After getting my first flight in NYC cancelled after sitting on the tarmac for three hours, I was told that if I wanted to get back to Texas any time soon, I'd have to wait several days, and fly out of White Plains instead. Good luck with lodging, meals, transportation, etc. Since the delay was weather delay, they owed me nothing. But the ground crew in White Plains was professional and patient, even though we had additional delays in White Plains. My favorite thing about Delta right now? Biscoff Cookies. I know that airline experiences are very personalized and if you have a bad experience it just really makes it hard to ever thing anything nice of that particular airline again. That being said, I've never personally had any issues with Delta. Some delays, but from what I know they were unavoidable (final destination weather, etc). The crew here in Westchester/White Plains is top notch. I love that this is a smaller airport and a little more personable. Now, there will potentially be a ton of people here - not so much a hidden secret location anymore. The Delta staff that work the counters are professional and friendly. The pilots and flight attendants obviously travel all over and relate to any city, but they have always been friendly when interacting with them out of this location. Really hard to find any negatives about the services that they are offering. read more

Recently went to California on delta and used jfk in long island. This airline needs more people features.when you get to the delta terminal and check in it seams good. then you need to walk at least 1 mile and a half to get to your gate almost at the end. no tram to help with the trek.it affected me and my wife due to bad knees. I am awaiting knee surgery and she had fallen and hurt her knee prior.it was hot and we were tired.this was evident depating and arriving. read more

We flew from Roma to NY JFK on Sunday. 2 friends sat in front of coach in the more space seats. We were row 40 next to the restrooms. Someone had apparently vomited in business class on the previous flight and the plane was not cleaned!! The poor passengers in that section had to endure the horrible odor the whole trip. When they complained they were told they could deboard the plane. Right after take off, we all smelled something burning. All of the flight attendants started going up and down the aisles in a panic with their heads cut off. Looking in the restrooms several times. They had no idea where it was coming from. Finally we were told it was the ac unit, so they were operating on their secondary unit. Needless to say, many passengers were popping Zanax. This was not handled in a professional manner!! Our section of the cabin was like a tundra. I nearly froze to death while shivering with a thin blanket for hours till I finally got up and asked what they could do. I was told that the temp was 65! So she raised it to 72. Next, since the plane was not cleaned prior to our boarding, a flight attendant litterally cleaned both restrooms that were directly next to us and behind. We nearly choked from the harsh cleaner he used. And lastly when we landed, the restroom door came flying open and the medicine cabinet behind the mirror went flying open and Medicine and papers came flying out into the aisle! At 80, I've been flying 60+ years with almost every airline now in the air- and some now out of business. The East Coast and West Coast Shuttles 40-50+years ago, where you walked on and got a ticket on board after boarding - in the days before hijackings and terrorise changed everything including the pervasive security. Delta has been a regular part of life from my earliest days. But much more since industry consolidation. Delta is my preferred airline if they or partners service my destination. Regular flights to European capitals where I did extended work stints and extensive travel to the Middle East, Egypt, Jordan and Israel included. Many airlines including Air Egypt, a very good airline which I've flown repeatedly, Delta ranks with the best. I'm not denigrating others. We were largely cooped up by COVID before we resumed JFK-San Fran and eventually France. It felt good to be welcomed back onDelta. We came to Delta years ago after a favorite airline merged into a less satisfactory carrier during a merger period that was hard on passengers with poor merger of staff. Imagine standing in a crowded plane for nearly an hour while everyone waited for my physical seat to be brought out from the hangar and reinstalled. That was not Delta. We came to Delta because they flew our favorite routes and more as it and partners developed. We've been happy with their service on the ground and in the air. It is with partner Air France the airline we flew to Europe after COVID restrictions first eased My wife was on the phone today with a Delta agent who was excellent -most are. They worked through a complicated series of itineraries and seating. We usually buy upgrades with money or miles or combination. A flight to San Francisco, a flight to Hawaii, a flight to Venice and a return from Athens. Another trip to San Francisco, Italy as usual again in December. We buy upgrades upfront or with miles, cash or both. It can get complicated. It helps when the agent looks for 60,000 miles and finds 1.65 million miles in my bank. And we are pikers compared to some We fly Delta because they're good at the job, they are almost always personable and helpful. The more you fly, the more you'll like them and the way deal with this intricate ballet. Unhappy because you only got one drink in the back of the plane? Better service, a wider seat etc goes with paying the higher price. The more you fly, the more you'll appreciate and understand the intricate ballet of air travel and airlines trying to make it work better. You'll stop exaggerating minor flaws and appreciate what Delta is doing. I think they do it well, but try it anywhere., A final word. Just try being nicer. The guy at the ticket counter, the security guy, the people on the plane, all of us respond better to a pleasant demeanour. If they don't, the next one will. If you have a valid complaint deal rationally with it. Your oversized child, sitting in your lap in a ticket cheat, repeatedly kicking the seat of the elderly man in front of you will not be appreciated. Your loud bellyaching isn't appreciated. You won't score any points. Nothing makes travel more unpleasant than an loud obnoxious, whining, complaining bore unless it's a pair of them. We've seen that. But Flight attendants are not there to abuse - on Delta or any airline. Even flight attendants have less good days but most enjoy the work. If you see that, speak up quietly in private. read more

