Background / History Randomly carrying boxes up the stairs…read moreand tore my left meniscus a few years back - and TRIED to do PT with Wellstar. Lol. My knee wasn't necessarily getting worse, but it wasn't getting better either - so I decided to try PT again this year. Wellstar EW Connector was closer, but based on my history with them (lol), I decided to try PT Solutions (A Wellstar Co.) instead and Google claimed this was the location nearest to me. It was not - see also 1812 Powder Springs Rd Marietta review. Exterior They're in the Richard B Sailors Publix plaza. The address is 3721 New MacLand Rd even though the plaza faces Richard B Sailors. There's a lot of stuff jammed in this plaza so parking can be a challenge. Interior Small space, but but not cluttered. Customer Service I liked that they were easy to reach and allowed me to complete my paperwork before visit (though I did have to request it). When I arrived, I was a bit taken aback by how many patients there were. It seemed to take a bit of time before anyone was ready for me. They didn't realize that I'd sent my paperwork already (because they asked me to complete it again). Also - some of the the staff seemed a bit 'harried' and stressed. I have one of those 'angry resting' faces, so it may have just been that. When I entered and was giving my name, there were two African American ladies standing behind the person I was speaking too and they were listening to us and frowning / with eyebrows furrowed. When I finally glanced up at them pointedly, they finally looked back down at their files and devices, but it was weird. I am really started to feel my age with regards to how people interact socially with one another nowadays. No stars deducted for this - because as I said, it might just be angry resting faces. After checking, and finding my paperwork, I was told to have a seat. Within a few minutes, a very trim, VERY well-dressed gentleman came over and introduced himself. Seriously, Tristan, would not be out of place having lunch at some swanky place in Manhattan. He was very positive and upbeat without being over-the-top or saccharine. He was treating me and 2 other patients at the same time, so I had to get over my introvertedness and I actually talked to the patient that was in the chair next to my table. Seriously, she was less than 5 inches away from me. Lol. I found out later that they do have a private room in the back for folks that request it, but I'd be too self-conscious to request it. Price / Value Once I got ready to check out, I was advised that my visits were going to be $71 per visit. At their recommended two visits each week - that's a little over $560 per month. I was pretty annoyed at myself for NOT having asked about the pricing before being treated. Based on my history, I thought they were going to discuss price with me BEFORE treating me, but with the two angry looking women upfront, I really just didn't feel comfortable asking a bunch of questions. They did tell me I could pay later. And I did find out MUCH LATER ,that this information was incorrect. This is where the 2 star deduction comes from. I think someone should have contacted me to discuss my financial obligation as soon as they heard back from my insurance company and I think it's odd that they got my co-pay information so wrong. I think it shows poor organization. Overall Overall, I think this facility is ok. A little too busy for me, but otherwise, pretty standard with their offerings.

I never got full attention, and that happened during every session regardless if the place was busy or not. I had 2 therapists in 4 sessions Brandi and Princess without any prior notification. Changing therapist was very inconvenient. Each session, the therapist gives me a useless exercise (an exercise that does not need any therapist at all) then walk away and work with three other clients at the same time. Alarm goes off after each exercise and there is no therapist around, most of the session time goes in waiting. I had to wait after the alarm went off until the therapist finally shows up, or most likely the therapist across the room will send instructions with someone else, which can be another therapist who doesn't know my medical condition or a receptionist who is not a licensed therapist. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I had a surgery in my foot, I can't walk without crutches and a walking boot. I can't just let whoever touch my injured foot. At the end, the therapist comes with a pack of ice for 3 minutes and let me go 10-15 minutes before the hour is over. When I requested to finish the whole hour, the response was you can stay here in ice. I decided that this is going to be my last session at that location (or any PT solution all together) when they sent the new cleaning employee to give me an exercise direction and put ice pack around my injured foot. Poor guy didn't even know what to do, or which part I needed the therapy for. He didn't know how to put it, the ice pack didn't hold together and kept falling off. That happened while the place was not busy; therapists were just chatting with each other and sent the cleaning guy to me. They saw that he can't manage and didn't do anything. That place doesn't have qualified therapist to treat a condition like mine. They had no clue what to do at all. They have bunch of other clients with much less complicated conditions. For as much as physical therapy costs, clients deserve one-on-one attention from a professional therapist with a projective recovering plan, not randomly selected exercises. I wasted my time and money without any improvement. I would never go back to that place nor recommend it to anyone.

