Idk how this place got such great reviews on Google, but I'm here to say IT AINT TRUE! My hubby and…read moreI were referred to this place by a Wellstar rep to help with our injuries after our car accident. I only attended 3 appointments because I was already suspicious by the 1st visit, but my hubby did PT for about 6 sessions. Now when we first attended, we agreed that the bills would be paid through our settlement (this was on 7/26). The NP that assisted me (Reeves Henderson) came in, and I already knew she wasn't really hearing what I had to say. She did agree to write me a script for pain pills, but when I went to check out, the receptionist didn't mention the script. I ask why when that was agreed to about 10 minutes ago. She asks Reeves, returns, and says she isn't going to write anything until I complete my MRI, so the pills received from the hospital should tie me over until then. I get my MRI, then return 2 days later. Reeves tells me she doesn't know what's going on with me, and I should return to my place of referral for a 2nd opinion, BUT....she'll discuss this with our colleague and report back. 20 minutes later, I hear her in the next room with another patient. The nurse goes over my STD paperwork and sends me to the front to check out. I was then not only asked when am I starting my PT (which was new news), but...the doc isn't gonna write me a script for pain meds. Although upset, I keep my cool and tell the receptionist this is what the doc agreed to, so it's dirty that Reeves is wanting the ladies at the front office to do their dirty work. I then decline to PT to seek a 2nd option. She did send in a script, but I was too turned off to care to return. I then seek services at Wellstar My hubby's first round of PT lasted 10 minutes. He basically got a massage and a warm compress. This is pretty much the same treatment he received for his next few sessions. When he complained they weren't helping, he was told to inform the "doctor" so they can do an MRI. Upon checking out, they (again) try to offer more sessions of PT. When he tries to decline over the phone, they (essentially) tell him he'll need to come up and sign paperwork. When he gets there, they tell him if he does this, they won't be able to complete his paperwork AND will mark his case as resolved (so basically....using his FMLA/STD as leverage). He goes for the MRI and Reeves provides DANG NEAR the same diagnosis she gave to me (although we were injured in different places). Not only that, but her suggestion is spine injections (steroids) which is the very thing I declined too! Because we agreed to give it a try, they submit his paperwork for job protection. When I reviewed the form for the procedure, I noticed there is a notice at the bottom stating if he cancels 5 days or sooner prior to the procedure, there's a $5,000 cancelation fee. I immediately demand he calls and cancel any further treatments from AICA. Our car insurance policy offers 5K per person for medical payments, right? We received copies of those invoices (because AICA wasn't sending them - as requested 3xs...even filled out a medical info request) and I see AICA has tried overcharging on all services. They tried to bill so many unnecessary charges that our car insurance was declining the original billing with the medical code (to justify) at the bottom. We haven't seen AICA in well over 2 MONTHS and we are STILL getting invoices where they're trying to collect payment. The entire reason for this explanation is because I get exactly what they are doing; they recommend you pay for their "treatments" from your settlement because YOU CAN'T DISPUTE THE PRICING! And once you agree to that, they will NOT redirect billing even after asking (verbally and/or written). Please take heed to this warning and STAY AWAY! The ladies at the front and the nurses are nice, but the concept and Reeves were DEAL BREAKERS! If you do allow them to treat, DO NOT allow them to refer you to an attorney OR use your settlement as payment or you may not see a DIME!

if you get into a car, accident, don't come here because if you don't even know anything about the…read moremedical system, they're gonna run up your bill and give you unnecessary treatment and not listen to you so any other orthopedics would probably be your best bet . Front desk staff is nice.

