When my wife brought this to their attention she was ignored. I am 62 years old and we travel a lot. This is my first time ever complaining about travel. SO disappointed in the service. Our room was absolutely filthy. There was dust and grime buildup on all of the ledges, stains, crumbs, hair, dust, along the bed frame and in the crevices of the chair. just no attention to detail at all. we did contact the owner and opted to leave and were provided a full refund, but the kind of build up that was in that room was either from a long term stay that wasn't cleaned up properly or just terrible cleaning over and over. side note: wifi signal was not good, bedding was bare minimum and no hand towels or face cloths provided. I'm not looking to trash the owners, I just don't want anyone to be in the same situation we were, having to look for another place last minute after a long day of traveling, I was almost in tears, plus I had to pay way more to stay somewhere else because there weren't a lot of options.

So rather than pay an astronomical fee for the privilege of proximity, I did a quick search of the area. There are plenty of options, but many of them just seemed suspect. The I came across the Varden. Definitely a boutique hotel, but definitely worth checking out. The rooms are typically small with barely room for a bed, a partial desk and a small bathroom area. But the room was extremely clean, the fixtures and bed were new and cool and for one person, really perfect. Particularly since other than sleeping and checking emails, what else do you really need? Well, for starters you need to feel safe. And this place does a great job of securing the facility at night, but you don't feel you're in a bad neighborhood anyway. You also might like to enjoy a welcoming attitude, and the staff and place has plenty of that. The young staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Being forewarned that the property has 3 levels and no elevator is important, but honestly, it's not a tough climb to floor 3. And as a testament at how great the staff are, they wouldn't take no, and they carried my bags to my 3rd floor room. Since I was there for meetings, I needed to press my clothes, so a call to the front desk resulted in a brand new Iron and Board appearing at my room within minutes. And being welcomed by a reception with snacks, wine and drinks between 5:00 - 7:00 everyday, is just super nice. They also do a continental breakfast from 6:00-9:00 daily. They have a hip space right behind the registration area for these treats so it's easy to walk through on your way in/out of the property. And best of all the price per night was less than 1/2 of what those big chain hotels were charging. And I was less than 4 blocks (and a very nice walk past lots of local stores/restaurants to give me a feel for the area) from the Convention Center. For all these reasons, if you're in Long Beach solo, I would highly recommend you check out the Varden.

My family had purchased airline tickets from LAX to Phnom Penh, Cambodia through this agency, and when we heard of the arrest, we called to confirm reservations with the airline. I was told that the airline did not receive payment for the seats listed on our itinerary! I went to the business to see what contact info was listed, but saw that there was a posting by the building management that the storefront was deemed abandoned due to non-payment of rent. Additional information was posted to contact the Long Beach Police Department to file a police report. Inside was completely vacated except for debris and trash strewn about the floor. I called Korea air to confirm the tickets the lady who answered the phone stated that the tickets were cancelled and that money had already been refunded to the agency. We've used the Cranky Concierge for two separate international trips within the past 18 months,…read morewith complex planning elements, and we couldn't be happier! The fee is extremely reasonable and the folks work as team members covering your needs 24/7. It's the first company that I worked with involving multiple team members - and there was no drop in service or any miscommunication given how many team members could be involved (depending on the time of day that you are contacting them). The first trip (in 2024) involved flights to/from South Africa. I decided to use them when the international connections and requirements became more than I could manage while working a high stress job (who needs more stress planning a vacation?). The advantage of their services were immediately apparent but became a Godsend when - unfortunately - my father became gravely ill and I was contemplating sending my family ahead of me, and then connecting with them somewhere mid-trip (depending on how my father was doing). The team was immediately helpful, offering a variety of flight options depending on when exactly I planned to connect with my family. The second trip (in 2025) involved flight itineraries to the Isle of Man, connecting through Manchester. The flights needed to be at a certain time in order to catch a ferry to the Isle of Man. Furthermore, between booking the flight and the actual travel day, there were changes in requirements for those passing through Great Britain - something that we would not have really known about if someone in the travel industry did not bring it to our attention. Next year, we will likely do a multi-city trip to Europe and we will definitely use them again to book the flight to and within that continent!

I noticed that this particular terminal is the home for other cruise lines as well, including Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and Seabourn Cruise Line. Before I was able to successfully board the Carnival Radiance ship, I had options to either drop off the luggage with the porters or take the luggage with me. I decided to take my bags just so I can have them readily available. Next, I proceeded to the "Arrival Appointment On Time" where my designated boarding time was set for 12:30 PM on May 14th. The line was moving at a fair pace and it didn't take long. At the first station, a Carnival employee checked the boarding pass and respective identification, whether it was an ID + birth certificate or just solely the passport. Furthermore, items were screened through security. Lastly, the walk to the cruise was a bit of a distance. Then, it was an ease to board the cruise. I loved the presentation of the indoor space. It had a bunch of fun Carnival wall signage, airplane decor, etc. The workers inside the cruise terminal were firm and straightforward with the customer service. The building space was spacious and clean. The Long Beach Cruise Center can get crowded easily at peak hours of pick up and/or drop off. It was crowded with many vehicles upon returning on May 19th.
