ALWAYS read the negative reviews, first!…read moreI THOUGHT they were nice, (her son was great) because of what she volunteered to do for me, until I was told from Barbara that her NY connection put a battery in my watch, (that is all I wanted, a battery replacement in my Swiss Army watch, apparently has a special back that they were not equipped to remove) and it failed to operate. I didn't believe it, because I had the battery replaced once every 18 - 24 months for the last 15 years or so. I take good care of my good things. So I asked her if he tried another battery! Seriously! I know my face dial was off a bit, that did not bother me but it did bother her NY connection. It was not perfectly centered after 15 - 20 years, so what? They wanted $150.00 to do an overhaul, I'll call it. The argument between Barbara and I was that the watch would have worked if they did all I wanted them to do, put a friggin battery in the watch so it would operate. But no, she blatantly lied to me (good business practice) telling me the watch needed to be "fixed" to the tune of $150.00. Sure, her NY connection would have re-centered the dial, (nothing wrong with the crystal), put a battery in, and who knows what else for $150.00. I told her I would return once I found somebody else to put a battery in it to prove to her it was a working functioning watch. (And I did, Caparo Jewelers to the tune of $16.90). While I was there to pick up my non repaired watch, I reached into my pocket to show her another Swiss Army Watch that needed a battery. She just about threw me out of her store, albeit politely. I won't bother going back in. I have a lot of money to spend on fine jewelry, I'm glad she doesn't need my thousands of dollars that I will be spending elsewhere. I needed another Jeweler after Karcher in Whitemarsh, closed his shop.

I nearly died of excitement, went on Pinterest, found a picture of my dream ring and sent it to him. We never talked about it again - until the day he proposed! I later found out that Kevin took that one photo to John and they both worked on custom designing it together. I was in awe when I saw it because it was a way better version of the ring I showed Kevin. John also took the time to explain cut, clarity and color to Kevin. They're quite old, and I was worried about where to take them as they are precious to me. I took them to the right place!! The ring has multiple opals, one of which is broken. I knew sizing that up was going to be tricky. Opals are soft and will break easily. Any time you size you have to worry about loosening stones. They gave me the option to do the sizing first and see how the broken opal held up. I was knocked out with how fast everything was done, and to have my grandmother's ring on my finger is priceless to me. Very friendly and assuring gentlemen here who obviously know exactly what they are doing. If you need a jeweler, I highly recommend Chiccarines. I will definitely be going back.

This ring has been through hell and back over the years. The side chip used to be a ruby, that fell out and has been replaced with an amethyst now a third time! My one amethyst shattered and the other one sheared off at the sides. The band has been broken at least three times. Chiccarine's is my go to jewelry store for repairs. They assisted me in strengthening the band of my wedding set and even resized it. I'm a size 4.75 and I've never been a size 4 in ANYTHING! To replace the diamond with a mediocre diamond about the same size I believe it was in the neighborhood of around 1500+ the 300 for a whole new crown. I could have gotten an imitation diamond, known as moisonite for around 500. Mike showed me an example of it, it was beautiful but I opted for a natural garnet. I asked Mike about changing the cut into a heart shape. At first he didn't think it would work then he suggested to put the heart on its side. Genius!! The price to get a new crown, garnet and have the amethyst replaced was under 200$ and that's about what I wanted to invest. It was helpful because he had a heart shaped garnet so I could see what the ring might look like. Excelling in customer service, enhanced service & creative suggestions are all waiting for you at Chiccarine's. They're a trustworthy family business most deserving of your patronage!