Absolute horrible customer service. Three of us booked our flight and only one of us can see our seat. We called customer service to try and clarify this and the guy was beyond rude. He kept saying that the confirmation number that was emailed to us from delta was in correct. After 30 minutes he finally typed it in correct and found our flight. He said since we're basic economy we cannot be assigned a seat even though our third passenger we are flying with was assigned a seat. We all booked our flights together. This doesn't make any sense and the customer service is beyond awful. Do not book with delta. They are absolutely awful. read more

Flew first class and due to FCC issues regarding the crew maxing out their hours they are allowed to work, we were diverted to another airport. During this time announcements were being made that it was unknown what was going to happen when we landed. When we finally did land, we sat there for hours while their operations department try to figure out what to do. We finally left and taken to our destination. All told we sat on the plane for over nine hours. Babies were screaming, people were hungry and exhausted. The crew was agitated and rude and nI can't even imagine sitting in Economy under these conditions & the only reason I sprung for the first class tickets was because I recently had back surgery. A couple of days later I got an email that they were giving me the equivalent of $150 in Delta credits. I emailed several times because first of all I don't wanna fly with them again second $150 when I paid $1200 for that seat and sat on a plane for nine hours is ridiculous. They gave me another 50 bucks because I was complaining. I find it disgusting that a $72 billion company is unwilling to compensate their customers for what was clearly an operations failure. While I'm not accustomed to prefacing any review this way, the staff I've encountered at this particular location are some of the rudest people I've met in any airport around the country. I was traveling with my parents and trying to make a 6am flight (which is annoying enough). While we got there with ample time before boarding, we barely made it before the doors closed thanks to some unforseen obstacles. At the Delta counter, we had to change a name on the flight because my mom's nickname (really just an obviously shortened version of her first name) was accidentally entered and showed up on her ticket. Since it didn't fully match her ID, I asked to have it updated since she couldn't have gotten past security otherwise. Anyway, after some eye rolling, the Delta representative haughtily sniffed "Well, this is your mistake so you'll have to call Delta." It being 5am, I reminded her that SHE IS DELTA, and sitting behind a Delta desk with NO ONE ELSE IN LINE. It took another 20 minutes for her to "find someone who could fix this." Seriously, the whole experience was amateur hour at its finest. ACT LIKE YOU BEEN HERE BEFORE, DELTA. For what ended up being a simple fix in the computer (from the nice man who ended up helping us, which took less than 2 min), the entire process was stressful, RUDE, and with attitudes entirely unnecessary read more

Worst airline ever. No one was at the help desks in Laguardia and when we went into the sky club the people behind the desk did not help us. Never will I purchase a ticket from this joke of an airline. HORRIBLE. read more

Okay my family and I arrived at 3:50 our flight leas to leave at 6 am, So first problem we had was there was 1 person working and this girl her name was Keisha, she was very rude and nasty to myself and some others. I asked her a couple questions about our flight and she continued to be rude. It's the weekend so I would have thought they'd have more than one person checking us in and the lines were out of the door. I believe that if you're working with customers you should know how to communicate with people . This girl Keisha that represents Delta made Delta airlines look horrible. I've never had an experience like this before and I travel a lot. If she doesn't know how to deal with people then maybe she should have another job. This makes Delta look bad, also I didn't feel comfortable asking her anymore questions because she was just to rude and this was at the White Plains Airport. Maybe you all would train your workers to be patient caring and helpful instead of rude, impatient and just plain nasty. My family and I didn't deserve that type of treatment. read more

Flew Delta yesterday from San Diego to JFK in New York. It was horrible. Since it was a long flight, I thought about upgrading to their Comfort + seats. I looked up in line what those seats included. It said extra leg room, check in two bags for free, free premium snacks, free complimentary fresh fruit, free alcoholic drinks, blanket, pillow and amenity kit. I thought the $300 to upgrade was reasonable for all that they offered. Only thing we received, the extra 3-4 inches in extra leg room. When we checked in our luggage, they had us pay and told us to take it up with Delta. $60 for luggage! We were offered a choice of almonds or crackers as a snack, the usual drinks, coffee, juice, soda. No fresh fruit, which may have been due to COVID, so I can understand that. There was an AC vent or some kind of vent, where we were sitting. Our feet and legs were freezing. Literally FROZEN! They told us they had no blankets! First class had blankets and pillows! We tried to block the vent with our back packs, which was uncomfortable and didn't work well. We hardly ever saw a flight attendant. After the first offer of a snack and drink, we never saw them again. Will never fly Delta again! read more

