My review is mainly for the gym facilities:
Main entrance: Staff do not pay attention. Huge quantities of youths get in free to the centre due to staff not paying attention. They tailgate or walk in whenever staff open the gate. This means undesirables are inside the centre and they are losing out on a lot of revenue.
Firstly, the locker room is constantly filthy and the toilets smell bad.
The locker room has about 100 lockers in it, but probably over 75% of those lockers do not work. Either your coin falls out or it gets stuck. Meaning you have to constantly hunt to find a locker that works. If the staff simply put an out of order sticker on the ones that don't work (the majority) it would be a lot easier.
The gym itself has pretty good equipment. However, the gym is constantly dirty and there is dirt, fluff and dust on some machines that have been there for months showing they don't get cleaned.
Staff are very rarely present. Only on a few occasions do you see anyone. Most of the time I can be in the gym for up to 2 hours and not see any staff. When they are there they spend most of their time messing around with their mobile phones.
The radio station chosen to play in the gym is atrocious. Terrible R&B music that nobody likes (clearly as the majority of members wear earphones and their own music players to try and drown out the atrocious music) It's hilarious to go in there early on a Saturday morning when the entire gym is full of old age pensioners and the radio is blaring out bad R&B music. Find a more suitable station.
One of the weight machines has had a clip missing on it for over 3 months now meaning it cannot be used. This is a clip you can buy on eBay for £2-3. Why do they not keep a stock of spares? Replace the clip!
There is a water fountain in the gym. Water comes out of it at such a slow trickle that it can take standing for over a minute to fill a bottle. Clearly the filter needs replacing or there is a blockage. Dirty, disgusting people are regularly seen putting their entire mouths over the tap used to fill bottles. Put a goddamn sign up to show these neanderthals how to use it. The fountain is not cleaned. Someone once spilt protein powder all over it and it was there days afterwards. Clean the fountain, unblock the pipes and put signs up.
One major omission from the gum is a preacher bench. There are a huge number of exercises that require a preacher bench. They have everything else except this. Buy a preacher bench.
Members leave weights and equipment scattered all over the place. They rarely put them back. There are no signs up anywhere asking people to put the kit back and of course with staff rarely there nobody polices it either. Put signs up and police the gym regularly.
My final gripe is the free weights area is tiny. Once 3 people are in this area it is full.
Overall the gym is good but I am only going to give you 2 stars for the dirty and unhygienic state of the gym, the terrible loud music and the lack of a preacher bench. read more
