than desirable. I had to work with a Delta agent (not Delta Vacations agent, they were worthless) to salvage my vacation when a Delta agent and a Delta Vacations should have worked together to make it happen. Worst travel agency ever. I booked my vacations to Argentina, including tours and airport/hotel transportation. I was not picked up at the airport by the agency they hired, one of the two tours that I booked was canceled and I with no advance notification. The other tour was not as describe (not even close). The transportation company hired to take me back to the airport arrived 2 hours late (I almost lost my flight back). I called Custumer Care and after all these terrible inconveniences they offered a ridiculous low reimbursement because of the inconveniences. I made some changes to our trip and cancelled a hotel stay and replaced it with another at least three weeks in advance. i then got a notification from American Express that I had a charge for two rooms in the hotel that I cancelled. The hotel says they can't help because I used Expedia and they don't see that it's cancelled. I had no idea Delta consolidated through Expedia. After I spent the majority of my vacation trying to rectify the situation, I end up with an email saying they're sorry, they can't get the hotel to "change my dates" and therefore there's nothing they can do. this was after they asked me for documentation of my "claim". I thought I would get Delta style customer service, but this is the worst! Never again!!!! Don't do it! read more

Never. Ever. Again. Just staggering home from a grueling 36 hour nightmare thanks to these folks, where I spent twice the amount of time traveling as I did at the resort. Kudos where it's due: I am a long time fan of Delta, which is why I thought to trust this side of their business. And the reps I spoke to were unfailingly lovely, patient, supportive, and at least seemingly informed. When I could get through to them, which was rare. All I wanted was four days away from NYC's winter grim: nothing shmancy, just warm sand and ocean, maybe some wellness features, and most importantly, QUIET. DV suggested the Dominican Republic, which I agreed to in their recommendation. Round 1: Delta cancels my outbound flight, and reschedules me two days later not on the direct but on an 18 hour one stop through Atlanta. Across countless phone calls and texts, I actually managed to get in the following days nonstop. DV was unable to get confirmation from the confirmed resort that they would or could accommodate my dates, so by the time their line was shutting down for the day, I was forced to cancel the whole trip. Round 2: I try for another resort. DV makes a new suggestion but advises delaying two days will significantly reduce the overall price. Fine. The Excellence El Carmen is NOT a 5 star property, I don't care who is getting bribed to reconfigure these designations. It's a nice 3.5. The room was frayed, the mattress concrete, the food passable, the booze bargain basement . The biggest shocker was the deafening outdoor concert that began at 7pm till 11:30, making my room shake. Turns out this is a daily event, 365 a year. Calls to the front desk went unanswered. I finally had to make the trek in person to plead for mercy. The palapbly annoyed concierge kids insisted that a room change would not improve the situation, nor probably a hotel change, since every resort on Punta Cana holds similar noisemakers. Whether this was just a ruse to not lose my business, I can't say. Wi-Fi at the hotel was so spotty I couldn't get through to any department at Delta. I finally had to sleep on the beach till about 2am until the property was quiet enough to go back to my room. Checked out the next day. Never, ever, again. I don't know how long DV has been in business, but I wouldn't trust them with a bus ride. Now to begin the battle of getting refunded. read more

This is a horror, but the real horror is knowing I didn't actually have a ticket. Even when I had confirmation of my flight. My daughter and I could have shown up to a trip of a lifetime and be told we couldn't board the plan. Our ticket was never processed. Even though the flight showed on my app and I had email confirmation. Thank God I called to confirm. We had to change our flight from Dec to Feb. my travel companion and I have linked tickets. She booked on Delta.com I booked through Delta Vacations. When changing my friends on Delta they said they could change mine too. I had to pay an additional fee of $322. This was fine and we changed it. I had a receipt emailed to me as confirmation. It listed my new flights. I am attaching a copy of the confirmation. Luckily or unluckily we didn't like our return flight connections. We contacted the agent again through delta messenger. They said no problem and changed our flights to Mar 2 instead of Mar 1. We spent time getting time and adjusting work vacation. When we went to select our seats this flight number still showed a return of Mar 1. I spent an hour on hold to be told my confirmation was not valid. Actually, I was not able to change from Dec to Feb. I would be charged an additional $1,000. And forfeit the money already paid. At this point I started to cry. My agent said she would see what she could do. Put me on hold forever. Then came back and said, " your not going to like what I have to tell you" - click, we were disconnected and I had to call back again. Eventually I got to the agent who was able to change everything for a fee of another $200+ dollars. At this point I was hysterical and taking time off from my job. I just paid to get it over with. From Sunday to Wednesday I think I contacted you 7 times. I have lost time from work. Received confirmations and realized I could have showed up to my flight and not actually had a ticket. For either myself or my daughter. I am generally a calm person but I am still shaking from my experience with Delta and Delta vacations. Thank you for reading to the end. read more

We booked Majestic Mirage resort in Punta Cana in March of 2022 and ended up staying in Majestic Colonial. Walking back and forth to eat at Mirage, spend time with our relatives and sleep at Colonial. A 15-minute walk with a toddler. I think if an investigation is done you will discover the differences between the two resorts. There is not enough space to share the details. They suck I would never use them Again. They hid the fact that the flights were on WestJet instead of Delta then they did not let us pick our seats until 24 hours from departure. Then we had to call WestJet to get our seats and pay for them. Delta got the gate wrong also. DV is a separate travel company and do very little and will tell you the wrong info. Very under handed company. I will never take another flight with a airline that says one of my planes are operated by another airlines. I will book with that airline.
