I have little experience of what to look for at a Paintball site apart from Health and Safety and whether the punters were enjoying themselves. On arrival I was greeted by two staff with a friendly wave and taken to meet the owners. Fortunately, there were several schools arriving as well as groups of adults. It appears Campaign has been owned by the same guys for over 20 yearsthe site is vast and what I saw totally reassured me. Interestingly, the first school to be briefed was a school that I knew really well having worked there many years ago so I was able to speak to the pupils and teachers as the morning went on. They liked the equipment, the variety of themed areas and the banter of the marshals. Some games were extremely tactical and serious stuff. It was obvious the adrenalin was flowing and every pupil I spoke to was fully engaged and loving it. Lunch was also provided in the price. Most groups I spoke to had been before, and this backed up what the owners said about repeat business and making the experience bespoke for 'their customers'. In conclusion a well run operation, clear instructions, heavy focus on safety (I was given a briefing and had to wear the goggles, protective gear on the range even at lunchtime) and what seems like new equipment. I intend to take a large group of dads (and daughters) to Campaign very soon.

Excellent place for a day out…read more I have been to Campaign three times now. I had such a blast on my 21st birthday many moons ago that I arranged an outing for work. Last saturday I dutifully arranged my best mate Jon's stag party. Really pleased to say we weren't let down by Campaign.. These guys certainly take a lot of care in what they do and I can't praise them highly enough. Thanks again.

Would you voluntarily get shot by a rapid fire machine gun at close range? The answer that any…read moresound-minded person would give to such a question would be Absolutely not, unless of course you like paintball. Paintball (and I'm sure the't' is silent) is surely the juncture at which BDSM and sport meet; not that I'd wear PVC on the field; too conspicuous. Not enough padding. Mayhem is astonishingly easy to get to; unlike some of these fields tucked away in Kent, miles away from any form of public transport, this venue is on the central line. Just get off at Theydon Bois (it's in East London, in case you wondered) and the shuttle which comes once every 10 minutes, literally dumping you at their doorstep. Their attitude to safety is suitably militant; you won't get away with any rapid fire shots when no-one is expecting it or off you go. The ranges are very diverse; loads of woodlands, some trenches to get muddy in, a wild west saloon with not much coverage, which pretty much guarantees a good bruising. Fantastic. The food however is abysmal. Coke? Burgers? Fizzy rubbish? No fruit? Come on. At least spare me a banana I went with a women's extreme sports group called Adventure Dykes; what I was later to learn was that three of our team were in the army and the rest were regulars, which may go some way in explaining why we kicked our opponents' butts. And that's ultimately what's so good about it. It's all about the 'I win, you die' mentality. In the nicest possible way of course

This place is actually legit. Having never been paintballing before, I don't have much to compare it to, but overall there was little to be unhappy about. Whilst organisation occasionally felt shambolic at the beginning, that was more a reflection of how hard it is to herd stag do attendees and the like, rather than the marshals' lack of organisation. Marshals were friendly, clear and safety-conscious. They were extremely clear about not taking off helmets at any time, and were reassuringly hard-line about this. They were accommodating and helpful throughout. The variety of scenarios was good - we didn't even get to try all of them, even thoguh we were there the entire day. Facilities besides the arenas aren't the best, but then expectations are very low - it's a paintballing outfit on a farm, so toilets of questionable quality was always going to be a risk. On the plus side, whilst I dreaded how bad the food would be, the burgers were actually edible and nobody got food poisoning, so I consider that a fairly high bar set. Really easy to get to as you just take the Central line to Theydon Bois and then they send down a shuttle coach frequently. Couldn't ask for it to be easier. It also seemed to attract a good crowd; the regulars, at least, were all really nice/helpful and didn't do the kind of eye-rolling and snorting at the rookies that you might expect. All in all, it felt like what a good paintballing place should, at least to this first-timer. I'm certainly intending to return.

Bad from start to finish. Their selling technique tells you to pick any package for a great day,…read morebut spending anything under £40 means they then tell you that you won't have enough for the day and if you want to have any fun, you must buy the more expensive package. Makes me wonder why they mainly advertise a lower price which is insufficient to actually play the rest of the package you're playing for. Then they advertise lunch as a dominoes pizza, recieve wrist bands with dominoes on them, which then turns out to be from pizza hut. Not a big problem generally, but ruined one of my parties day because they don't like pizza Hut and would have brought their own food if we'd known. Then it's the complete lack of organisation from the people running the game. They instruct you not to shoot people close, and instead tell you to shout surrender, but then don't enforce the surrender and when they shoot you at point blank range they step in and turn you out. Also unable organise what is in the game. In this instance, they hide a briefcase on a map, and the team that retrieves it gets points, but they instead put an extra briefcase on the map which, when they realise their mistake, decided we don't get the points for retrieving it meaning we lose the game instead of winning. Put a real downer on the whole experience and I've been paintballing many times before, but this has ensured I'll find a company that is making sure they spend more time on the quality of the experience rather than the quantity of sites they own. And to ensure you know who can't organise, the Marshall who can't organise the games correctly is James, and the manager Dominic, who when confronted with the problem, is unable to say anything either way, and is more concerned that his name is going to be mentioned in my review than the fact that his staff can't organise games. Ruined the whole experience and ruined a good stag day otherwise. If you want a good paintball experience, I'd consider looking around before choosing go paintball.

You definitely feel like you are in a battle zone.. They even provide you with pizza for lunch which was a nice touch but be warned it's a pretty small pizza so don't expect to fill up on it.. Would i go back? For sure!