After NOT being able to be treated by Wellstar Ortho due to my only-seems-to-only-read-high-at-their-facility blood pressure issues, my orthopedic surgeon referred me to this place. My doc's office told me to expect a call from them. After a week with no phone call - I decided to call my doctor's office again. They assured me they'd sent the referral and suggested that I call Emory directly. Before ending the call, they even double-checked my file and visually confirmed that they had a fax confirmation. They provided me with the number for Emory. When I called Emory, the receptionist / Office Manager answered the phone shouting and laughing with someone in the background. When she finally managed to stop laughing and calling on the Lord, she said, "Hello?" As though I'd call her personal cell phone instead of a place of business. I said, "Is this Emory?" And she said 'Yes' as though I was an idiot for asking. I explained why I was calling and she said that she hadn't had a referral from Dr. Morrison's office in ages. When I explained that I'd just talked to them moments ago - she told me that I needed to call them back and have them re-send it. I was very taken aback. I'm used to dealing with medical support team members that are a bit more proactive - but I was in no mood to ask her to PLEASE be helpful and just call the the Dr's office on my behalf. So I call my doctor's office again - and of course, they kept me on the phone while they conference-called Emory. We got the same receptionist / Office Manager again. Of course she insists that she never received the referral so Rita (the manager at my ortho's office) sends it over again and roughly 2 hours later Emory finally calls me to schedule an appointment. I asked for an appointment any day between 1 - 4pm - except Wednesdays. She offered me a Tuesday appt at 11am. ??? On the day of my appointment - when I arrived the staff was cutting up, laughing and having a lot of fun. Shouting across the room talking to one another and the patients. The space itself is tiny. The open air therapy room is literally the size of my downstairs family room (yes, my family room is large, but Yikes! This facility is a LOT smaller than I'd envisioned). And I don't begrudge anyone that has fun at work - so no stars deducted for that. Work should be challenging and fun - but as a newcomer, and an extrovert - I admit I found it a bit daunting. I had to put on my actress hat and pretend that I'm an extrovert too. This is just a warning - if you are looking for a quiet, serious, sedated physical therapy atmosphere - this is NOT the place. My therapist, Kristi, was pleasant & seemed empathetic which is always great (and sorely lacking in some folks employed in the medical profession) but there were a couple of things she did that were unique compared to any physical therapy I've ever had. For instance, she told me how many reps she wanted me to do, but then she'd either wander off leaving me lost because I thought SHE was counting my reps. Or she'd stay right there but start talking to her co-worker - which made it difficult for me to do the counts in my head. I kept losing track and then I felt bad - like I'm a doofus because I can't block out background noises well enough to keep track of my counting. She also didn't help me sit up from the table when it was time to go. She was preparing to leave / get off for the day - so I was on my own. (She left before I did thanks to my Who's on First conversation with the receptionist / Office Mgr - below). I don't typically need help sitting up from this position, but I'd pulled a muscle in my side two days prior so I would have LOVED some help on this day. Lol. The icing on the cake was one final interaction with the receptionist / Office Mgr. When I thought it was time to pay - she explained that she wouldn't be collecting payment from me because though she'd verified my insurance, she didn't know how much my visit would be today and that once they filed the claim, they would let me know. She said it would be 25% of their contracted rate with my insurance provider. After a bunch of back and forth - I told her that I would have to hold off on scheduling my next appointment until I know what my co-pay per visit will cost. I still don't understand why she didn't find out what my contracted rate was before my appointment date? She had 9 days to find out. I want my knee 'fixed' - but I've got a mortgage to pay. So right now my therapy is on pause and I'll be sitting here on pins and needles hoping I don't wind up with some surprise $800 medical bill / balance arriving in the mail. 3 stars means A-OK on Yelp so I'm awarding them that because I think the therapists are knowledgeable and caring. And the 3 patients I encountered during my visit seemed to really enjoy themselves.