Delta - Wifi problems. Even though we synched our phones according to directions before flight, never worked (Jacksonville, and Atlanta, and White Plains airports). They tell you to watch a movie on your tiny smartphone or a tablet, but if it cuts out, and does not work, what's the point? No screens, no earphones on these planes. Asking for volunteers to check one of 2 allowed bags - we were late on takeoff. After waiting our turn for completely disorganized passenger boarding groups, they informed me that my 3" by 6" pocketbook was considered a third bag and I'd have to check it. Meanwhile my family has already boarded. So I opened one "allowed" bag on the ground and shoved it in there. Good to go. Next, upon reaching our connecting flight, we were informed last minute that the gate had been changed to one on the other side of airport in Atlanta. We were told to CHECK our 2nd allowed bags 5 mins before supposed boarding time, giving us pink numbered tickets. Ok, fine. At Westchester Airport, they lined us up like cattle on one side (those with 2nd bags), allowing others to leave. Taking one bag at a time, and handing it to customer with matching ticket. Then the agents began lining them up haphazardly on the other side, so naturally people began surging forward out of line to grab their bags and run. Free for all. But I don't blame them - a few had connecting flights to catch! We learned early to eat well before any Delta flight - their "food" is not as advertised and often unavailable. We were given "cookies" and soda on one flight, and salted almonds (better) and soda at 2nd leg of trip. The SEATS: I'm 5'5" - my knees were jammed up against the seat in front of me - and God forbid that person puts the seat back an inch. Very unpleasant overall. We flew out on American Airlines - even though they are suffering the same economic woes as other airlines, they are better organized. That asinine business with baggage is the last straw. (3:47 am waiting on line) I had a reservation already. Concerned about status on my emotional support application. Yesterday day 45 min on line at 10:30 am, then tried their call you system. They said 2-3 hours- no call ! Tried call you system again 2 pm, no call. Tried 5 pm, no call, at 10:30pm tried get on system again; they said your on the list and will be called within 1 hr. and 30 min. (Midnight- no call! I'm 73! At 3;47am looked at recent call list- no call!! Will I use Delta again? I'd rather walk first? Must be doing real good and don't care. Oh finally answered! I'm missing forms! they said sorry but overloaded with call-ins- pathetic. read more

Worst experience ive ever had with an airline. They lost my baggage and they gave me an email only to contact anyone that can actually help me which says they will respond in 14 to 30 days. Me and my daughter are one vacation with nothing have never been more upset with an airline. read more

I give this a 3 because the guys and gals at check in are very pleasant. However the flight attendants seem to be very bored with their jobs. A couple of the women seem so put out when I asked a couple of questions. The lead flight attendant on my last few flights sounded so brain-dead. She was not enthusiastic at all. They could take some lessons from the enthusiastic folks at Southwest! I don't know about other airlines but the fact that they only have Tapas boxes of food available is so disheartening. There are at least fresh chicken wraps on the menu but they don't sell them. On my flight to JFK the video screens didn't work so if you wanted to watch a movie and didn't have a smartphone and didn't download the app before flight take-off you were SOL. They were selling earbuds for videos that did not work. Airlines are clearly hurting. read more

Recently we traveled to Jackson Wyoming for a snowboarding trip. It was a great time and we arrived to the airport a little less then an hour in advance of our flight. When we arrived to the checkin desk we were told we can not check our bags because there is a 45 mins out before the flight. When we looked at the time we were 49 minutes out and still had four minutes to check our bags. The woman at the desk refused to help us and told us to find another flight. She wasn't even willing to help us look for one. The only way we could get on our flight was to leave our luggage behind. We left our luggage with our Uber driver and asked is he could ship our luggage. We were able to get on our flight but unfortunately without our luggage. When we arrived to our seats the plane was clearly not cleaned or sanitized throughly. There was still garbage in our seats from the previous flight. This is extremely concerning especially during a pandemic. I had to sanitize our seating area myself. I wrote an email to delta about my concerns. I received a phone call about my concerns and nothing was resolved. I was told they can not do anything to address my concerns and can offer nothing to make an unsatisfied customer happy. We travel almost every month with delta and I am now very dissatisfied with their customer service. They claim the safety of their customers is their number one priority but this last trip has proven that to be untrue. We will not be flying with delta again due to this unprofessional and inadequate customer service.