Atlanta Arthroscopy & Joint Replacement

Atlanta Arthroscopy & Joint Replacement

Dr. Michael J. Morrison is a 'Orthopaedic Surgeon & Joint Replacement Specialist' and I had the…read morepleasure of meeting him today. THE BACKGROUND (skip ahead if you hate long reviews): I called Wellstar Urgent Care on Cooper Lake (i have an established patient history with them) and was told I could get an x-ray, but none of their doctors offered cortisone injections. Just injections in the muscle for pain (not inflammation). I called Wellstreet Urgent care (I'd been there once previously right after they opened - and they are closer to my home) and turns out their x-ray machine was broken! :0( So then I called Wellstar Urgent Care on Atlanta Rd (the new facility - a little further away than Cooper Lake) and I was given some clarification: apparently NO hospital or urgent care doctor can legally give joint injections anymore. It has to be done by an orthopedic specialist. So I decided to try Resurgens East West Connector / Mesa Valley Way location. After not being able to speak to a live person at Resurgens (the system kept telling me to select 3 to schedule- or just hold the line for help - and neither action netted a live person - just a repeated greeting - or the ubiquitous robotic 'Are you still there?' - then silence - then hanging up on me) - I finally decided to bite the bullet and drive to the durable medical equipment place on Austell Rd (Physician's Pharmacy). I was in excruciating pain - and I was well into Week 5 of this pain - so I figured I would purchase a knee brace (since none of the ones I purchased on Amazon worked out). At Physician's Pharmacy - I ran into the same problem I experienced with the cheapie Amazon braces. My massive thighs are disproportionate to my big-but-not-as-massive calves. It's a disease called turkey drumstick legs. So any brace large enough to fit my thigh, is too large for my knee and calf, so it simply starts to slip down my leg as I take 2 or 3 steps. You must meet with Judy (the brace fitting specialist) to be measured and let her assist you before making any purchases. She was sweet and sympathetic - and after trying multiple things - she kindly recommended that I go next door and talk to 'Rita.' Next door turned out to be Dr. Morrison's place! THE ACTUAL REVIEW: The waiting room was clean, quiet and comfortable. They 'squeezed' me in - and even then the wait time was minimal. The staff (Rita and Anna) were sweet and pleasant. The doctor was knowledgeable and took a LONG time in the examination room with me - excellent, caring bedside manner. They administered an x-ray and a cortisone shot and thorough aftercare instructions - and the cost was pretty comparable to what I would have paid at any other specialist and / or an urgent care center.

Dr. Sacks sent me off for an MRI of my hip and along with x-rays in his office, he told me that arthroscopy would definitely help my condition. Immediately after surgery, in recovery, he was very happy with the results. And expected me to make a full recovery in 6 months to a year (the normal range of time for the surgery). At my 5 minute long post op appointment, 6 months later, Dr. Sacks said 3 times, "It's a good thing I'm a great surgeon". Each time he said it my wife and I would look at one another in disbelief with how shamelessly impressed he was with himself. However, at no time after surgery did my condition improve. A year later, I saw his assistant, Josh. I was shocked as he told me that the surgery was obviously not a success and that was due to the severe arthritis in my joint - something Dr. Sacks never mentioned to me before or after surgery. In fact, as I've been told by other doctors since, that my age and arthritis should have made me ineligible for hip arthroscopy, since that type of surgery has no chance of success. Instead, Dr. Sacks should have sent me along with a referral for hip replacement. After speaking with Dr. Sacks about it, he said that my hip is in such bad shape that there was nothing he could do surgically to repair the arthritic damage. If that was the case, why perform the surgery in the first place? Why not send me to someone who could actually help me rather than hurt me? Dr. Sacks set my recovery back by 3 years as I have been going dr to dr trying to figure out what was still wrong with my hips post op. Maybe Dr. Sacks is a decent surgeon with a god complex. Or maybe he's just so caught up in his day to day that he is incapable of a diagnosis any longer. Either way, I would NOT recommend him. He will gladly perform his surgery on anyone who walks into his door regardless of their individual condition. Knowing what I know now, I cannot recommend that you trust him with your care.

He didn't seem arrogant or full of himself as many doctors are, making you feel as if they're gracing you with their presence. Really liked him and that was the most important part for me.