Background / History So ... I'm an expert PT patient at this…read morepoint. Trying to find a PT clinic to help get my left knee (torn meniscus) back in shape. I visited PT Solutions of Powder Springs and BenchMark PT Powder Springs before coming here. Exterior They're located in the strip mall nextdoor to Atlanta West Dentistry. There's a ton of stuff here: a pet grooming place, a nail salon, a Dominican salon, a barber shop, a donut shop and a Wiggle Giggle (formerly Fitness 19 I think). The bakery and the pho shop have gone out of business. Interior Pretty spacious compared to the other facilities I visited. Based on the storefront exterior, I was surprised (pleasantly) when I walked in. They have all the usual stuff. The only thing I was disappointed to see missing was my beloved Total-Gym type machine. Luckily, I bought one for my home use. Lol. Price / Value I was THRILLED to discover that PT Solutions New Macland had my co-pay / financial obligation information incorrect. My co-pay was not $71 - it was $20. Yay. Customer Service Brandi is awesome (as evidenced by the tons of Google 5 star reviews that mention her by name). Empathetic, motivating, personable and knowledgeable. Just what you want in a therapist. I worked with Chris for the first time last week and he was also great. He immediately won me over because he's funny and former Navy, and he's got hands that could crack walnuts. The therapist / patient ratio is much better here and it seems like they do a much better job of spacing patients out (with regards to both actual physical space and appt times). I actually tried to call this facility two week ago and no one answered. I'd received a Wellstar bill for a $20 co-pay (not the $71 I was quoted by New Macland, so I was curious about whether it was mistake.) I called super early morning last week and no one answered, so I decided to just drive up there once I woke up for the day. I found out later that they sometimes have meetings and Brandi told me the best time to call. But unlike Benchmark, they have a whole BANK of cards with email addresses (for therapists and for the front desk), so reaching them, now, is a breeze. But back to my drop in ... when I stopped by Allison (I think) was there. She told me she was the front desk manager for this location and the New Macland location. She looked up my file and confirmed that the $71 in my file was incorrect. She was the one who got me scheduled. Allison did do the thing that everyone does where I ask if they have any appts after 2pm and then they proceed to offer me 9am and 10am appts. I always have to explain that I'm not being a diva - that I get off work at 5am or 8am and that I REALLY like to get at least 5 or 6 hours of sleep each day. Lol. Like the other facilities I reviewed, the support staff is super young and interactions can be a little awkward. For instance, Tiffany is a sweetheart, but she speaks so quietly I can barely hear her, so I feel like I have invade her space by leaning over the counter to hear her. And Asia, who looks a bit stern until she smiles - is amazing, but she never introduced herself - she just came over when Brandi instructed and started helping me. There's an AA male with locs - same situation - no idea who this guy is but I've been close enough to him to put my nose in his hair if I wanted to. I think they're called technicians and it has been this way with literally EVERY facility I've visited. Unlike the therapists, none of them ever seem to have on name tags (or if they do, they're hidden / obscured by clothing). It's almost like the therapists have warned them that they'll be beaten if they talk to patients or introduce themselves. Just kidding. I think it's probably a young person being social awkward with old person thing. Lol. Other This location offers dry needling but no cupping or e-stim. They also have a home exercise portal. Overall Overall, I'm very happy that I took a chance and stopped by and I'm hoping that they can help me get my knee back together for a healthy, happy 2024!
